Would have loved to get Chiesa but then we'd likely have missed out on Tomori or making Tonali permanent plus had stuff all money to spend this window.
We, unfortunately, have to fix too many problems to be able to afford to spend so much on the one player.

If there's anyone to take from this Italy side it's the players that Juve unfortunately own. Bernardeschi showed some class and he might be available.

We missed out on Chiesa, I keep saying it. A while back I mentioned him and said for me personally he shows more talent than M'bappe. I got laughed at, but put Chiesa on that PSG side he will dominate that weak Ligue 1 make it look like Sunday league.

We got no money for Chiesa so that's it. We need to get players we can afford and get back up there.

You have right..I had some further thoughts seeing this excellent team without any „real stars“ guided by an excellent coach who considered 100% of the strength of every single player. I saw a European champion full of players and gems, where AC Milan‘s management did criminal mistakes:

1. Donnarumma -> although I admit that I hate his behaviour and his manager, I have to admit that he proved in this Euro that he is a WC goalkeeper and I believe that 10 mio €/year wage is a bargain after his performances.. I do not want to remember that he let him go for free…
2. Locatelli -> criminal mistake not supporting such a gem, but Biglia
3. Pessina –> I hope we can re-do it and go for him. This guy has great potential
4. Cristante -> very solid as DM

And of course not going for Jorginho, Barella and Chiesa, when we had the realistic chance to sign them..

I mean it is very easy to criticise afterwards and we all know Maldini is doing a solid job. The most mistakes were done by ridiculous coaches and management (Mirabelli, etc.) and we have to learn from these. We have to consider that great teams had ALWAYS a very good national(Italian) basement combined with very good or WC international players.

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - Kastriot - 07-12-2021

This is not Maldini, this is previous mgm for the last 10 years. This is what really hurts, because all these above mentioned players were obvious stars in the making. Barella, Veratti, Jorginho, Locatelli, Donnarumea, Chiesa, Insigne. If we go 15 years earlier, Bonucci and Chiellini were masterful even at a young age. Bastoni, Pessina, Cristante, Sensi not at that levels, and it was easy to misjudge them. But the other ones, OH MY GOD!

I was always on the side of mgm on Donnaruma case, but to be perfectly honest, this tournament just showed that El Gordo Mino, knew perfectly well what he had in his hands ( the best goalkeeper in the world atm) and he played it very well. I am ok not to give 10 mill. for a gk in this wage structure of ours, but I cannot say that he did not deserve it. There are at least 5 gk that earn more than him even with this wage.

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - sylrus - 07-12-2021

we just need to move on and find other players, on our lost youngster like loca or cristante or pessina, i think we need bring 1 of them back here, and from those 3 my choice is pessina or loca, i think loca can be played upfront as an AMC, i think he would be perfect in that role, he could be like lampard or gerrard imo.

I think I can live with that if it means getting Chiesa. No question!

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - ac.michael - 07-12-2021

Donnarumma has proven his quality this Euro & tbh he was worth every $ of what he was asking.

I would sell Tomori, Tonali & half our team to have Chiesa

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - reza - 07-12-2021

Donnarumma was Raiola more than it was 10 or 12 million. Goalkeeping position will be fine for Milan. RW, CAM etc not so sure. 60 million for Chiesa is history, at the time he was available at that price we could not and should not have paid that much, sad but reality.

This is what the hype of a tournament do with people. What's the point of having Chiesa if the other starters were Tatarusanu, Krunic, Castillejo, Hauge, Kalulu and Gabbia?

Of course I would have wanted to have Chiesa if it was possible, but not at the cost of the rest of the team we're building. It wouldn't help us at all.

RE: Summer mercato 2021 - slifersd - 07-12-2021

I have always rated Donna highly but let's not get too carried away with one tournament too. Donna is a good keeper, no doubt about it, but if he is making 12m at age 22, imagine what we would have to pay him at age 28, he'd probably make 20m a year. No keeper in the world is worth that, in all honesty, prime Neuer didn't even make anywhere near that.

I think Donna is only a fit for no more than a handful of teams in the world, financially speaking. Only the teams that basically have unlimited budget AND no FFP issues like PSG and the EPL teams can afford to pay a GK that kind of cash with the expectation that he is going to be asking for a raise pretty much every other year. But is Donna really a good fit for those teams stylistically speaking? To me, there is a big difference between GK of a strong team vs. a weak team. Weak teams want GK that can make spectacular saves because they are going to give up good shooting opportunities, whereas strong teams need GK that do not make mistakes and build up play, because they for the most part can control possession and won't give up many opportunities to shoot. Donna, for all of his shot saving abilities, is hardly a GK that is error free. In fact, he is quite shaky handling crosses and corners, for example. That is not a recipe for success for a PSG keeper. Yeah, he is going to make a big save or two from here and there but one mistake in a big match, and he is on shaky grounds already. Maybe he will prove me wrong, but I for one don't think his path at PSG is going to be as smooth as everyone thinks it will be.
