RE: Summer mercato 2021 - nefremo - 09-05-2021

I love how negotiations for contract renewals go on for months and months. Insane!
It should be very simple....€x amount is what the club offers, €y amount is what players asks for. See if gap can be bridged by offering more base salary or bonuses. See if player is open to escalatory clause in the contract, etc. In any case, it's a process that should take no more then a week or two. The club accounts are clear to management. The parameters and limits are well known to them (although not to players/agents). So there is no reason why a club should drag this for so long OR let it go on for so long from the player's side. My point is, if we have reached the (high) limit as a club, and the player has reached the (low) limit on his end AND we are nowhere near close.....negotiations should be over. No point in waiting for someone to change their mind because clearly they nobody is. You give a week to someone to make a decision. Give two weeks, i get it. But NOT months. Otherwise it just gives leverage to the player/agent and that really irritates me these days.

I get if we are trying to sign/buy a player. I understand how that can drag out for weeks, months even. But a contract renewal? Give me a break...

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - Zio Fester - 09-05-2021

According to La Repubblica, as cited by LaLazioSiamoNoi, Lazio have already secured the arrival of Romagnoli on a free transfer next summer. The Rossoneri captain is currently on the sidelines and won’t renew his contract with the club.

Likely to be 4 players lost for free...

I agree.

I also would like to ask some of us that are quick to point out that management couldn't have initiated renewal of Kessie because he was bad the seasons before last. Now, what about Romagnoli? Was he also shit the last 2, 3 seasons? How come we didn't bother to renew him as well?

Yes he was shit. He was average at best and then lost his starting place last year to Kjaer/Tomori. He's on a 3.5M a year net and wants a big raise too. How many back up CBs get that kind of money in Italy?

At the end of the day, we don't know if we "didn't bother" to renew him. But obviously we didn't bother to renew him at his demands (last time I read about that, salary demand was quoted at like 5+M). Again...how many back up CBs get 3.5M, let alone 5+.

I understand this whole "sign them up on a renewal so then you don't lose them for free and then sell next summer". But there is one fundamental problem......you are NEVER guaranteed the sale. Who knows what will happen in a year. Injuries, bad form, etc...YET, you HAVE TO pay the salary. In Romagnoli's case that's be close to 10M a year committed for the next 4 years. AND he's not even a starter. Let me throw it in as a reminder....Milan barely breaks 200M in revenue per year.

You are never guaranteed a sale, but you are guaranteed a big fat zero when they walk for free. I am not sure why somehow that's considered better? Yes, it would suck to pay Roma, say 4m a year if he was bad or injured, but letting a guy worth 20m walk away for nothing is not exactly good financial management. IMO, the only players we should not do renewals for are the ones who are just garbage and shouldn't be on the team, like Samu and Krunic. Every other player, even someone like Roma should be considered renewal because even if we have to keep him, he would at least have a role to play on the team. Now, if we can't agreed on the terms of the renewal, then we need to sell them early to avoid this situations. The idea that somehow management did a great job negotiating for months and then lose the players for free is...just dumb to me.

Especially when you have crap/semicrap player on astronomical salary. Than we end up with them draining our money cause clubs where they belong by their performances can't afford them and clubs who can afford them wouldn't touch them even with a stick.

Wrong. Romagnoli was never shit. You can convince yourself that, but that's not true. He may be anything but shit he never was.

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - honsano - 09-05-2021

Romagnoli is def not shit. He is a good player. But too slow for the modern game that we play. I believe 3.5mil is about a good salary for him now, but after losing his spot and missing the euros, he is probably not wanting to renew anyway. Let’s not forget the past few years before Pioli were toxic. A lot of guys had to deal with that atmosphere and probably didn’t love it here. There is still a chance we can swap him for a Lazio player too like they are saying about ke$$ie and PSG.

Let’s just be happy we don’t lose him to Inter or Juve. Lazio never are consistent top four finishers and I don’t see them becoming that even now.

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - DrDejan - 09-06-2021

Gazetta reports that Milan has met Kessie’s demands two times, at 3M and at 4.5M. Both times he changed his mind after Milan positively responded to his request.

Even with that, Milan offered him 5M plus bonuses. Kessie asked for 6, than changed his mind again and asked for 7.

If this is really the case, Kessie is the worst personality that has ever wore this jersey. Compared to Kessie and his agent, Dollar and Fatso look like angels.

If I see Kessie again in AC Milan’s jersey, I’ll be more pi**ed off than looking at Samu parading his tattoos!

If this is the level of his aspirations, than we should wish him good luck with his endeavors.  Okmilan
