Yes I agree here, btw is PSG Sakho any good ? who knows we can get him at a bargain Dodgy

Would be a huge downgrade compared to Thiago Silva. We should let that guy in Paris ... He's not better than Mexes nowadays (but he has more potential).

We should go for a guy like Hummels, or one of the defenders we are linked with (is Ogbonna really that good ? I never saw him play, or I don't remember him Huh).

So we can (MUST) expect something now on the transfer market. There should be many things possible now.
Also remember Ibrahimovic will be 31 this year, this is the last time we could've got money for him. (25m) and we sold Silva for 40m, wich is also good money;

Now the most important thing of all this is not that we lost 2 players but who we will buy in return. I'm expecting at least 4 starters!! We could come up stronger as a team, as in attack our team was way too one dimensional witch Ibrahimovic. This will also be good for Pato!

Rumours also say Mesbah will probably gone to Torino, maybe in a deal with Ogbonna? as we refused the Marseille offer for him.
And Taye Taiwo got an agreement with Benfica, dunno what they wanna pay for him.
And according to reports from Brazil Santos is interested in Robinho again, if we could also sell him we have even more money to spend, he's also nearing 30 and isnt one of our most important players, we got Cassano and El Shaarawy so.

as for transfers:
Ogbonna & Astori or Dede (wich seems difficult now as he just renewed his contract and his buy out clause gone up)
Sahin or Verratti
Lucas or Jovetic
Dzeko or Destro

I'm just trowing in some interesting names. Key is to spend it one players who are yet to reach their prime, players age 20-25. Not older players with big wages and who's market value will go down soon.

Mate, I really hate to bust your hopes but..... Sagrin

1.) With Ibra AND Thiago gone, Cassano, Boateng and Robinho have all expressed their wish to leave as well in one interview or another.

2.) The players which you have mentioned will all cost a hand and a leg. If Dede is minimum 28 Mln, whats to say that Sahin won't be 35Mln or Dzeko won't be 38 Mln? These are proven talents at big sides, whose employers can afford not to sell them if they don't wish to. Also, just the fact that the other clubs know we now have money, they will no more likely charge us an arm and a leg for each respective player in transfer fees. WE will have have to pay up in Cash, no loans will be possible now. Do you expect Galliani will want to spend the money which he just negotiated? Do you expect Berlusconi to ALLOW Galliani to spend that money?

3.) Convincing the club is one thing, convincing the players is an entirely different matter. If we told Ogbonna "Hey, you are going to be learning from the greatest Centre back in Thiago Silva." Yeah, we might have convinced him to come. Now? It's: "Hey, you get to come in and play savior in front of defence because Mexes, Yepes and Bonheadra are all crap and we aren't entirely sure what Acerbi can do"
or "Hey, we might not be capable of winning anything in the next 10 years, but you can entirely make a difference for us and we will limit your Salary to 2Mln a year." Do you really think the players will come to a side with no ambition, no talent, and no chance in hell of winning anything for the next five (minimum) years? I couldn't even convince myself to go play there right now.

Face it, the team are in steep decline and management have no backup plan. The only thing we can do is hope Berlu comes to his senses for just half a minute to sell the club to the highest bidder. His very name has dragged the Milan club through the mud, and we aren't going to be washing off our reputation anytime soon either.

Hell, watching Jeremy Lin with the New York Knicks is even more fun than watching this farce of a club's managment burn a hole through its own reputation and honour.

Thanks for the info, I could only think of Astori at this moment as the most likely, logical, economical replacement. Undecided

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - WCmilan - 07-13-2012

I understand that I maybe to optimistic but I think some of you are being way to negative. Thiago would've been gone in the next couple years regardless, why not work on a replacement now? Rolando from Porto is a heated link this guy is sick , no thiago silva but solid yes very. Negotiations for tevez will reopen this week according to milannews, taiwo to benfica with a cash sum for witsel is also apparent.. Thiago is irreplaceable, ibra is not, so we lose out height advantage but what about the fact that our whole attack revolves around him? That we're so one dimensional? That he slows down play a heck of a lot plus at 31 a big liability don't get me wrong ibra is great but tevez, I think he'll add something we've been missing, remember barca is a team of midgets so I'm not worried about the height thing well just have to take our long ball technique out of the equation. I think this will be a good Mercato if we play our cards right you'd gotta be insane to think berlusconi won't invest at least on a nEw defender and forward

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - Mathias - 07-13-2012

Guys I think you all are overrating Thiago Silva a bit. I hear words as solid...
But wasn't he responsible for some very idiotic goals this season in the cl and the league?
I'd call both of them replaceable. Seriously, I would. Get a cheaper, young talent and watch what happens with players who leave Milano:
They go in steep decline.

Don't get me wrong, but silva is not a new nesta... And I don't see ANY defender who plays football right now who has the right to be called that way.

Mate, whether we will invest anything at all remains to be seen.

I am listing the very real possibilities of how difficult it will be to get suitable, quality replacements for the players we have lost, and will soon be losing.

