There is no league that's in good shape, only thing sustaining others is more revenue but that's not always guaranteed. In the short term Serie A will suffer but the problem is collective not just Italy.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Best-Pundit - 08-11-2011

Can some one please give me one good reason to be happy for Italian football?????? I mean come on, I am feeling depressed now ..... seriously Dodgy I have have been hearing all these utterly nonsense speeches on Italian football being in crises for God knows how long now. Italy won the World Cup, 3 UCL trophies (how many Spain have won? 4 & EPL 2?), 2 World Club championships, 4 Ballon Dor winners, which should have been 5 (Sniejder, 2010). Italy just missed out on penalties in 2008 Euro Championships & if it wasn't for that coward Luca Toni's multiple pathetic let downs, Italy would have beaten Spain in 90 minutes & who knows might have ended as Champs. As for the recent failure in UCL, well one can argue Italian teams bad approaches + tactics, but at the same time look at the unbelievably high number of bad luck incidents with the Italian teams:
- 2005 UCL final
- Ibrahimovic missing an open goal vs Liverpool (2005). 9/10, he scores those
- Unfair red cards in each leg for Inter against Liverpool
- Juve losing to Chelsea 3-2 agg despite playing fantastically well (Nedved injury)
- ACM missing key players vs Tottenham, ManU & Arsenal (Seedorf in UCL)
- Roma losing to Arsenal on penalties. How did Roma lose that tie???????????

My point is if this is called crises, then I am confused how do you define success. As for Italian clubs not playing like current Barcelona team, well wake up man ............... Messi, Villa, Xavi, Iniesta, Alvez, Puyol are players that come once in decades & they all are playing in one team at the same time. That won't happen again any time soon. Just remove Barcelona & then compare things, it won't feel that bad ..... Devilcool

Maybe when it comes to winning CL, Serie A teams are not too shabby compare to EPL and Liga teams, but look at the quality of players. Most of the best players in the world are found in EPL and Liga. It is only a matter of times before guys like Pato, Hamsik, Hernanes and others leave Serie A for EPL and Liga. Like I said earlier, if a club comes to Milan and say, 60mil for Silva, Milan will not say no.

Liga tams might be in debt, but since they all own their stadiums/land, it is easier for their govt to bail them out while teams in Serie A can't say the same. On top of that, Serie A probably got the worst World wide appeal out of the top four leagues.

Take my cable plan for example, EPL costs more than twice compare to Serie A while Liga is just about double e price of Serie A and Buda is abit more expensive. This is mainly due to their scheduling and appeal.

Also, don't forget about Italy losing its place in the UEFA coefficient rankings to Germany. These things not happen without a cause. So while the crisis is not the same crisis as it is in Hungarian football for example, Calcio is most certainly not as relevant as in the 90's, and its downhill needs to be stop.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 08-11-2011

If fkn barca can go 273m in debt, why dont we and see if we dont massacre them

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 08-11-2011

Like I said, Barca owns their own stadium/ land, while Milan does not. It is easier for temas who owns their stadiums to get loans or just left their Govt buy lands off them to help them with debts. What can Milan sell, if they ever get into those debts, jerseys?

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 08-11-2011

I see that's true.. So now that Juve made their own stadium they'll be able to spend more no?
