Galliani has just flown to Portugal to meet with Porto to discuss signing both Brahimi and Jackson Martinez.(milannews)

Also, Berlusconi was asked if 150mln euros will be available for the mercato, and he said that whatever amount of money is necessary to bring us back to the top is available. I'm almost sure we'll spend this mercato, but we need to be smart with the money we spend.

Brahimi is 100% YES, very talented player. Martinez is a good striker too, I'd personally love to see both of them at Milan.

Indeed Cafu came to Milan at an even older age, but everybody knows of Cafu's high level of professionalism. What about Alves? (This is a real question, not a rhetorical one.)

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - reza - 06-08-2015

The FB or winger positions are not a priority, in that sense alone Alves shouldn't be an immediate target.
Brahimi types yes.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - nefremo - 06-08-2015

To be honest...there is nothing to suggest that Alves in not professional. I don't know details about his personal life, but I don't remember him making news for something stupid, for priblems in the locker room, drinking and not taking. Are of his body, etc, etc (Someone please let me know if there's been some news of this and I've missed them. I honestly don't remember anything like that). He was basically the fittest player on the field in the CL final just two days ago. And I get that same impression every time I see Barca play. The guys just doesn't stop running. You don't get to be in that kind of physical condition at 32 if you are not professional and strict with yourself.

He does have that "bad boy image" look...but to be fair that's his business. He doesn't do anything to destabilize the locker room, clearly is in great condition, works like a horse for the team, and is a brilliant football player.

Edit: Reza, not to say that you are completely wrong (because you are not, as there are more pressing needs in the squad like the midfield).......but what options do we exactly have for the RB position, ESPECIALLY I Abate doesn't renew. De Sciglio? If. We are talking about challenging for the Scudetto then I'm not sure if I have confidence in him. I am an advocate of young players, but at this point he hasn't shown anything in a LOOONG time to even suggest that he can start on a team challenging for the title. At this point, he's not even half the player that Alves is currently.

My point is, if a player like Alves is available for an affordable price (or free in this situation), then you have to go for it. (Of course, if it makes sense financially in terms of salary). Especially, like I said, if Abate is not renewed. If He renews, then the situation is different and I agree.

Thanks, nefremo. I also remember his "bad boy" image and reputation. Unlike Cafu who is always pleasant and courteous, I remember Alves made controversial comments regarding C. Ronaldo, Mourinho, and even most recently when he was publicly blasting Barcelona before the most important CL final.

Personally I don't mind him joining, but as Reza pointed out, I don't think RB is our priority. And I just recently read that he is asking 6M salary. Hmmm..

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - slifersd - 06-08-2015

Alves wouldn't be a bad signing at all, especially if we are also getting Ibra. The goal of the team is basically to qualify for CL ASAP, and we need star players who are still in form like Ibra and Alves to do that.

Only problem I really see is, Ibra loves to play with Abate. Both Abate and Alves are strictly RB as well, with no position versatility. So, if we sign Alves, does Abate leave us then? It would be a waste of resources to have three RBs on the roster.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - Milanista87 - 06-08-2015

We have to sign world class players to fight for top 3. Otherwise, we don't have much chance if we sign the likes of Romagnoli, Obiang, Baselli, Eder, keeping De Jong and Pazzini.

i hope we spend that money smart and we can build a side which can fight for scudetto. i read somewhere 100 m euros of 150 m euros will go to balance the books and 50 m euros for mercato. You can't build a team which can even fight for top 3 with that 50 m euros. Milan needs more investment.
