Interesting quotes from Galliani. He finally acknowledged all of the media and fans making fun of his mister x talk, and the lack of quality signings. Don't get me wrong, I like aqua and nocerino, but we are 1 good signing away from being on the next level (top 5 in Europe).

A midfielder that should have been mister x. Nonetheless, it's necessary for a club to change a bit every year and players contracts change, other players retire (in our case no one seems to). We will need more to do long term, but I think a player of hamsik's quality could give us the opportunity to go very far in CL and win multiple scudetti in the near future. As we are now it will be more difficult.

"Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has revealed that Manchester City, AC Milan and PSG have all expressed an interest in signing him."

It would be good signing. Usually I wouldn't think about him as our LB, but with this Free / Low cost signing policy he looks like good solution. Maybe to retire Zambrotta (2 years older) and play Abidal... He should do it for at least two seasons...

If he doesn't reach a deal for extending his contract with Barca, it would be because of excessive wage demands.
You do realize that besides high ... erm... ANY transfer fees, we can't afford high wages either? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

RE: Winter Mercato 11'/12' - k7r - 10-19-2011

javi garcia, oscar, lucas, casemiro, and now portugese u-20 fabio lopez (dubbed as "new rui costa"---------not again!!!!)....how do our pundits rate these midfield players on a scale of 10, to whom Milan are linked.

Free or not , we have to get away from 32-34 year olds getting 4-6 mil per season. If He came free on 2 mil then go for it.But i don't like the age and wage he wants at 32.

Another important CL game - another absolutely rubbish performance from Hamsik.

Why does everyone here want him again? Huh

I didn't watch the game but he was rated a 4.5-5 on all rating boards, and I heard he played bad. I really don't get it. He sometimes poops out on big games. He was excellent in some other games though.

Personally, I like him because he fits in nicely in our system. He is creative, makes runs in the box, more technical than Boateng, but also tactically aware, and can drop back. However, you're right, he under-performs a lot.

The problem is, who's better? and available. De Rossi is a CDM (to replace MvB), Schweingsteinger won't leave Bayern, and Ganso is injured more than Pato (if that's possible). Honda is a no-go, Nasri is already at City, & none of the other big clubs seem to be interested in selling their ACM. Kaka is getting older (albeit he's in good form now), but unless we completely switch to a 4-3-3 and play with 3 strikers, we WILL need another midfielder, hopefully creative one.

Why would 'City' want another LB. They have Kolarov & Clichy. I'm confused....

All good points that you have brought up.

To answer your question " who else is a possibility?" I would go for Giovinco. He shouldn't be too expensive and has shown many times that he can be world class.

p.s. as for Man$hitty it seems they are at the point where they spend just because they can.
