^^ agreed. Usually I go around the office or school shouting to the rooftops that Italy is going to win the tournament and surprise everyone etc etc. Think I'll just keep my mouth shut on this one

I have lost interest in Azzurri since 2010. Maybe soon enough I will lose my interest in Milan.

Tournament starts tomorrow, nobody talking about it. That in itself says a lot really. I think part of the problem is that even half of the third place teams are going to qualify for the knockout round. The tournament won't really get exciting until there's actually something on the line.
I want to try to make a case for Italy though (long shot but work with me here). I have them going through to the semi final in my bracket at work and I think that with solid defense (Juventus) and some luck up front and a good draw, it's certainly doable. If guys like Insigne catch fire as well then Italy could maybe live on the 1-0 result which isn't all that bad for tournament play.

Expanded Euro is one Platini's many wrong ideas and Infantino doing the same with the world cup is also wrong. A pity.

Anyway, it seems B&G have not only destroyed AC Milan, but also crushed the energy, fun and spirit of AC Milan fans worldwide. Where s everybody? This is Euro Championships. A great football tournment every 4 years. Don't be so cold

I always go for the Netherlands, because of Van Basten which is how I became a Milan fan too, but clearly they are not in so the natural choice after that is always Italy. I think they'll do ok. I think they can easily make it into the final 4 spots.
As for the tournament losing a little bit of value with the expansion, it's absolutely true. Every game at the Euros used to be a heavyweight. Now you have games with Albania, Wales, etc (no offense to these countries, I'd love for Macedonia to be in)...it definitely takes some of the charm away. BUT, it gives the opportunity to these smaller countries to be in the tournament and that's great I think. I just hope that we don't start seeing some embarrassing score lines - don't think we will in this tournament and the European game on the whole is a lot closer on quality.....compared to Copa Amerca and watching Heiti get beat 6-1 by Brazil.
Like Mystik said, the heavyweight games will come later on. Takes something away from the tournament, but it's ok IMO. The trade-off is good.

Well, Payet has been fenomenal! Absolutely incredible game from this guy. The goal was great, but that's not even it. He's been everywhere. Creating chances, winning the ball, taking players on. Unreal performance!
