I agree. Milan management has sunk to a new low. but I wouldn't be surprised if they would outdo themselves in the near future.

I thought it couldn't get worse than last year, but this year has actually been worse, even though the results on the pitch have improved slightly. It's really becoming impossible for even a club as media savvy as Milan to hide how bad things have gotten on the management level.

The situation is getting critical. I am starting to think that if Berlusconi doesn't sell the club now, then there's no way back. And in Italy people seem to think that he will probably decide not to sell.

We should start an international online petition for the sale of the club or something. Just post it on every international Milan and Italian football website, get as many people as possible to sign and then send it to the club or something. From what I understand there will be protests at the San Siro tomorrow, and I feel like we should do what we can to help the Italian fans put pressure on Berlusconi.

I am sure that they are numerous petitions out there urging him to sell. Berlusconi is stubborn though, so I am not sure his decision would be impacted by any others.

On another matter, I really think that Galliani knows some of Berlusconi's dirty secrets; otherwise, it makes no sense that Galliani's job can be so secure.

I guess my opinion on B&G is that: Berlusconi may be old and arrogant, but he is not stupid; Galliani isn't stupid either but he is evil as he uses Milan for his own gain (probably not necessarily money, but power). Berlusconi should be well aware of it, but I just don't understand why he hasn't fired Galliani. Friendship alone should not be a sufficient reason.

Corriere della Sera reports that Berlusconi has decided to sell, while La Repubblica says that he is disillusioned by the fans' "ingratitude."

This is encouraging, because these are both (as far as I know) serious newspapers that are less likely to print unfounded rumors. As for our "ingratitude," I don't think there's a Milan fan out there who doesn't appreciate everything Berlusconi has done for the club over the last 30 years. It's been the best period in the club's history, and since 1986 you will be hard pressed to find a club that has done better in European and international football. We've won so much and Berlusconi has played a big role in that.

However, the last 5 years have been the most humiliating time I have ever experienced as a Milan fan. It's actually more about the lack of leadership and planning at the club than the results on the pitch, though results will of course always matter. A Juventino friend of mine said about 10 years ago that even though he didn't like Milan, he had to respect us because we were always strong and had leaders who knew football and what it took to keep the club stable and successful.

Milan always acted with a certain air of dignity both on the pitch and off. We had class. If there's one thing that tells me that the Berlusconi cycle is over, it's that these things are not there anymore. I'm not ungrateful, but like all other fans I see what the club needs, and that is a change of ownership.

I saw that about the "ingratitude" and find it pathetic, he's brought it all on himself. A third, I'd argue closer to half of his time in charge of Milan has been mismanagement. As I said before he's brought the club to heights that most wouldn't even dream of, and for that people should be and are grateful, but then there's no excusing the poor management of the mid to late 90s until 2002 (during which time the squad still had some outstanding players) or the last 10 years, which have almost destroyed everything he created!

And it's not like he's doing this all out of good will and joy, Milan has been very much a political tool for him and he should be grateful for what he's got from the club in that respect. Moreso, the great Milan side of the late 80s and early 90s were built on foundations at the club prior to Silvio, players like Maldini, Costacurta and Baresi already part of the club, either in the first team or growing in the youth set up. Silvio cannot take credit for it all, nor should he be allowed to, he was one part (albeit a big one) in a product that was the result of the hard work of many people. Many of those people he's turned his back on after he no longer deemed them necessary.

And when push come to shove what's he done to ensure a secure future for the club. It's got insane debts (he can pump in money but he's still done nothing to resolve the issue), the stadium situation remains the same, the squad is mediocre at best and the club despite being the most successful over the last 30 years in world football has still managed to fall out of the European elite because of poor management. Everything he's done that's been successful has been in self interest and he's got a lot out of Milan as a result. So yeah, call me ungrateful, but frankly I have no sympathy for an old prick who thinks he's entitled to anything after taking so much and leaving so little behind.

Corriere dello Sport says that Berlusconi is ready to sign an agreement with the Chinese within the next 24/48 hours. Not for the sale itself, but for exclusive negotiations, as far as I can understand. This may or may not lead to the sale of the club, but of course it's a signal of intent from both parties.

