I don't have any problem with JM not wanting to play for Milan. Hell, I was surprised we came as close to signing him as we did. He is an ass hole because of the way he handles his negotiations with clubs.

Looking at the events that unfolded, I have to think that Galliani had some kind of agreement or understanding with all parties that the deal was good to go. There was no way Galliani went to all this distance for someone who never even nodded their heads at us. And that is where I have a problem with JM. First, he and his agent says yes to Milan (in one shape or form), because we pay him well, of course. He said yes to us despite the fact that he really doesn't want to play for us. And even after he said yes to us, he still wanted to act like he was on the market, because technically he never signed the contract. And that's where this whole Atletico thing came about.

Galliani messed up this transaction badly, that is true. But JM is also a major ass hole for the way he played both sides of the fences. He made a commitment to us, but that commitment went away as soon as someone more appealing came calling. He is basically the hot girl at the club who flirts with like six guys at the same time. Certainly, it is his legal rights to do that, but the way he handled this is still utterly irritating. Call me old fashioned, but I think a man should stand by his words. If a commitment was made, then follow through no matter how appealing the grass look on the other side. JM might think he outsmarted the system this time, but the way he burnt his bridges will come back and haunt him in the future.

Ah, see, that is where I respectfully disagree with you. To me, all the activities surrounding this transaction proved that there were some kind of agreement in place.

If we did not have an agreement with the player of some kind, why did we send our medical folks to the tournament for a physical? The teams can agree all they want, but a player wouldn't be subject to a physical unless he also was in agreement on the deal. Unless we sent over our doctors as a elaborate trick to play with the fans (possible, given Galliani is in charge), JM and his entourage must have been involved in this in some way, shape or form. And for him to blindly declare he was not involved just doesn't seem realistic to me.

Certainly it is possible that Porto's owner was full of crap, but is it really that likely? As much as he likes 35M for his soon to be 29 year old striker, this is a guy who routinely sells players for huge money. Looking through their roster, he probably has another 10 players he can sell for over 10M right now. And, he was going to get a lot of money for JM regardless of who he ends up signing with. We were not his only outlet to get paid for JM. Would he really lie his teeth off just to push JM into a deal? I must say, 35M is probably not enough money for this guy to tarnish his own image in the soccer world.
