Dev, Kondogbia is not best as anchor. As a matter of fact I've never seen him play there. He is best utilized as a 2-way midfielder. A true box-to-box player. So switching him and Montolivo would be better I think.
Anyhow, that's still a very average midfield (I know this midfield isn't your choice and you're just going from the players we are linked to). If we are going to spend upwards of €100mil, then I would find it criminal that we dont add at least 2 class CMs out of which at least one has to be very very technical. If we do sign Kondogbia, we need to add another very technical midfielder.
On Verratti, I don't know if it's just my desire to see him in a Milan shirt messing with my mind, but I don't see what's so impossible. PSG has been giving Rabiot more and more time, and they want Pogba and possibly Di Maria. Throw 50-60mil € towards them and you'll see that anything is possible. Verratti will also absolutely say yes to a comeback to Italy if it is a team that can compete for titles. I think he should be a priority. If it's really not possible than someone like him - Gundogan. Bertolacci should also be signed IMO. Great player that will add a lot.
I'm iffy on Hummels. But I'm not going to deny that he is better then anything we have right now so it would stupid to say no.
Romagnoli or Rugani would be great for us to get and have a great young Italian CB back there. Pairing Romagnoli up with Hummels is a very enticing idea indeed.
Honsano.....yes it looks like a bad idea to pay Ibra 6.5-7 mil at his age for 3 years. But he is a grand name. He still brings people to the stadium and in front of the TV. He brings sponsors and he makes the club relevant. I wrote a post a few months ago about this....the problem isn't paying guys like Ibra 7mil...it's paying guys like Mexes and Muntari 3-4 mil. You get rid of those two and you can have Ibra no problem. If the squad is built correctly, this isn't a problem IMO. Also, Ibra's game never relied on characteristics that go away with age, so I don't see why he wouldn't still be the best forward in Italy for a couple more years.

Ibra is kind of a different type of player. The guy can actually carry the entire offense by himself with his skill set. A player of any other kind, like Destro (and perhaps Jackson Martinez), would struggle due to lack of service from midfield, but Ibra can actually do ok there. The midfield he operated in wasn't exactly the strongest in the world when he was here, and he still managed to do plenty of scoring.
I think the most important thing for us is to change our mentality. This team has been a low quality team trying to over-achieve for the last few years, and the results have been bad. It's time for us to bring in some guys who can strike fear into the opponent's eyes. It's time for us to over-talented for CL instead of trying to play some kind of magic formation to get us there.

I'm perfectly fine on paying Ibra even 8 million a year for 3 years. Why? Well our track record when we're frugal is abysmal, as our towering losses prove. So why not pay for players who can bring added value immediately, give us a shot at the CL? Better pay Ibra 8 than let's say 4, allocating the remaining amount for a mediocre player currently on our books.
We have to pay to make our way. We don't have a stellar youth system that nurtures prodigies, and we don't have the time to experiment with younger players without a beast like Ibra, who will bring so much to this team.

Nefremo I completely agree. Kondogbia is not a technical player, and we've had non technical destroyers or box to boxes the last few years like Poli and NDJ, we've always been lacking a technician in our mid.
Di Marzio confirms today that Milan is trying to buy BOTH Ibrahimovic and Martinez, because we plan to play a 4-3-1-2. Martinez could be done as early as today or tomorrow, whereas Ibrahimovic has openly stated his willingness to return while PSG is trying to find a big name to replace him.
We're linked to Hummels which is great to see, but I'd personally love to see Thiago Silva back in a Milan shirt. The only official jerseys I have with names on the back are Shevchenko, Nesta, Kaka and T.Silva, those are my favorite players to play for us, and having the opportunity to have Silva back would be amazing. It was really tough seeing him leave, but it was almost as hard letting Ibra go.
Ibrahimovic, we need to stop questioning his age. It is NOT a factor, his numbers just get more impressive as he gets older. It's his stature and the way he can keep control of the ball WITH such a big stature that make him the player he is, those are two things you'll never lose with age. Athleticism sure, those crazy back heel goals he scores may not happen much after next season, but I guarantee he'll still dominate Seria A, and regardless, we have money now, even if he's not a guaranteed starter after his first season, he's still an extreme luxury to have.
THINK ABOUT IT: PAY IBRA 7M A YEAR WHERE HE'LL GUARANTEE US CL QUALIFICATION (ILL PUT MY LIFE SAVINGS ON IT), AND WE MAKE DOUBLE WHAT WE PAY HIM IN WAGES FOR QUALIFYING.
Im not convinced with Honda playing as CAM though if I'm honest. We need someone better. Firmino, Draxler? anyone along those lines. He's too predictable and slow for my liking, he can give a good ball and make some decisive plays but he's not consistently dangerous enough. Then again, our goal is to qualify for CL next season, I dont expect us to have a perfect 11 of world class players over one mercato, even if we'll get close.

Now, all those players I don't expect over one mercato, but this is a realistic estimation of what we can do (if that 150m is really available in full) over the course of summer and January mercato. Young Italian depth and an unstoppable starting lineup.
My final question is, if we play a 4-3-1-2, where does ELS fit??

ELS if off the bench in such a set up. May not be the worst for him to build his confidence back up, BUT he may not stay to see such a situation considering hte talk about him going to EPL.
I get what all you guys are saying about Ibra essentially being a guarantee at performing well in the league. Prior to joining us, he had one a league title in like all his seasons or something ridiculous like that. I just worry this is more of that short-term view when instead we need a long term view. The guy will be 33. People get injured when they are older, particularly when they play in physical leagues.
Then you have the team factor. He is not known for being a great teammate and he is not known for doing well in CL. Ok, so we get to CL next season, then what? This guy isn't going to win it for us. I realize i'm in the minority here, but personally, I would rather invest in longer term targets like Veratti while giving ELS a chance to shine. TBH let's see if ANY of this happens first. I'd rather some investment, be Ibra or anyone, than no investment.

Verratti is a gem, not a player I'd see any team letting go of..
On the other hand, recent rumours link us to Witsel for the midfield and Godin for the defence.
Witsel, Kondogbia and one of Baselli or Bertolacci. Those are good investments because were in desperate need of a good midfield. That's not to say we dont need to revamp our attack, I completely agree with mgmt in buying two big names like Martinez and Ibra, our attack is full of slightly above average players like Cerci,Menez and Honda. Good players to have come off the bench, but no world beaters I'll tell you that.
We'll have a very physical side if we sign those players.. Baselli is a tall kid IIRC, and both Witsel and Kondogbia have strong statures. Not to mention Ibra and Martinez, they are beasts (Ibra is the king of that). We'll almost be building a Bayern like squad, big physical and technical players.

There is a story that Martinez is done, we pay him 3.5 million per season and similar to Ibra must talk details with Porto.
His release clause is 35 million, if Galliani really wants him I am sure he will arrange something lower

I read that we have agreed to pay the 35 million they want, so it's down to details at this point. Galliani wants to pay in installments while Porto wants the whole transfer fee now, but it sounds highly likely that Martinez will be playing for Milan next season.