Meanwhile Sky says that if such an agreement is signed, all negotiations regarding transfers and contracts will be put on hold for at least a month. That includes Montolivo's renewal (please God stop this from happening) and any contract extension for Brocchi (not that that was going to happen anyway).

I am actually starting to feel optimistic that the club will be sold, though of course you never know with Berlusconi. At the end of the day anything can happen, but I think we're closer now than we ever were with Bee.

So if this happens, how do you all feel about Chinese ownership? While at this point I think anything would be better than another year of Berlusconi and Galliani, I don't think all our problems will be immediately solved either.

I do hope they agree that Milan needs investment before we can balance the books. If they want to market the club in Asia and challenge clubs like Barca, Real Madrid, Man Utd in terms of merchandise and so on, we will need a much better squad than we have right now. FFP is of course going to be a concern, but I think as long as we can show UEFA that we have a solid plan for breaking even in the future, we don't have to worry too much about it (others probably know more about this than me). For the next season I predict that 70% of our current squad will still be at Milan though. If we bring in some quality players and a good coach, however, we might still be alright in terms of challenging for the top 3.

Then there's the new stadium, which now seems that could be built after all. This is absolutely vital, so fingers crossed that it happens.

If there's one major wish I have though, it's that they bring people like Maldini and Albertini into the club's management. These men bleed red and black, and one of the most upsetting things about the current management is that they never gave them roles at the club.

Agree on everything devoted_dm. Honestly, Maldini and Albertini should be in the management of the club. The first we all know and have debated for a very long time, but Albertini's got years of working in the FIGC and has worked his way through that system to get very far.

Honestly, I'd love just to see these guys brought in just to give Silvio and especially Galliani the middle finger.

RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - slifersd - 05-02-2016

If we look at the situation objectively, our current state was always an inevitability, and the fans, unfortunately, played the role of enabler to the management.

For his entire tenure here, Berlu had always seen the fans as little children. He never really respected the fans as intelligent individuals who can process information with reason and logic. No matter how much he piss the fans off, he knew all he needed to do was to buy a shinny new toy in the form of a star player and the fans would just forget about what happened and worship him again, just like what little kids do. For all this time, fans of Milan never really demanded accountability and held Berlu responsible for the mistakes he made or asked for organizational changes to evolve the team into modern soccer standards . Everything was just hunky dory because we signed good players and won trophies. The lack of planning, structure and division of power eventually led to more and more bad decisions by our management and ended up destroying the team when the money well dried up.

Naturally, Berlu resorted to his usual trick to appease the crying babies by spending money. Only this time, the hole we dug ourselves is too deep for even money to fill, and the fans realized that as well. That's why the protests never stopped despite 90M spent last summer. And Berlu, naturally, is irritated by this and started spilling crap like "the fans are ungrateful". Honestly, if we just follow the foot steps, we should all have seen this day coming. Hopefully, Milan fans around the world learnt their lessons and will start looking more carefully at Milan as a business, not just a soccer team going forward. Without proper infrastructure, the team will eventually fail no matter how much money you throw into it.

I'll wait till it actually happens but:

http://www.football-italia.net/83765/maldini-role-chinese

slifersd I agree, but this is the nature of fans in general. Bear in mind most don't even follow the club anywhere near as closely as those who post on forums like these. Fans aren't and shouldn't be accountable for a club being run responsibly, so if they aren't and eventually when **** hits the fan, it's not unfair for fingers being pointed at those running the club. Fans have only so much influence, it's in the best interest for owners to try and run clubs with its best interest in mind.

RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - slifersd - 05-03-2016

Oh no question, I am not trying to say that the fans should be shot in the head for the club being run poorly. My post was more about illustrating the relationship between the fans and Berlu and how that relationship led to the problems we are having now. The unfortunate reality is, we as Milan fans probably pumped Berlu up so much that he felt he was superman and started making these outrageous claims and decisions because of that. If more fans can start having cooler heads and not lose their sh*t every time we bring in a player with a name, maybe we would be better off going forward. Sure, it is natural for the fans to do what they are doing now, but I think we have all been taught a harsh lesson on blindly following a charismatic leader and might have to start changing our own ways too.