Yes Thiago would have been gone in a couple of years, but we could have at least:
1.) Made the most of him by using him for another year, since we had just signed a renewal deal for him, and he's only going to get better next year (he's not even in his prime yet), and sold him off for more money.

2.) Made adequate steps to sign an actual replacement FIRST, before we sold him off, so that we could groom the replacement. We were blessed with Maldini teaching Nesta, Nesta teaching Thiago.... and now the cycle has stopped. Whoever comes in has to be quality, because we have no one around to teach him the ins and outs during matches and in training.

As I mentioned before. Signing another player now would be difficult in itself. We are expecting starter material, but starter material is going to cost a lot. Talent won't do for us because we have no one left to nurture and groom that talent.

As for Ibra, truth be told, he's one dimensional, yes, but he got the job done. He had the backup of Binho, Cassano and Boateng when he needed to pass instead of shooting. I wouldn't be surprised if none of those three will be with us at the beginning of the season.

IF, and thats a BIG IF, Tevez does come in, he's going to be expected to do the work of all four of those previously mentioned players. Do you think he'll be able to?
Team Chemistry isn't built in a day you know, how do you know he would settle in Italy? What if he does a Forlan and can't score for shite here?
There are too many unknown factors here to deal with. Even with the most talented of players, there is no certainty of instant or longterm success.

The difference between us and Barca is that their players actually want to stay and play for the shirt. When one great player leaves, the rest of the squad don't mutiny and immediatly request for a transfer out of there. When they let go of Dinho, Guily, and Deco, did Xavi, Iniesta or Messi hand in a transfer request? See the difference?

But Barcelona has its own system, building their team from youth to the senior one ... The guys always played together for this club, and that's why they stay and don't care if someone leaves.

Anyway, I'd put a bemol on that : you see nobody complaining when a star player leaves, but look at these players who left ... None of them was from Barcelona, they all came in their prime in Barcelona and left then.

Barcelona builds its team this way : the core of the team comes from their youth teams, and they add some WC players here and there. Dinho, Henry (wasn't a WC player anymore), Eto'o, Ibrahimovic, they were WC players who left Barcelona after some years there.

Back at the end of the 90s, from 1999 to 2005, Barcelona wasn't a threat for any big team in Europe (and nobody never said Barcelona wasn't a big club at that time), they won nothing for years ... It's at that time they started to build their team this way. They worked on their youth, they built their identity and it resulted in the Barcelona of nowadays.

Nobody in Barcelona will complain if Villa, Dani Alves or Sanchez leave, because they're not from Barcelona youth ranks. I wonder what would happen if Barcelona was to accept a big offer for a guy like Iniesta. I'm sure some would start to complain ...

All that to say that we should build our identity directly in our youth ranks, for some years (even if that means we win nothing or almost for 4-5 years), to build the core of our team. Then, we will have to add one or two players here and there to complete it and you'll see, again, players like Maldini (not his level, but the love for the shirt) in our team ...

As a consequence, this money should be invested wisely and not be splashed in new players who will leave, for sure, in 2-3 years (Tevez anyone ?) ...
Raiola : "Is it done with PSG ?! In Italy, you create things ... It's very far to be done. It's like saying we're close like America and China are. Today, I'll see Leonardo, but I don't have much will."

That means Raiola and Ibra want a better contract and will take any € they can from PSG !! That doesn't mean anything else, don't be optimistic ...

I too am all for that Geo, and I believe that we are already taking steps in that direction somewhat. But the mentality in Italy is too different from that in Spain. We had perfectly good talents like Merkel, Paloschi, Darmian all shipped out when they were on the fringes of our first team, and ended up losing them completely. They learn our system, they learn to love our shirt, and then we ship them off to the highest bidder for "instant" impact players. It's not working, and I don't see how its going to change either.

Management seem to be at two minds in following their own plans.
We aren't really investing much in youth players, and with this current fiasco of a transfer, we aren't looking at impact players anymore either.

I'm really confused as to what Fester and Berlu hope to achieve for the club, other than to "save 170 Million". If we actually had a sound plan, and a modus operandi to follow through, I wouldn't be so angry or negative. I can wait 5 or 7 years if thats what is necessary to make us into a self-sustaining success of a club again, but currently I don't see us going anywhere, nowhere at all, except down for the long term.

Our current business model of "Hope your cheap players have a breakout year, and sell them off to the highest bidder" is not going to work. I think everyone knows that much at least.

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - Gio-mania - 07-13-2012

As I said before, Ibra's demands might stop the deal from going through. He wants to make at least 12 mln over 4 years, while PSG reportedly offering only 9 mln. Of course though that might not stop the T.Silva part from going through, but it is also true we might only be willing to sell Silva if we can get rid of Ibra's super wages.

I'm already prepared for the worst, that is both of them leaving and us investing on Destro and Astori/Ogbonna as replacements at best. But I'll wait to see what is done with the money and understand what direction this club is going in. I might be wrong and overly pessimistic you know.
