It was not about Mazraoui but despite knowing that Calabria is the weakest link in the squad, all we getting a player who is barely an upgrade over Calabria.

Was browsing that freebie list... Besides Martial... What do you guys think about "German grandphas" - Hummels, Reus, Matip? There is also Rabiot. Some guy named Mario Hermoso (never heard of, it says he's valued at 25M, 29 years, DC). Depay (wouldn't like) and Serhio Ramos. Maybe to pick one of those oldies, they know things, might implement something into our players...

I don't rate Calabria, but I personally would say the DM position is the weakest spot right now. So to me the fact that the management recognized that the RB position also needs to be rejuvenated is a plus, despite it not being an emergency.
Anyway, I've not seen any player get this condemnation before he even played a single game for us, like Emerson.
He's already here, just give him a chance. Let him prove to you he's as bad as you'll claimed.

Hermoso we've already been linked with, so has Inter. Played for Atletico Madrid.
Reus is going to MLS. And no, I don't think we need the other ones either. If we get Fofana, Samardzic then no to Rabiot. Well, if the alternative forward is Broja then maybe yes to Depay...

The funny part about everyone saying how bad Emerson will be, is that 99% of you probably haven't seen him play. In my opinion, he's a good option and instantly better than Calabria. EPL if a player doesn't settle in well they are instantly criticized and made into a mockery. Meanwhile an English player like Rashford who can't put the ball in the back of an empty net half the time is appointed by the queen. EPL has ruined countless star players with real quality. Look how hyped the England NT is, everyone is apparently this big super star yet they flop year in year out. There's not a single player on England other than Jude that I actually rate as highly as people give them credit for. Had it not been for Pep coaching Man City and Klopp coaching Liverpool & giving both teams a non-English playing style I don't think EPL would've seen a single CL in the last decade or more.
Shevchenko was my top 3 fave players in our entire history and Chelsea fans to this day claim he was the worst signing ever, look how he played there. I don't think it's fair to judge Emerson so harshly before we see him in action. He has got a lot of quality and I'm confident he'll show it.

True, sometimes it just doesnt work out for players at some clubs. and especially in the EPL were there is so much money you arent giving any time to prove yourself they just buy 2 or 3 replacements.
And I agree premier league players are massively overrated and overpriced, especially the english ones. Their national team is supposed to be full of stars yet they play like sht. It was a wonder they reached the final in the euros and they got totally outplayed by bilbao, leipzich, sociedad , sevilla and atletico players.
I expect Emerson to be quite an improvement over Calabria, especially defensively. Calabria has been very bad last 2 seasons.
