Everything that Barbara has said and done has been spot on. It's now revealed that she even contacted Paolo. Woman or man, doesn't matter to me when she seems to be doing the right things. She is also leading this stadium thing too.
Fact of the matter is that she probably knows nothing about football.....but it seems that she knows a lot about business management and within that it seems like she's learned how football clubs operate within the business world as well. I personally am completely on board.
Also, I don't find your comment sexist Emago. I see it as an opinion and its ridiculous to get banned for that. People have just become too sensitive. It is completely normal to think that a woman that has never been involved in football in any way is not able to manage a football club, let alone one like Milan. However, it's also completely understandable (and now her intentions are clear to me) to think that a business'woman' can lead a business....which is exactly what Milan is.
I would be worried if she starts yaping about tactics, players, transfers, etc. But clearly he has not done that nor does it look like she is interested in something like that. She wants people like Maldini to do that.
Excellent post on Barbara. Something I've tried to say in the Maldini thread, but you've said it with so much more elegance.

exactly echoing my thoughts, though I think she knows enough about football, just she's not naive enough to think a fans knowledge of the game is appropriate for a real life club to act on. she seems progressive and has an eye on the future, I just wish she would hurry up and get more control because she's not only the best option for us, I think she has genuine potential to be one of the best football club directors in the world. few people with such business acumen have grown up with such a working knowledge of running a football club.

I think what Lady B brings are modern business ideas for Milan. She understands the simple math, such as free transfer/ high wages usually means paying more, or the importance of building a brand.
Can she do well in Milan, I would say yes, since she has more money than Galliani and is willing to spend those money.

Alan, I agree, Barbara must know something about football given who her father is and the fact she's been going to matches regularly for a long time now and has been going to matches in general for even longer (e.g. I'm pretty sure she was sat next to Silvio at Albertini's farewell). However, I think it's probably fair to say she's no expert in football, which I assume you meant.
btw, I don't know if anyone's been reading, but I've read numerous comments from Franco Ordine from Il Gionale, but he's made numerous comments on Maldini's recent interview (most of them being BS he's pulled out of his ass) and quite frankly I'm literally appalled by the man's stupidity. The most recent comment I read is the one that took the biscuit, as he says that Maldini talking is one thing but the job Galliani's done with the limited budget is good. We're spending second only to Juve in wages in Serie A (and previously spent the most) and have the highest revenue in Italian football. Seriously, spending that much on wages, having a squad of over 30 players year after year and constantly adding needless purchases to the squad, like Matri and Essien and we're doing well within our budget!? I don't understand how these people can be such dumbasses yet be supposed experts.
Unsurprisingly, Bronzetti also came out in defence of Galliani yesterday after Maldini's comments. Now there's a leech if I ever saw one, I can't stand this guy as much as I can't stand Raiola.

Dev, these so called experts have been around long enough and most likely have been friend switch Galliani for a long long time.
Think every body in the football business know Milan is being run into the grounds by Galliani, whether they come out and say that is a completely different story.

I agree. I doubt that they are stupid, but I wouldn't expect them to come out and speak just the truth. Of course, it would have been nicer if they just shut the fuck up, but they probably are "watching out for their buddy". Who knows how much benefit (on or under the counter) they have received from Galliani.

I don't think it has anything to do with money, I think it has more to do with insider info over the years....stuff like that.
Unlike the modern world where players pretty much tweet what is happening in their meeting with owners/GM/CEO, during that meeting. Back then, journalists did need to have good relations with players, coaches and managers to have the latest info. And through the years, I bet that more than a few of these people had gotten first hand info about Milan before everyone else due to Galliani, hence, thats how they got ahead in their job.... It is understandable that they will defend Galliani, since without Galliani they won't be in their position and quite frankly if Lady B or whoever took over, they might no longer have those insider news anymore.

I have no doubts you guys are right, but I don't understand how these so called respected journalists can spout such BS and not be called out on it. It also happens so regularly. There are a number of journalists I respect and I often mention them here, but ironically I don't think there's anyone from Italy I particularly respect at all, more often than not they're idiots. Di Marzio is one that's maybe respectable, but even he's one I'm not totally sure on.
Instead, it's often the ex-players, like Maldini or Boban who aren't afraid to speak their minds that have my respect.
