So Galliani not getting €213.8M from Berlusconi to spend, excuses him from spending 13M on Matri, and perhaps 7M on this Tarabat asshole? Not to mention signing all this garbage like Traore, Mesbah, Constant, Zaccardo, and wanting to loan out Cristante and Saponara, not to mention already loaning out Niang, the one guy who can play RW in our new 4-2-3-1 system.. He knew we were switching formations when we got Seedorf, so why would he do that? And what about re-signing all those idiots .. too many to even name.. long contracts for bench warmers to make millions.
He's done nothing but link us with serie a garbage, free signings, and does not push our brand Internationally. He's 20 years behind.
Lastly, this may seem like a small thing, but not signing Honda in September, and more importantly, not signing Montolivo 6 months before we actually got him also was a major fuck up. He should have had the baton passed to him by the Senatori. He should have been there when they left, so he could learn from them in those 6 months about the culture of the club, and witness the day they left and cried. He came in to Boateng and Robinho running the club. These types of things are VERY important.

I don't agree that the only person to blame is Berlu. That's not true. I used to think like that, but not anymore. Milan as a company has a revenue of 260+mil a year (among the top 10 in Europe...mind you, we are not a top 10 team in quality). It is up to Galliani as a CEO to allocate that budget. He chose to give the likes of Flamini and Mexes 5 and 4 mil a year contract before tax. Deals like this is what's been burning our money. We have a wage bill as high as Bayern yet not half the quality. We have the highest wage bill in Italy yet we are nowhere near a title winning team.
We need to stop with the myth that Berlu is supposed to dish out 20/30/40 mil euro a year to sign players for a company (Milan) that already has 250+ mil in revenue. Someone is misusing that money and its been Galliani. We consistently have 30+ players on our roster. If 5-6 of them were not here in the first place, we could free up 10-15 mil of the budget to be used for transfers. Look at Bayer...they don't have a sugar daddy yet they've done wonders. If Galliani can't work with a budget of 250mil a year, and will need an extra 20-30 to strengthen the company, well then he's effectively failed. This club makes far too much money to be in shit like this. It's being mismanaged big time.
I'm not even going to mention the 12mil spent on Matri because my blood still boils over that. But you know what, that happens. Some signings work out and some don't. It is what it is. The biggest problem is the wagebill in contrast to what we see in return.
I just don't know why we keep looking at football clubs as hobbies for owners. Yes, for some that's what they are (City, Chelsea, PSG) and that's what it was for Berlu too some years ago (although more for popularity reasons for him)....but we are no longer this, and I'm fine with that....because for a company with this revenue we should be ok and competitive if the funds are disbursed in the correct way. We need someone that can do this. What's the point of having Galliani there if he can only function when given a treasure chest. Isn't 250mil a big enough chest already? Give him 120mil and he'll run circles around Juventus? He could have had 120mil during these years if he didn't give out 1/2/3/4 mil euro contracts to people that were only good enough to play a handful of games for this club.
Then again give me 120mil and I'll do wonders too. What sets him apart from the others if he needs additional money because he literary wasted everything else that was available to him.
I'm not saying Berlu is blameless here.....but my god...what Galliani has done with our budget is inexcusable.

Few millions apart from Roma and Fio, yet the quality of players we have is shockingly shitty.

Those stats are dubious at best given very little information is given on how they were collated or whether changes in monetry value are factored, stuff I've discussed with Xu in the thread he originally posted this.
On top of that, it's a poor indication on how much clubs have spent, only taking into account one form of spending (transfer fees). We all acknowledge that we don't spend on transfers (Galliani's regularly joked about regarding this), but our problems are costs elsewhere, usually wages.
Also, we're talking about the current squad in this chart, but what if this chart was made just a couple of years ago? Then we'd be top without a doubt, as we had guys like Seedorf, Nesta, Ibra and Rino etc. It's not just a case that we've only just started spending poorly in recent years that's up for debate, but years of mismanagement which leads to the current situation.
However, getting back to wages, we're still not spending correctly, as we overpay our players by insane amounts (a reason they won't leave). We (just) have the 2nd biggest wage bill in Italy after Juve and that's after major cutbacks in the past year and a half. How do we justify how much we pay our players, while Inter pay theirs less and still have members of their treble winning squad.
On top of that, you look at Juve's spending in salaries and the top earners are their key players. Those who earn a fair chunk of money but aren't first team players are either shipped off or there have been attempts to sell. Examples include Vucinic who Juve are trying to sell this winter and Marchisio who was very close to leaving in the summer.
Our highest earners are crocked players who are no longer physically able to play at the highest level (e.g. Kaka and Essien), Balotelli (unreliable and a big risk) or overrated talents who happen to have struck gold (e.g. Robinho and Mexes).
Juve are probably the best run club in Italy atm. They spend right now because they can and while we decided to try and go big with buying past their best household names (e.g. Ronaldo and Dinho, Kaka's return etc), they went from Serie B and starting again to building the infrastructure (the stadium) to at least try and get financial stability. I don't even think they've been particularly amazing in the market. Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba and Llorente were inspired transfers, but they've generally just made sound purchases (e.g. the Liechsteiners and Asamoahs) which fit their philosophy. I'd say they've overpaid for others, like Ogbonna, Quagriarella and Isla, but ultimately haven't gone so far to shoot themselves in the foot and not be able to compensate. They may falter in the future and end up like us, but right now they've got into a position where they are doing what's in their reach. The irony is we're the club with the highest revenue in Italy, so we should at least be able to compete with them. Galliani's the one who manages how to use this money and no one can say he's done good with it. Berlu might own the club, but it's clear his involvement in the past decade has been marginal at best.
Berlusconi has to take a lot of blame, I don't think you'll find many will disagree here, but Galliani's been running the club day to day for years now. He's the one giving out these contracts, buying players who aren't needed or useful, creating a bloated squad and mismanaging the use of revenue in the club.

Galliani's distribution of the budget is just awful.
With our squad and returning players , we'll have 36 players in the squad a wage bill thats HUGEEEE biggest in Italia and no UCL money.
Facts like that even if we sell say Mexes Binho Matri Noce Constant you are looking at amiserable lean sad summer mercato.

On from touching down in Milan, Adel Taarabt has reflected on the ‘honour’ he sees in being able to sign for the Rossoneri.
The 24-year-old is in Milan today to conclude talks and undergo medical examinations on an initial loan move the club have agreed with parent club QPR and will inherit from Fulham.
“I am honoured to be able to play at the best club in the world,” Taarabt has told Milan Channel this morning.
“I have spoken with Seedorf and we are both happy. I am an attacker and I like to play behind the strikers.
“I do not know Balotelli personally, but I know who he is and I am pleased to be able to play with him.”
