Even if it's only a loan with no obligation to make the deal permanent, the little confidence that had been restored in the club's management has been shaken.
The sense of optimism and enthusiasm generated over the summer is dissipating, and it's now hard to escape the conclusion that all the club is achieving is the creation of a new problem for itself and the coach.

Meh, players words worth less than the paper the were printed on these days. Call me cynical, but those words remind of Eto'o "heartfelt" goodbye letters to Eeverton and Sampdoria fans.

I'll judge him on the pitch. Often when someone says they used to be immature but have now matured (Balo says child and adult), it usually doesn't bode well.
Now that he's back, I really do wish he'll succeed, but he's going to have to work his butt off to convince me he's changed. I'm just happy there doesn't seem to be any obligation to buy.

I like Balo. I was actually sad to see him leave the first time. I realize I'm in the minority though as he def put little effort in games so fans disliking him is reasonable. As others have pointed out though, he played on really crappy/poorly organized Milan teams who essentially played Zlatan ball with him (you get the ball and make a goal on your own). I don't think there are many players who would succeed in that situation. We have to be honest in that he wasn't the only player giving poor effort during those games (De Jong did as well in numerous games) either.
With that said, I wonder if he will be a starter after a couple of weeks to play alongside Bacca? Adriano is ok, but he doesn't bring that level of unpredictability and creativity that Balo does. Also, Balo is tried and tested in Serie A. He has shown that he can get results. Neither Bacca nor Adriano have proved that they aren't a product of their previous league environments yet.

He still put up some of the best numbers at every club he played for. Managed 20+ goals with man city in 50 odd appearances, most of which were like 10 minutes off the bench, same numbers with Inter too. With us it was slightly better, 30ish goals in under 50 apps. Even with Italy he's done well netting 15 goals in 30ish games.
He seems to get lazy and loses motivation, but even him trying at 50% of what he can do he's still putting up impressive stats, not to mention his assist numbers are equally impressive. I'm not disappointed at all with this move.
PS. for those of you wondering why there's no obligation to buy I'll tell you based on an article I read on Milannews. Apparently if we insert the obligation to buy in the contract then we'd be forced to pay his entire salary. However, the idea behind the deal is that if we do want to buy him Liverpool is open to sell to us. The fact of the matter is that Balotelli is a hard headed player, if he's not playing somewhere where he's happy any club knows they won't get the best of him. Highly doubt they'd take the gamble tbh. At this point I'm sure if he does well he'll stay permanently.

Honestly, if all he does is speeding I don't care. Nearly everyone in the world speeds, but he has to do it responsibly (not in suburban zone, which it wasn't). I know I made the mistake too, driving 90 on a road where no living soul would think only 50 is allowed.

It's less about the fact he was over the speeding limit (by a huge amount tbh), that's stuff I really don't care about, but the fact that he'd do something like that when he knows he's got to try and keep under the radar with both the press and club. It's been something like 2 weeks since he returned and he's already in the press for the wrong reasons. The guy needs to avoid these stories happening, it does no one a favour, especially him.

I agree with Dev. Balotelli still has a long way to go before he can be professional and reliable both on and off the pitch. This kind of publicity is easily undoing his (perceived) efforts so far.
@Mathias: It is different that you or I make a similar mistake (not saying that we should
). We are not under the limelight all the time; also, we didn't dig a big hole already so one mistake (yes, anyone can make mistake) is certainly not the end of world. Thanks to the bad reputation he previously earned (rightfully), Balotelli now needs to be extra cautious with stuff like this, if he is sincere in wanting to get back his form and trust from the club/team/coach.
