I think Nesta, Seedorf, Gattuso, Inzaghi, Zambrotta and Van Bommel were each making about € 3 mln on average. On top of that we have Yepes, probably 1-2 mln, Roma about 1 mln. Also consider Oddo; I'm not sure if we paid his wage or not. Same goes for Aquilani. I'll ignore these two.
So with these players alone we are saving close to € 40 mln (accounting for tax; 20*2).
As for expenses we have T.Silva's raise to € 6 mln from I think 3, so with tax that is € 6 mln. Then we have newcomers Montolivo, Traoré, Acerbi, and Constant (who is paying the wage?). I have no idea what their wages are but I'd guess they're making maybe 2.5 mln on average, so with tax we spend about 20 mln (10*2).
So yes, grossly simplified, but we are saving something like € 10-15 mln a year in wages this year. Please correct me if I estimated the wages wrongly.

I also like our policy of paying our absolute stars very high: T. Silva and Ibra.
I do think Boateng should get a raise to 4 million euros if he performs very well this year. He was injured far too often this past season though.

A number of rumours now as Galliani gave an interview. First and foremost he said our market is closed after we kept Thiago Silva and Boateng's salary won't be increased as our players already earn a lot. He also said he's only recently spoken to Preziosi about Acerbi and Constant, nothing else. As for our Van Bommel replacement, apparently Montolivo and Ambrosini are to take this spot.
In pretty much direct contradiction to everything he's said, the press are still talking about our mercato. Firstly, Boateng does apparently want an improved contract, but it's not the club's priority right now (source: milannews).
Sky Sports 24 says that apparently, Marco Verratti's agent was in Milan to discuss the player with us.
Meanwhile, rumours (milannews mostly) suggest Mesbah might be on his way to Torino and we might discuss Ogbonna as part of the deal, though Torino's directors are saying that while the Mesbah discussions are happening, Ogbonna will stay in Torino. This also relates to our supposed search for a fullback. Apparently Balzaretti has said he'll either stay at Palermo or go to Paris where his wife is. Dossena will apparently only leave Napoli for 4m, while Peluso seems closer to others (mostly Juve) than us. All this was on milannews. As for our current left backs, Didac has apparently again said he wants to earn a spot in Milan after missing out on a place in the Olympics squad.
Finally, rumours are that while we talked with Genoa about Acerbi and Constant, we also spoke to them about Destro. The idea is apparently to get an agreement over the player with Genoa and then speak to Siena, although apparently Juve already have spoken with them about him. Milannews again the source for this.
I'm pleased to see us going for more Italians or Italy based players, as this vital towards so many aspects of the economy of calcio. I was thinking about precisely this yesterday and thought if I was in FIGC I'd be pushing for some new rules within football which fall in line with UEFA/FIFA regulations. Two things made me consider this. The first was obviously UEFA's rules about homegrown players in CL. The other was that in the past Italian football succeeded heavily because teams were only limited to 3 foreign players. While I believe in the EU laws about the freedom to work, Italian sides (best example is Inter) have been guilty of looking at cheap talents abroad rather than investing in the local youth.
Most notably, I would say Italian clubs should have a certain percentage of the squad made up of "homegrown" players, which would need defining, but would be something like players who were developed in the club when they were under 21 for at least a number of years (e.g. 3 years). This would encourage clubs to develop youth players and talents, helping to improve the quality of the national game.
Another rule I would suggest is a percentage of players in a squad must be made up of players who are and have been based in Italy for a significant period of time (this would again need defining more specifically). This percentage could be in addition to homegrown players, meaning you can have combinations of the two. What this would mean is Italian clubs looks at local talents before they look abroad for players. This would help players with potential being given a fair chance as they wouldn't be in so much competition with cheaper alternatives from Brazil. Just as important would be that this keeps money flowing within the Italian game.
These are just some vague examples of how I think the Italian game needs to progress, whilst being fair to foreign players coming into Italy while also giving spaces to the local Italians.

Forlan is linked with some clubs in South America and won't join Milan for sure (why would we take another striker right now ?).
Julio Cesar is linked with no club, except us, but it was denied ... And anyway, I'm not sure Julio Cesar would want to join us (and IMO, I don't think he will be accepted by Milan fans !!).

I am not for rules to protect local players, as I believe if they got talents they will proceed with their career. I think clubs should just concentrate on the development of players instead of just send them out on loan and let them develop themselves. I think the league itself should allow clubs to have a B team that compete in Serie C or even B.
