The only potential saving grace for this club is the youth set up. We have 5 players in the Italian u19 squad. But based solely on the first team, this ownership is about 4.5/10. They get points for the potential stadium and Milan Futuro.

I don't get it. You want this player. You've scouted this player. You've talked with his agent. You've known what the price is. You went ahead and agreed personal terms. And now what? You kneeewww the price is 25m. Last year of contract or not. It's 25m. If you are a bit off on valuation, 2-5...then I get it. Agree with the player and work on closing the difference. But this is NOT 2-5m. We are literally half way off the valuation. In what world is it a good idea to waste time on this and just wait for Monaco to change their mind? We did the same thing with Kia's commission and Zirkzee. Wasted a month, after scouting the player for many more months, and now are scrambling and moving on to random targets.
To be clear, I don't think it's unreasonable to value a player of Fofana's level at 12.5m when he only has a year of his contract left. He was virtually unknown until this year. So the valuation is fine with me. What bothers me is this continuing entrance into negotiations when you know you are SO far off. If I know I can't afford a $100k car, I'm not going into the dealership with 50k and hoping they just have a change if heart. Makes no sense.
Maybe the media is just wrong and is piecing things together. But if there is any truth in these reports...then the way this club does business is infuriating.

it's the same tactics they used since maldini days, they need to change this approach, this is loser mentality playing in the mercato by milan, if you want a player at that price, go get a player at that price, not negotiating 50% value of a player, no way a club would lower the demand that much for a player the know the value is twice what we offer. the only player we can get with that much discount is a fail player with potential, not someone that just have a high season.

I think I can help answer that question. In the analytical world that all American ownership and front offices live in these days, their algorithm assigns a value to all players, based on a number of factors such as age, contract length, skill set etc. And it absolutely kills them if they have to go above that valuation. The most analytics driven teams would literally rather not sign a player than overpay. I think that's the world we live in now too. If the algorithm says Mbappe is worth 10m, and he is available to us for 20m, we are gonna bypass on that opportunity anyway

Then why even make contact with them knowing your valuation of the player is half of what theirs is? It makes us look like fools. Soon teams won’t even take our calls.

In all of this we need to understand that not everything we read is real or true. A lot of these stories are just made up by the papers and I'm sure most are mere click-baits. Like today I read that we have turned our attention to Wan Bissaka and we will soon make an approach to Man U and bid for him.

I believe less in the reports that we asked Bayer Leverkusen about information on Frimpong. Unlike Wan-Bissaka he comes from a very good season, is wanted, has a contract until 2028 and is valued at least €50m. Why even bother asking?!?
But yes, most reports during the summer are probably click-bait and nothing else. We can know very little.
