Or has he just done his medicals now, and he'll be with the team in the summer? Regardless, he's a bit more to look forward to than Saponara or Niang in my opinion.

I think Merda has been making far more efficient changes than we have.. For one, they hired a coach with experience, and not only experience but he was coaching them when Seria A was at the top, has experience in other top leagues as well. Secondly, they've signed players that they actually need. Their attack was very dull and tbh sucked. A player like Podolski is someone who can put up numbers for them and is a very good player, and then Shaqiri who we all know is a great prospect.

Then there's us.. Suso is a decent signing but wont improve us right away. Cerci is a good signing for the attack, but again the attack wasn't the main issue. We desperately need to sign a good midfielder, Witsel being linked with us just makes too much sense for me to believe our management will actually attempt the signing. I think he's just the type of player our midfield needs. He's a great passer with great vision but his dribbling and drive from the midfield is what this team lacks IMO, someone who can really bring our midfield that special something extra.

From all ive seen/heard Suso will not be here until his contract is expired.Witsel will not be joining its just pure lies.Or terrible reporting.Destro well Osvaldo is way more likely.

The midfield will no doubt be ignored AGAIN.It lacks quality creativity and everything else you need in a midfield.Pippo just isnt cutting it , he is ractically inept naive things a coach shouldnt be.I didnt expect a lot TBH.So many clubs are looking for Pep type coach. There is only one.No other coach had his success so fast.Milan have tried it 3 times and its failing for a third time.

Club is a shambles top to bottom with no sign of it changing.

RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - ACMILAN1983 - 01-12-2015

The Suso transfer is odd, mostly as the club just got Cerci and already has Honda. Unless some changes are going to happen in the summer when Suso arrives, the club's overloading in one area of the squad while desperately failing to address more obvious concerns.

Apparently rumours today suggest Inzaghi's considering changing to 4-2-3-1, as it looks unlikely he'll get a new midfielder. This means Montolivo and De Jong would be more central with Montolivo being more important in dictating play, while an additional position would be available higher up to accomodate for the numerous AMs/attackers in the squad.

If a coach cannot do that, then by definition he has failed. I am not saying everything that's gone wrong is on Pippo's head, but it is his responsibility to make sure his players are mentally prepared. If our objective is to do something in a match, then he needs to make sure his players eats and sleeps with that goal in mind.

I am sure our players have mental issues. No employee will ever have the will of steel when they are too comfortable with their environment. Laziness and complacency is the byproduct of the "Milan Family" environment for us. Even back in the glory days, we have had those issues because players like Seedorf doesn't really even need to run on the field, but Pippo is supposed to be the guy who comes in and change that. Look, i know Pippo has a really tough job, but if he is not prepared to do that, then he shouldn't have been our coach to begin with. His tenure so far is eerily reminiscent of Torres' tenure with us. Started strong, and then start to decline to the point where it is just awful. The effort is probably there, but they are just not equipped to do what is needed from them. We signed Torres for name sake instead of quality, and Pippo is starting to feel the same. Again, it's not all his fault, but he certainly is not getting the job done.

I agree that it is the coach's responsibility that he prepares the players for a match, but I also think it's the player's responsibility to adhere to what is required of him as a professional. If the player doesn't fulfill his professional obligations, then they have to take responsibility.

It's the same in any profession. Any kind of manager is responsible for their staff and needs to work to get the best and most productivity out of their staff. However, there are cases where the manager can do little about poor productivity because the staff are unqualified to fulfill their duties or don't apply themselves when working.

Inzaghi during his tenure as coach hasn't exactly been perfect. However, my point is that the problems this season are very similar, if not the same, as when Allegri and Seedorf were managing. That trend suggests the problems are deeper than just the coach doing a poor job.

I do disagree that laziness and complacency are a byproduct of the "Milan family" somewhat (not totally). Milan has generally been known for it's professionalism and work ethic, even players like Seedorf were recognised as hard workers during the peak years of Ancelotti's time in charge. Then you have the club's flag bearers like Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta and Albertini etc. These guys are widely recognised as some of hardest working and professional players to have been in the game when you listen to their colleagues. Things have changed in the past 6-7 years or so, something the club needs to reverse the trend on.

About your follow up post about Inzaghi doing better with what he has. I have posted in the past that while individually this squad looks ok on paper, the messy and disjointed way the squad has been cobbled together makes it difficult to get a coherent side and consistent results. Personally, I think this is a very poor squad, even if the players themselves aren't particularly bad. Until the club as a whole changes direction and starts working to rebuild with a clear plan in mind, this BS will just continue.

Of course, Galliani has basically admitted that there's not really a structured plan in place with his recent comments about the market and targets changing all the time.

RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - nefremo - 01-12-2015

I just can't believe how many points we are dropping to mid-lower table teams. The squad may be constructed in a terrible way and surely we can't compete for a spot in the CL semi-final......but we should be performing a lot better against teams like Torino. For this, everyone has to take the blame....including Inzaghi.

Let me ask you guys something.........Do you guys think that Destro is THAT much of an upgrade over Pazzini or Torres? I understand that he's got an upside because he is young and all that.....but he is pretty much the same type of player as those guys (Torres in his best years was much more then just a box-striker actually but anyway).....so I just want to know if you guys think he is better than those guys that he will help our season so much.

To answer my own question.......It's hard to say if he is a better player then those guys (it's hard to define "better" in this game), but even if he is "better" and very minimal and it's very much up for debate. Maybe right now he might be in better physical shape than those two and he is obviously younger...but in the grand scheme of things I don't think he will add anything more than what those guys offer/ed to this side. I don't think Destro is much of an upgrade over Pazzini and we already have Pazzini here. Why are we willing to (supposedly) invest in Destro when we can just play Pazzini and invest in the midfield! I don't understand.......

With Ibrahimovic, we may be able to retain the lost 17 points, exactly the difference between Milan and Juventus now on the table.

Milan has an agreement with Destro. Still need to convince Roma.

RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - Jay Crisp - 01-12-2015

Destro agreement.Good if he comes without SES leaving now or in the summer.
€15m or more ?...seems excessive but he even gets 10-15 goals a year it will be a plus.

Zaccardo Agazzi Essien Saponara Pazzo should all be moved on.I know Pazzo said he's staying until his contract is up.

I just pray for a midfielder.I know its not likely to happen , not a good one anyway an upgrade.I would let DeJong leave if we got €5m or anything above.Loan out Niang & try to secure Suso now and not in June...Destro Cerci Suso & a mid would help.Maybe not for 3rd but EL at least.

RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - Mystik - 01-12-2015

The South American U-20 Cup kicks off this week actually. Hopefully we have some scouts out there looking at players so that we can get them before they are out of our price range (i.e anything above $5M Euros..Facepalm)

RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - slifersd - 01-12-2015

We can't scout U-20 cup for players man, too expensive for us. By the time everyone else is already watching their games, those players would basically be out of our reach. We should be scouting in the slums of Brazil streets, and find those ghetto kids playing soccer without shoes or shirt. Those guys are probably willing to play for us for bread, which is probably within our price range.

I don't like how Milan would always talk to the players first then the club. I believe it is illegal these days. Didn't Atletico Madrid threaten to sue Inter Milan for doing it on Cerci? For me, it is not a matter of legality, but one of decency and morality. Galliani doesn't seem to care though.
