RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ZvonimirBoban - 08-11-2011 That's an insult for Italy to say that Spain fielded a B-team. Torres, Iniesta, Silva, Casillas, Pique, Alonso, Villa (played 45 mins), Iraola (with Ramos injured) were hardly B-team for me... and Italy dominated that match completely. Both Montolivo and Aquilani scored

This match doesn't change our view on Aquilani and Montolivo, but both have the passion to play, and that's a good thing, given that we could get one of them. There is an article on Fabregas beign close to Barcelona, on goal.com. They say the source is BBC. What made me think, that they don't even mention Milan as an interested club. It looks like we aren't even in the race at this moment. I think maybe they used Milan's interest to keep Fabregas' price as high as possible, and his inclusion in the Arsenal CL squad could be a message to Barcelona, that they have to hurry up. In 5 days we should know a lot more... RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - theaxeofpain - 08-11-2011 Saw only the first half of Italy - Spain yesterday. Apart from the goal, Montolivo had a good game and looked tidy in possession. Made some good passes, and to be honest i was impressed by his game. Every time I've seen him, he has been mostly just average, but maybe he needs a quality team to live up to his game, He isn't the player that will win us trophies mind, but if it's the case actually I don't mind us signing him anymore. At least a good alternative to Seedorf in the upcoming season, providing some rotation in the Serie A and using mostly Clarence in the Champions League. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Jay Crisp - 08-11-2011 Aqua or Monty (preferably Monty) would avoid the catastrophe of having Rino Ambro/Seedorf V.Bommel midfield which is suicide. So if if one of the lads and a quality signing came we'd be looking a lit better. I also truly believe that Prince belongs in that RM spot his battling quality and energy and speed are best suited there IMO.A front 3 of Binho Pato Ibra is better. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - theaxeofpain - 08-11-2011 That would leave a midfield of Van Bommel, Prince and the LCM, without a real destroyer, which would be suicide IMO. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - millinarios - 08-11-2011 It's good to hear Montolivo and Aquilani performed well for Italy. For those who saw the match, how was Cassano? RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Aficio - 08-11-2011 (08-11-2011, 08:29 AM)millinarios Wrote: There is an article on Fabregas beign close to Barcelona, on goal.com. They say the source is BBC. What made me think, that they don't even mention Milan as an interested club. It looks like we aren't even in the race at this moment. Or maybe Barca don't really need Fab at all. The person in charge is Sandro Rosell. This man has been focusing on tightening the budget since he was elected as president. He release all the surplus players, include Chygrynskiy, Ibra and Y.Toure. The first two names give the message that Laporta & Pep were wrong, while the last name means the expensive subs must be sold, the youngsters will be the replacement (with Fab, this process is turned upside down). And in the end, he succeeded. Pep and the La Masia players love and want him, but they can't deny the fact that they don't need him. Xavi and Iniesta have said many time that they can play together with Fab, but how? They can mail, chat or telephone him if they miss him. ![]() Does Fab need Barca? I think what he needs the most is a club trophy won by himself. He is too mature to be homesick, and in Barcelona he will not be the main actor. He is also intelligent enough to know that Barca will not spend big to get him. Do Arsenal need him? Yes. But I think what they need the most is a trophy. The league is impossible now with MU, Chel and MC. They are now as strong as Tott and Pool. Their main goal should be the 4th and FA/League cup. They need a class player like Fab, but they know they can't do anything with an unhappy ace. Sell him for a great sum fast and use the time to find the replacement(s) is better option. Do Milan need him? All of us have the answer. The deciding factor is if Silvio Berlusconi know that Milan need him extremely badly, if he know that Milan's performance in Champion League now represents the pride of Italy as Inter are getting weaker and Napoli & Udinese can't be counted on. Those are just my hypotheses. Luckily I have only 5 days to see whether or not they are right. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Jay Crisp - 08-11-2011 If we hold possession well enough and score we don't need a destroyer .Not that we will play like Barca but Xavi Iniesta Busquets no real destroyer there , could argue for Busquets but he isn't like an Ambro or Rino or Flamini. With a good defense midfield 3 that track back and fight and can hold possession and create we wouldn't need a destroyer. Maybe that's just naive by me but I like midfielders that pass well and great vision. Was never a fan of the ultra defensive midfielder. My starting midfield would be something like Boateng - van Bommel - Fabregas/Montolivo, with a trequartista in front of them. Boateng and van Bommel should provide enough defensive cover for us in midfield for most matches. In my opinion, Ambrosini and Gattuso should not be considered for the starting line up any more. Gattuso can be Boateng's alternative, Ambro/Flamini can step in for van Bommel, and Seedorf can rotate the LCM role with our new signing. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ACMILAN1983 - 08-11-2011 (08-10-2011, 09:44 PM)ElMago99 Wrote: Mino Raiola said he was working on a "Mega-Deal" for AC Milan since April. Galliani and Allegri said any major signing will be announced at the end of the mercato, so probably best not to stress until then
