Robinho, ibra, Boateng all arrived to Milan last season. They were newcomers, they will do a lot better this season.

Aquilani could have been Vice-Pirlo. Who will they now bring in if and when Pirlo gets injured?? Now they have all rather DM's to fill in the (2 CDM) spots in midfield. If they really thought he was good, I don't think they would have passed on him. Same for AS Roma & Liverpool (although Aquilani's game does not fit that ugly British style)

Robinho, Ibra, Boateng, & Cassano all did very very well last season. Ibra can improve slightly but the others I think did great. Don't expect them to do better than they did last season, because that is their top form.

LIVERPOOL will give their answer on Wednesday.

Busy day at via Turati as Milan are edging closer and closer to signing midfielder Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool. A five-hour meeting between the parties involved was held today at the Rossoneri HQ.

Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani, Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavaglia attended the meeting and Milan have finally made a formal bid for the former Juventus and Roma player.

Milan have reportedly offered Liverpool to sign the player on loan with an option/obligation to sign the player the next summer for €8m paid over three installments. It is also understood that in order to come back to Italy, Aquilani had agreed to cut €200,000 off his wages. ‘Pool will give their answer on Wednesday.

Negotiations will continue in the next days and like Zavaglia said, everything will be done by Thursday.

Pirlo doesn't really fit into football anymore hes so slow to react and run as well and those long air balls dont much work anymore, go look at our game yesterday he was spreading the ball well but nothing came of any of it.. bottom line is aqua can run and at least bring the ball forward

I personally would not call Aquilani as the "new" Pirlo. If you piece the puzzle together, do you remember last week's quote from Boateng saying " I enjoy playing trequartista, but now I will be moved into midfield"

I think the plan for Aquilani was made last week, and Allegri will use Aquilani as his starting Attacking Central Midfielder (ACM). I HIGHLY doubt Aquilani will play LCM as Boateng has already announced he will play there. Gattuso/Seedorf & Van Bommel will fill the other two spots, although there will be a slight rotational system. Watch & see.....

Us fools here thought we'd be seeing Ganso, Hamsik, Pastore or even Cesc playing ACM for us this season... but NO, our new ACM is Alberto Aquilani...

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-22-2011

I really don't want to argue who is a better player between Aqua and Pirlo, or why Juve passed Aqua up or why Milan picked him up......We will all know about Aqua and Milan by the end of June next year if not earlier. My bet would be around October where we kept cursing Max for playing Slowdorf game after game after game for walking around the pitch and losing the ball while Aqua does not even get a minute.

I think Max is a modern coach who wants Milan to play with more movement and speed along with pressing all over the pitch, problem is that he does not have the players to do so. Ideally, he would probably want someone like Ozeil as ACM, with Hernanes and Bastian as CMs with MVB as DM. Upfront he would prefer to have Villa and Ibra.

If what you said is true, how cheap can Milan be, loan with an option to buy along with three installments. Meaning Milan starts paying in 2012, 2013 and 2014, all for a total of 8mil? Did they even pay for lunch during the meeting or asks to put it in Aqua's agent tap?

When I read the Boateng part last week, my thought was a actually moving Robinho as ACM since he is willing to track back.

People should stop bashing Aquilani only becouse he is not the big money signing you wanted. See him for the player he is, not for the highly expensive player he is not.
Signing Aquilani is a step in the right direction, I agree him only is not enough but is that his fault?

BTW the market aint over yet... go whining after 31 august.

Agree with everything you said. That's immature and irresponsible. I know it may sound harsh, but unless you can provide money from the signings you want, be grateful.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-22-2011

Well, we see the player that he is and that's why we are bashing him, hahaha. Come on mate, we bash players all the time while at the same time we praise players too.
At least from what I read and wrote, nobody really is bashing him bc he sucks, we are all pretty piss about the lies from MGT and they are embracing themselves again with their actions, most noticeably a panic buy. In short, we are not bashing Aqua we are bashing MGT and it so happens that Aqua is the guy Milan is signing.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Jay Crisp - 08-22-2011

So we can't have an opinion now ?.
I think he is a solid player , my bashing as you put it is the cheapness the outright low tactic of paying for a player at 8 mil over 3 years and looking for the first year to be free,
It has fuck all to do with Aqualani or the fact he is an ordinary player he'll be a squad player but we needed 2 players in mid that were very good to start. We constantly get promises , no other club promises anything .But our MGT every yearsays we'll sign this we sign that and don't.Its all well and good to say wait until the 31st well does anyone think we'll that player/players the team desperately need's.
The clubs attitude to transfers is that of mid table club looking to battle it into the Europa league.

We get told the squad is competitive , no it isn't .Its good for Serie A because its a poor league. We had our best season in years last season , Inter had their worst .And we won the league by 6 points.
If Inter had Leo from the start we would not of won the league.Does that take any gloss off it for me NO! , no it doesn't.But the fact is this by CL standards is an avferage team not great not good just basic run of the mil.

If things were made clear and they (MGT) Didnt talk such crap then it would be better. They talk big yet act small.CL no hope Serie A contenders , but to ask people to stop having an opinion until 31st isnt on.
