RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-22-2011

Can't believe some of you are giving credits t Galli for spotting cheap and free players. Did guys like Emerson, RO, Legro, Mattioni, Dilac, Hunter, Viduc and Cardacio even play a huge role for Milan. As for Aqua, he played for Juve last season and some of you stated he played well. Question 1. Juve was pretty crap last year and and not like Aqua led Juve for a better record, honestly think he can do betterin Milan? Q2. Juve bought two midfielders who plays in the same spot as Aqua and Pirlo, one for free and the other is about 10mil while they can't come to an agreement with Pool about Aqua for 12mil. Which means Aqua did not convince People at Juve to spend 2 mil more on him(10 for Vidal), despite some of you claiming he did well RO solid with them last year. Q3. What's the point loaning out Merkel and getting Aqua for the bench?

Really can't believe some of you are happy about this Aqua signing as I think this is a panic buy from the MGT to quiet the fans rather than a thought out plan to get the team what they need.

As for the team better than last year. Honestly I really don't think the starting Eleven is better than last year, if anything they might be worse due to Nesta, MVB, Gattuso, Slowdorf being a year older. Taiwo is a beast and Mexes adds depth.

Real signed Conteano due to their lack of width option while Sahin and Atimtop both add depth to their mid as JM does not wan to play Diarra and Gago. Overall, I think Real signings made more sense than Barca. As for their finance issue, as long as they own their stadiums and have players who can draw a huge followings, they will always

be a better shape than Milan. Maybe some of you are happy that Milan is more financially responsible....but it is like someone from a small town saying they are porud to have fresher milk than those living in the city, while people living in the city got more luxuries. Since I doubt any of you would rather have the combination of Aqua, Mexes, Taiwo and El sharraay than Hernanes, D Luiz, Contenao and Bastian.
Lastly, Milan is in a financial difficult position but that did not happen over night. Berlu is the owner of Milan for over 25 yrs and he is also one of the most powerful man in Italy. I refuse to believe that a man of his statue did not foresee the benefits of having a Stadium over all these years, yet he did nothing about it. Secondly, then there is the marketing issue and truly making Milan into a world wide brand like Real, Brca and ManU, an example of a missed opportunity is not having an Asian tour this f summer since they are playing in Beijing for the Super Cup. Thirdly cheap players, panic buys and bargin players as well as giving out huge contracts to existing players despite them being crap. Whose to blame but themselves on that. If you look back whenever Milan spend big, for a player over the past 10 yrs, they are never
bust except for Gila. Sheva, Rui Costa, Nesta, Pippo, Ibra, and Robinho, they all played an important roles for Milan. Let's use Ibra as an example, he costs Milan 24 mil, discount price due to his wage.
Yet due to Ibra, Milan does not need to look for another striker this season, as Milan finanlly got two
really good CF, something that they did not have since Sheva left. Let's say he plays for 4 great years in Milan. His true cost would be the 24mil plus 9mil extra wage per season, since Hunter wage was about 11 mil a year plus tax and his is about 20mil plus tax. Thus Ibra would have cost 60mil over 4 yrs. Now the transfer fees for RO, Ronaldo, Hunter, Sheva and Borri cost more than that. Of course The sale of Hunter, Borri and RO got Milan some money too but Milan payed for their wages even if they were not playing. Point is, spending money wisely is more important than spending them cheap on panic buys. If someone if worth the money meaning he will raise the level of the team then he is worth every penny. It is better to spend say 30 mil on Hernanes than 10mil on Aqua, since Hernanes will probably improve the team while Aqua might not.

So what that means is that Kaka's salary per year is €20 Million. 50% of that goes to taxes ( €10 Million ). So AC Milan has to pay higher salary's to it's players because of the high taxes, in order to compete with other countries clubs. The current situation in the world (particularly Europe) is so awful that governments know nothing else but to print money and tax innocent people. Now football players are by no means innocent as they make fortunes, but it affects the clubs greatly. Berlusconi can now show the world that he's sacrificing his club to show the need for higher taxes. The whole thing is so perverse and disgusting, but my opinion, based off of my research is that AC Milan will not ever come back to it's spending ways as the political/economic situation is so bad, I can't see them bouncing back any time this Decade.

