RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ACM1899 - 08-20-2011 Can I ask a srs question to everyone. If we did sign Pastore/Hamsik/Ganso/Schwein etc any of these 2 players what would be the REAL chances of winning the CL in the next 2 years? I dont think we can do anything until the Seedorfs, Gattusos, Ambro, Oddo, Bonera, Antonini, And Pippo are sold or retire and we add speedy young/er replacements to match these dream signings . Im willing to wait another 5 years for a CL title as long as it means we're competitive year in and year out after that to reach the final becuase of our younger and faster squad. I want more scudettos for the time being. I think that is the most important goal for the next few years. I want the second star first before inher. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Jay Crisp - 08-20-2011 With any 2 of the mentioned players there was a chance we could win it this year and next with the team clicking and a bit of lady luck. Seedorf Rino Zambro Ambro V.Bommell Pippo Oddo Yepes are out of contract next year , the sad thing is I see most beeing renewed again. It's they way our MGT do business unless the player wants to retire or has a career threatening injury and can't continue , they'll be renewed a further year.We have been waiting for the old players to leave and new blood to come in for 8 mercatos (summer and winter) it has not happened.I see no reason why the policy will change next summer. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Arildonardo - 08-20-2011 Roma closing in on Fernando of Porto. We were linked with him before. First Lamela and now maybe Fernando, seems Roma are watching our links closely. http://www.football-italia.net/aug20x.html RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 08-20-2011 (08-20-2011, 07:20 PM)ACM1899 Wrote: Can I ask a srs question to everyone. Hamsik & Schweinsteiger fit our formation/system best and if we were to have bought those two players, our team IMO would be instantly a challenge for Champions League. Barca, RM, ManU, Chelsea still very very strong but I put us right with them if we bought those players. Games are won in Midfield, and with our current midfield, I don't think it's good enough. Yes the new Roma Owner from the United States is really trying to back up his promises, and he's going to make Roma strong. Good for Serie A so I'm happy. Too bad Schweinsteiger has already played in this years Champions League qualification, which makes him ineligible to play for Milan in this seasons CL. Other than that I must agree that those two players would make us really competitive. OCMilano's question was hypothetical. Obviously those ships sailed long ago. He's asking if we had bought 2 of any of those mentioned. Obviously we're buying no one and also some players are now cup-tied. Barcelona is still best in the World and I don't see that changing. However, those 2 signings would have improved our team exponentially. They would send us in the right direction for the next 5 years. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Siregar - 08-20-2011 Btw when did the news about Ibra chased by Milan appear last year? I only know it was end of August but forget in which week of August the news appeared. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 08-20-2011 The bottom line is that Italy is a place of distgustingly high taxes, poor infrastructure, terrible organizational planning, and the fact that Milan, despite being owned by Silvio Berlusconi, Prime Minister of Italy, don't have the means or want to REALLY re-inforce this squad. Also, Milan do not own their own stadium, and therefore have less revenue than many other European Clubs. Then, you also get 'mind games' and 'lies' from Galliani that we can't spend because of FFP even knowing that it doesn't start until NEXT summer. Reminds me of last year when Galliani always talked about how we used up our Non-Eu spot. No fan could pin-point who it was and of course the stupid Media never asked him, nor did he ever fully come out and make it known who that was. All of the games and deception by Galliani, the FIGC and Berlusconi has been quite frustrating as a fan. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - reza - 08-20-2011 I am on record, going back since the beginning of posting on forums, as being one of the minority of Milan fans who prefers Scudetto to CL. Buying should be based on needs and a plan that is more than the next season or two. If Milan wants to continue to be a big team, minimum every year (two mercato windows) is at least 25mil+, if there isn't even this much money available in every calendar year then there is no point in having a 'rich' owner. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 08-20-2011 (08-20-2011, 08:10 PM)reza Wrote: I am on record, going back since the beginning of posting on forums, as being one of the minority of Milan fans who prefers Scudetto to CL. I agree with you Reza. What I can add to that is that CL brings in more €€€ for a club so that's why (I think) clubs have put that in higher priority in recent years. Also, you certainly need a deeper squad if you're to compete on 2 fronts (Domestic & CL). Lastly, I agree that Berlusconi cannot be considered a "rich" owner as he simply does not spend (in recent years). All the talk of gifts is nonsense as Abramovic and Barcelona's committee buy tons of gifts every year. That 25 Million+ you mention per mercato also depends on who we decide to sell as it's obvious that you can also make money by buying players young and selling them when they're older (Kaka, Sheva). |
