RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - reza - 04-19-2016 Serie A team with 90 million losses and no Europe valued at 1 billion is suspicious in itself. I would go as far as saying I don't trust someone willing to pay 1 billion for Milan. RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - nefremo - 04-19-2016 Anything is possible with the recent Chinese investments. I mean, paying 45+ mil for Jackson, crazy prices for Guarin, Teixeira, etc....reported crazy salary offers to Zlatan... They might just be willing to overpay in order to snatch Milan out of Berlusconi's hands. This might be the only way for him to give up majority. Also, Serie A has been shot and they've barely had any growth in ages...but Milan is still a huge name with millions of supporters worldwide. The club has potential just like how Barca and Real have grown so much in a shit no money league like La Liga. Btw, I don't mean the quality of la Liga is shit, as actually I think it's the highest quality league in Europe. I'm talking about the commercial aspect and the way it's managed. I think the potential in Milan is huge. The fact that Serie A isn't as attractive as it used to be actually is an advantage. You have the opportunity to create one of only a couple brands that people will care about in your country (Italy). You can suck up almost all of the commercial money in the country this way. RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - reza - 04-19-2016 If they can generate income/profit for 'themselves' as owners I will be pleasantly surprised. I mean there is barely any real interest in any team outside of England even when the team costs may be 100 million at most. RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - nefremo - 04-19-2016 Well, they won't make a profit. Even if they do, it'll be some measly 5-10-15 mil per year. It'll be ages before they get a return on their investment. So they'll probably use the brand to enter a new market. If the rumors are true that "Great Wall motors" is one of the investors, they'll probably use Mipan to tap into the Western European market. Never mind all of the accounting benefits they'd get from having this big of an asset, etc. The other option is if they are fans and want to use Milan as a toy. But I don't perceive Chinese businessmen in that way so I don't think that's what's going on. RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - reza - 04-19-2016 Hope for the best. Still betting on a Berlusconi "can't sell" line. Which also reminds me, we need to check if there are any elections in Italy this year. For this year there is only one referendum in october. RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - porcho - 04-20-2016 See, that's where my opinion differs. I actually think an Asian investor can actually start to make good money... It just needs to be done properly... Nothing stopping them opening an academy in China which means more fans and adds commercial value. Nothing stopping them doing what Manchester CIty have done and even add an A.C. Milan team there also. Let's not forget that this club, although currently in the shit, is followed by many from around the world, be it Europe, the US, Austalia(where i'm from), Asia. We don't need to bring more commercial appeal to get better, just need to Bring back the interest and get these fans on board again and manage it properly... We have heaps of fans in Japan... what happened to the regular seasonal friendly we used to do there... Those are the sort of things that will turn this club around. There's one thing these guys know how to do and that's run a business... At the end of the day, that's what a sporting club is these days, a business. Increase brand awareness and appeal and you get bums on seats and merchandise sold. such a basic concept we seem to have lost sight of. That's my 5c worth... He is just one of the bigest egomaniacs in the world at this moment. He know that majority of fans will celebrate day when he will step aside and he just can't handle that. That's why he hesitate. For the matter of love he loves money much more over AcMilan. He proved it by amount of "investments" he gave in last 6 years. Also bringing Kucka instead of Witsel ,or signing Boateng or 99% or our "reinforcements" in last few years are also proof of his "love" for AcMilan. Everything, everything just to spare few euros. When somebody "loves" you like he "loves" AcMilan - you don't need anybody to hate you. |
