There is only one thing.. ONE THING that I have yet to understand about last night's match..

How in gods name did Rooney miss that corner kick so horribly?!!

Well he barely did any running on defense..so I'm not surprised that he didn't cramp Icon_lol2

Excellent free kick near the end and that dummy for Marchisio's goal...pure class

True, but one can say that it was because he used it wisely. :d and you can't deny that it is pretty damn funny that three young English players were down while no one in Italy suffered. Icon_lol2

about ZB's mediocre Italian squad (which I agree), and Nalx and Dev's comments that this game was entertaining (which I also agree Big Grin), I think they don't necessarily contradict. I can at least speak for myself that it is probably the nostalgia effect. I certainly miss the side with all the "big names" and great amount of "swag". Even Cannavaro, I remember thinking of that guy as "not elegant enough". :d

How ugly is that Paletta guy? For a second, I thought Conte was called back to Azzurri. Icon_lol2

I just read that de Sciglio will be available starting next match, but Buffon may miss the entire group stage.

RE: Group-D - WC 2014 - Stitch - 06-15-2014

I dont really care about Buffon since Sirigu is very decent replacement

I was just thinking out loud, why all these attentions to these admittedly mediocre players and their clumsiness when those are what makes that game entertaining. I guess there's more than one way to see a game. Maybe it's because I root for neither team I can enjoy it so much. I was at the edge of my seat when Darmian galloped forward or everytime the England players tested Sirigu from distance.

I don't actually support any team, but I agree Nalx often comments focus on the negative more than the positive. I'm guilty of this as much as anyone, but I guess it's often because the positives can make for less interesting discussion. I was really impressed by the Italy passing game though and should they find a better balance they can cause real problems this tournament.

I actually supported BOTH teams, that's what makes me sad seeing the players quality as xudong said, less big names than before. But I also said that the game itself is very entertaining. It flows, good attacking and good defending by both sides, the score was tight also. Maybe because both are on same level (mediocre)? Sagrin

what a fighter Pereira is. refused to be subbed after just a bad knock on the temple.
