Agree wi Reza being smart and being cheap is a huge difference. Not saying Milan needs to get Honda, Cesc, Hernanes, Hamsik and Pastore at one go but when you look at it, the forwards are set since Jan while the defense is set since March or April, when Milan signed Mexes and Taiwo. Thus between April and now, all Milan needs to do is get quality midfielders who can improve the starting eleven. Not going into the debate of whether Aqua was a panic buy and a planned purchase, but do you honestly believe Aqua can improve the starting 11 of Milan? He is a better passer than Gattuso, better dribbler than Boateng, should run faster than Slowdrof and got a better shot than MVB, but can he knock any of the four off the starting lineup? He does provide another option in the offensive mid but not like there was any in Milan to begin with. I think the best way to describe him is an offensive version of Ambro, and I am not making fun at him being injury prone like Ambro. Well, I love the way Ambro plays and conducts himself, but he is really a player who does everything above average but nothing
great. That's why I have this comparison with Aqua and Ambro.
It is true that even if Milan signed Pastore, Hernanes and Hamsik, they probably won't be able to knock Barca off, but at least they are showing their fans they wants to challenge them. If every team thinks there is no point to challenge Barca and Real and should just concentrate of building the team slowly, then CL will be really boring.
On top of that, fans might need to pay subscription for Serie A games or Milan games in summer, or season tickets buyers....surely with what Berlu and Galli were saying, they all would think Milan is willing to put out a great product that includes players like Hamsik, and at the end you end up with nothing like that. Is that fair to them, who paid their hard earned money to a team who they loved but are being played by the people who owes it. You might say those who wishes to only pay to see Milan with Hamsik or Cesc are not true Milan fans or are fans only bc Milan is winning....I am sure there are people like that but you got to start somewhere to begin following a club and the easiest way to start that is by following winners. From my exp. on this forum, I would say that 98% of us are not from Milan and only started following Milan due to certain players or their domination eras, from then we all grew to bleed Red and Black.
Point is, fans have every right to be piss at MGT, after all, if you talk a big game you better back it up.

Reading some posts here it seems everyone is quite intelligent and on the same page. Our Summer Mercato 2011 has been descent at best. More than the fact a World Class player (midfielder) did not arrive, the fact that our Management lied about it is what is more disappointing. It seems as thought Berlusconi & Galliani don't want anyone knowing if they have money or not, with the truth being they're not willign to spend (whether they have or not). Some clubs have money and do not spend (Arsenal), some clubs have money & Spend (Man City), and some clubs go into massive debt (Barcelona). It seems we're in a 4th category of teams who don't have and don't spend, despite having an owner who is apparently won of the richest men in the World?Huh

Mexes, Taiwo, Aquilani & El Shaaraway are a step in the right direction. One ACM would be prefered and my choice was always one of Hamsik or Ganso. My feeling over Kaka is that while he would improve our squad, he's not moving us into the future.

I like the packed 4-man diamond midfield but with 3 hard working midfielders could we not play something like this (IF Cassano&Robinho track back)???:

--------------------Ibra/Pato------------------
Robinho---------------------------------Cassano
----------Aquilani----------Boateng-------------
-----------------Van Bommel--------------------
Taiwo--------T.Silva-----Nesta----------Abate
---------------------Abbiati-----------------------

Welcome to MM Smile

Point well said.Okmilan. Okay so how concrete is the information on Kaka s reunioun with us. As much as i am excited about the thought of Kaka coming back to us somwhere deep down in my head lies a tingling question of us spending 15 mil eur. if thats true and should we have used that money more wisely?? Anyways am not out right against Kaka coming back to us though he may not be for the future but he will definitely be a solution for this season and maybe the next just unit lil El Sharaawy can grow and become the next Kaka for Milan.

I agree than that's what annoys me the most. Every summer the management cry "a champion will arrive" and more often than not it's a 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice player at the end of August leaving fans dismayed. Year after year the presidents from other clubs make fun and point out that Milan is broke, you have to wonder if they know something we don't. I'd rather they said nothing and surprise us, or at least sign the mr x after the summer long of talk.

This year I've no doubt the Finnivest fine has hurt Berlusconi summer and has severely limited our activity, for which we've done well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful that uncle fester has done a magnificent job with the (lack of) funds he has been given but he's also kept players longer than he should have with high earning contracts that could be better invested elsewhere.

However if I had a choice between signing Messi or confirming the ownership of either the San Siro or a new stadium I would take the later because it guarantees not only our future, but a competitive future (like Juventus). The complete lack of direction by our management makes me sometimes wish we had new owners who could concentrate on the club rather that be caught with their pants down repeatedly.

In order to have a bargain buy, the player must want to play for Milan more than anything. With this point, only Kaka is available.

Rumor: Malaga could be interested in Urby.

Kaká for 15 million would be a bargain. He's only 29 and known to be very athletic and serious, so if he stays clear of major injuries he can easily play at the top level for 4-5 more years. A world class player who will lift our team and boost morale from his first day at Milanello. Come on Kaká!

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 08-28-2011

i think kaka would do us very well for next season, the season after or two seasons later (hopefully kaka keeps his performances to par) we should be able to more so rely on el shaarawy, he looks already mature enough to play

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Jay Crisp - 08-28-2011

Oddo , Yepes , Zambro , Seedorf , Rino , Ambro , V.Bommel , Pippo all need to be gone next season I mean next year all will be 35 and over .The reality is more than likely only Oddo and Pippo will.
It's a disaster still when it comes to the age if a large chunk of our team..Aquilani and Flaminin and Urby are the only players we have that are natural midfielders under 34 , that's ridiculous .It's okay to have a Giggs and a Scholed playing 25-30 games a year..but does anyone think if Utd still had Beckham P.Neville Butt Veron as an integral part if their team that they'd be anywhere near CL finals , and add Heinze V.Nistrlrooy D Yorke there aswell..Our renewal policy is ruining the club ..

It's gone so far now that we have no realistic chance of replacing those guys with anyone worth a w**k.Unless they cost 1-5 million or are out if contract..all those players were so good in there prime that if we wanted to replace them even over 3 years you're talking 150-200 million.
We are about to enter a time where guys like Ambro Rino Seedorf are still at the club at 37 and 38.We'll get Monty next year for free seems to be popular we need him now.

I don't care about the lies upon lies upon lies anymore , the midfield and defense backups need to be straightened out..I mean this time next year Ibra will be 31 Mexes 30 Cassano 30 , they seem to be incapable of making rational decisions and with signings ,there were plenty of quality players between 20-26 available these last few mercatos but the never seem to sign them..Binho was a great signing and Silva turned out awesome..but unless they find a way to spend on players then in the next 2-4 years the club will fail miserably.
