Also, do you know if Carlo's new book has English translation yet? The only ones I can find are in Italian. Supposedly Carlo throws a lot of his tactical knowledge in there along with man management.
About the market, like I've said before.....Radja is a great player I think. I don't want to object on buying him...but I truly feel like this team needs a vertical, explosive dribbler more then anything. Having said that, Radja will be an upgrade so it's hard to pass on him, however the deal of 7 mil plus half of Cristante for 50% means that the valuation is 17-18 mil or even more. Somewhere along the lines we will get screwed by either losing Cristante, or having to pay a further 7-8 mil for Radja PLUS money to get Cristante back.
This whole operation will cost us at least 16/17 mil of cash or young players lost and I'm not sure it's worth it. If we have that kind of money I'd rather buy a different type of player. But Radja is quality so I'm not going to complain. Maybe a a different quality then I think we need, but quality nonetheless and that's always welcome.
About Jorginho, I haven't seen enough to comment. I've only seen the kid play twice so I don't know how good he is.

Exactly what I feel about Nainggolan. He's a really good player we can use, but it's difficult not to question his salary. I hear lots of people say he'll be just another Muntari etc (the beyond the pitch podcast I posted with Owen Neilson says this), but I must disagree there with them.

Nainggolan is an awesome player, I wouldn't care if it was 7m for his half, but 7m+half of cristante is stupid. I'd rather up the offer to 8-9M if anything. Will put me at ease knowing we own all of Cristante, because I do expect him to one day be an important player.

As for the rumors, I just don't know enough of Jorginho to make a judgement. Nainggolan is excellent but nr worth losing Cristante.
I don't want to lose Cristante under ANY circumstances .
1. Coentrao to Milan per Calciomercato, Coentrao could very well be on his way to Milan on a half season loan. Mundo Deportivo reports that Real have offered Coentrao to Milan. The fullback has been a fringe player this season, and would likely get playing time at Milan. This also could be a way for Real to heighten the Portugese international’s market value before offloading him completely in the summer transfer window.
2. The continuing Nainggolan saga Calciomercato reports that directors Galliani and Cellino are to hold a meeting regarding the pending transfer of Belgian international Radja Nainggloan from Cagliari to Milan. Berlusconi has said that Galliani can raise the offer 500,000 euros in order to try and seal the deal. However, Milan still face fierce competition from Roma, Inter and Juventus for the Belgian midfielder’s signature. (continue reading…)

Will do Elmago, though I don't expect the book to arrive for another week. I agree with you guys about Cristante, I really don't understand what we're doing by shipping off all the youngsters. Some, like Vergara are understandable to get some experience, but others, like Saponara, who is breaking through and should be third choice playmaker after Kaka and Honda and Cristante, who is being shunted to the side for mediocrity just doesn't make sense to me. In Cristante's case, I'm not even against a loan if it means he plays, but I don't want us to give up any ownership of him.
WCMilan, I think Roma's offer for Nainggolan is what his maximum worth for half should be. They've offered 7.5m, meaning his total value is considered to be 15m. Personally, I think atm, that's his max value. Any more than that and I'm starting to have doubts. Elmago, what does it mean Berlu has said Galliani can raise the offer 500,000? Is that to 6.75 (our current offer was apparently 6.25)? Or maybe it's an offer without Cristante?
About the rumours, I read about Coentrao a few days ago (forgot to post on it). If we're at real risk of losing Abate, then I certainly wouldn't be against him permanently. I can't believe he's still just 25 too.

Recent rumour that we could sell Mexes to pay Nainggolan's salary would be disastrous if it comes true. Our defence is already terrible. Mexes was not playing particularly well, but at least he was not so error-prone as others. Are we going to rely on Silvestre?

terrible? that would be good. Mexes is nothing more than very average and he is one of best paid players. he gets 4m a year!!!
But I doubt that someone would sign him and pay him that much, we are stuck with.

At this point I rule out both Zapata and Mexes as starting quality for us. I'm hoping Rami will do well enough to be a starter, and Bonera has been proving to be much better than Zap and Mexes. Hence, one good back up for the two of them is good, which will be Zapata because there is absolutely no sense in keeping Mexes as a sub with 4M wages.

I gotta disagree on the Bonera thing. He is older (turning 33 this may) and can not be relied on for consistent play as he is no Nesta or Maldini. No doubt he can fill in gaps when needed but don't forget that he is just as error prone as Zapata and Mexes. The only difference is that he has not been played as much as them this season for his errors to be on display. The sad truth of the matter is that when we need CBs or players to play in the middle....we get a striker.
I agree that Mexes needs to see his way out as he is 31 and his wages are high. I just hope during the summer Milan decides to dedicate a good amount of the transfer budget to a defender like Silva. An athletic phenom but still very raw. As we are not likely to play in the CL next season it will be a great opportunity for a player like that to grow.

Of course it's ok to replace Mexes with someone better but if we want a really good defender he won't cost less (wage and/or fee) than Mexes. Point is, if we sell Mexes now don't expect someone "really good" in his place.
