RE: La Liga - Mystik - 10-23-2012

People really overrate the world cup. I don't think Messi necessarily has to win a world cup to prove anything. If the guy continues at the rate he's going, he'll probably have won about 6-7 CL's by the time he has retired. In terms of quality, I'd say the CL > WC. In any case, he also has at least 2 more world cups left in him before he starts to decline. I'd laugh it Argentina go and win the WC in Brazil..that would be the ultimate slap in the face.

P.S. Messi has been playing well with Argentina for a while now..but he wasn't scoring as much since he was in primarily playmaking. He changed position now and now he's scoring like everyone's used to.

Actually not the world cup or trophy with NT but how he performs with NT. If he can't reach his performance with NT like in Barca it is OK but there should not be so much different between his form with club and NT. We have seen many football superstars brought his clubs the the highest level of competition but still managed to at least perform with their NT as well as in their respective clubs.

From my point of view, I see a superstar in Barcelona name Messi but only good player (best one very good player but many of the games only in unknown games like qualification for WC for examples) with Argentina NT. If he has grade 10 with Barca, he should get at least grade 8,5-9 with NT, not only 7-8 (or even sometimes 7 sometimes 8 and sometimes also 6).

Messi was pretty bad in the past, but his recent performance with Argentina NT has been stellar, and consistent (for close to a year now?). I feel that he is on the right track to become the world's best now that he feels at ease at the NT. I really do think so.

@ Siregar Interesting post about the Club and NT performance.

By the way, I have always wondered, who were the supportive play-makers for Maradona in his club and NT, particularly from 86-90. The only players with some kind of recognizable names from his NT days are Daniel Passarella & Cludio Cannggia, but Passarella was a CD and didn't play a single game in WC86 and Canniggia was a winger, who used to play as a false #9. & I think Zola was his team mate at Napoli?!?!? Other than that, I have never heard any other so called big name players who are associated with Maradona the way Xavi-Iniesta with Messi, or Rivaldo-Ronaldinho with Ronaldo etc.

Messi scored 2 today against Betis, and set the new world record of 86 goals in one year. There are still a few games left in 2012, so most likely that 86 won't be the final number.

Another amazing result: Falcao scored five goals against La Coruna. What a player! I hope that link below works for you.

Good for him. I was worried when I saw the footage of him being carried out on their last UCL game because I really, really wanted him to break this record. His talent is of the highest quality and so are his humility and dedication. Our own Pato would asked for three weeks of therapeutic sessions in Mediterranean Sea if he received that knock to his thigh Grinundwech

RE: La Liga - xudong - 12-10-2012

Pato's expected return has been further delayed for another two months, no?

At this rate, Pato could actually become the biggest joke in Milan history. Facepalm

On Messi, I didn't watch the game, but heard that he almost scored a hattrick except that the third goal hit the post. With three or four matches left, maybe he could score 100. Pato has scored 1 goal so far in Serie A since the beginning of last season. Dodgy

RE: La Liga - ACMILAN1983 - 12-10-2012

Congrats to Messi, it's a remarkable achievement

RE: La Liga - Aficio - 12-10-2012

I think all of us expected this record. It is a blessing to have such player in this era of football.

Congratulation, Messi!!! Forza Messi!!!

RE: La Liga - xudong - 12-10-2012

I wouldn't go as far as "forza messi" :d but I am happy that he set the new record. I was actually a bit disappointed when I heard that he was injured and thought he would be sidelined for the rest of 2012.