Expect signings like Acquilani and Montolivo, and low wages. Maybe 1 or 2 stars on the team but definitely not 4-5. The squad is very good to win Serie A, but Juventus and AS Roma are a lot better. Champions League impossible to get to even Quarterfinals with this squad but I will support them nonetheless. I guarantee no new big signings will occur
for years.....

I agree with you completely. Except for the Berlu sacrificing part, since he has the option to sell. This is where I don't understand, if this business is losing money and you can't afford it, why don't you sell it.
I think Milan will most likely dominate Serie A for the next couple of years, given that Real will not come in with 50mil to buy Silva next summer and PSG with their 60mil on Pato. Since we know for sure those money will end up balancing the book instead of reinvesting the squad.
As for CL, for the first time I think Milan will get knock out in group stage due to Milan being in Pot 2 , thus they must play a top team in the group stage while they might also need to face City in the same group. Mark my words, Milan will be in the same group of City along wi either Real or Barca.

As far as competition goes that's not a problem since the last few years England and Spain have the same tax rate. For sure England, Spain I am also almost sure.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Nalx - 08-22-2011

I agree with Gabriel here about Aquilani's being more of panic buy than of our real target, but on a less serious note, I often scratch my hair reading your post, mate. While I can pretty much guess Madrid's Contenao or El Shaaray, who the hell is Viduc? Wallbang Big Grin

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-22-2011

Viudez, or something, the player who really only played 1 second official match time with Milan.

Anyhow, Spian does have 50% but I think if you get a tax break of 20% for the first five years if you are a foreigner. The problem is not tax it has more to do with giving out proper contract and most importantly generating revenue.

You've said "Taiwo is a beast and Mexes adds depth", so the "cheap & free" strategy works, doesn't is? Big Grin If RO and Hunter are counted as cheap, Stam, MVB, Cassano, Boateng... are cheaper and contributed a lot to Milan. He has good and bad moves. I support him as a Rossoneri fellow and give him credit for the good ones.

Answer 1: Aqua is not a CM for 442, he needs some CMs, DMs like De Rossi, Pizzaro,... along with him, let him play the way he is best at. And Juve's 442 last season was a joke because it had almost no wings. Only Krasic was not enough when LM, RB, LB and even right SC were lacked. Two best 442s of last decade were MU92 and Moggi's Juve with Giggs, Beckham, G.Neville, Irwin, Nedved, Camoranesi, Zambrotta. Without these wing players, the pressure on CMs is high, and an unsuited Aqua couldn't do much.

Answer 2: As in Answer 1, Aqua is not suited for CM in 442 so Juve needn't spend money on him despite their love for Italian players. They already have a homegrown and unsuited CM in Marchisio.

Answer 3: Aqua is still much better than Merkel. The only negative is injury-prone problem.

About Pot 1 or Pot 2, I think it is not very important. In 2009 and 2010 we were Pot 1 and Real were Pot 2, right? There are always some underperformed top teams which are put in Pot 2.
This is a video about 15 minutes of Aqua in a preseason friendly match. He came in and assisted 2 goals with his corner kicks and had some good shoots. Longshoot & corner is a nice combination, isn't is?

The match ended 3-3

Yes, Aquilani was probably the best Liverpool-player in that match even though he played little. But to be fair they played a weakened Norwegian team Vålerenga. Vålerenga were missing a lot of their best players, they had even loaned 4 players from another club on the 3rd level of the Norwegian league system and also a couple of their substitutes (they changed the whole team during the match) had already played a match for their B-team earlier the same day... Smile

That said, I'm not against signing Aquilani.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Siregar - 08-22-2011

So, Aquilani is the champion Galliani talked about to replace Pirlo and also the other champion Berlusconi promised us? 2 players in 1 body? That is REALLY SMART. CHEAP and we need only to pay wage for 1 person. I adore how they treat Milan fans (until now, except they fulfill at least 1 of their promises).

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - abbeyleemania - 08-22-2011

i dont agree with you on Aquilani, Vidal and Aquilani are different players. Juve made a great investment on Pirlo, however its very hard to co-exist with Pirlo for Aquilani. if they didnt sign Pirlo, it was almost sure they would sign Aquilani. Liverpool asked for 16 m euros. They didnt want to pay this amount. Pirlo was free and They took him for free. Pirlo and Aquilani cant co-exist together in 4-2-4. Juve has Marchisio and they signed Vidal as well. Juve didnt sign Aquilani just because of these reasons.

Regarding free agent players, i bashed Galliani for Emerson, Oliveira or Huntelaar. Mattioni was a promising RB but he failed. Viduez and Cardaccio were Tabarez's presents to us. Legro was signed because of injured players. He was 6th or 7th CB.

Gattuso, Nesta, Van Bommel, Seedorf are all 1 years older. But we have reserves for them. We signed Mexes, we have Flamini, we probably will sign Aquilani. We are competetive, who is better, he will play.

Robinho, ibra, Boateng all arrived to Milan last season. They were newcomers, they will do a lot better this season. if Abate improves on crossing and last touches, if Pato can stay healthy all season and if he can step up, we are alot better than last season.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-22-2011

Cheap and free strategy works if you are already a great team like Barca or Real but not a team who is retooling to challenge the top. Stam is a great player no doubt but he did not help Milan win anything, Cafu on the other hand did but Emerson was a huge failure. Taiwo might be better than any of the LB in Milan but he is not a huge upgrade from last year. Mexes does add depth but do Milan really need another injured CB to add depth? He might be fine when he comes back but he might not. Either way it is a huge risk for Milan to pay him about 8 mil a year with taxes for 4 yrs. Instead of spending 8 mil on Zapata where his wage is about 4 mil with taxes a yr max. Cheap or free players are pretty much hit and miss, for every JDT there is a Javi Moreno, for a Cafu there is Contra, Boateng then Emerson, MVB to Flamini to some extent....Problem is that whenever you miss, you ended up being struck with them and must pay their wages even though they contributed close to nothing. Of course that could happen when you pay transfer for a player too, but that's where your scouts earn their wages.

Cheap and free is one thing while panic buy or bargain buy is another. Taiwo is a solid buy while I am mixed with
Mexes, esp since Zapata only gone for 8 mil or less. RO was a panic buy while Ibra was a bargain. Aqua is a panic buy No matter how you look at it and Milan is a club that should never be in a position to get panic buy due to their statue. Something just hits me, if Pato is not dating a Berlu, he is probably already sold to the highest bidder and in return Berli will sign either Adebayor or Mario from City, whoever is cheaper.

Thanks for the Aqua answers. Just more questions, if he is as good as you are making him to be and how he was
the MVP of that friendly match, why would Pool sells him to anyone, as they lack creativity themselves?
In short, Juve think Pirlo is a better option than Aqua while Milan think Aqua is a better option than Pirlo, mainly
based on last yr performance.

As for CL, I don't mind Milan being in pot 2, my point is that Mian will most likely be in a group of depth. Over the past two yrs Milan was did okay two seasons ago and just barely got through last yr( beating one team). Imagine Milan being in the same group as Real, and City?

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 08-22-2011

Aqua IMO noone rip my head off for this, is better then pirlo in his current state.. Pirlo doesn't really fit into football anymore hes so slow to react and run as well and those long air balls dont much work anymore, go look at our game yesterday he was spreading the ball well but nothing came of any of it.. bottom line is aqua can run and at least bring the ball forward
