Napoli can't afford to have Flamini wages on their team as that will offset their whole team balances. I think Flamini will probably head back to EPL, as that's only place where the teams is willingly to pay his wages.

The question is if Arsenal will want Flamini back. If they do it's a pretty good deal since we also get rid of a player who we might not need. We already have several DMs and Flamini is the worst one of them, albeit the youngest.

Modric had a good season at Spurs but the fact is that he scored 4 goals and made just 3 assists in all competitions last season! Don't think Pirlo was ever that bad.

We don't have enough DM actually. Allegri plays with 3 DM and we will only have 3 super old DM for two spots if Flamini leaves, that will be very bad if the team aim to succeed in Europe. As good as the old DMs, they can't compete with fresh-blood European teams. Especially for the right DM where the player needs to go forward and come back the whole game.

what makes you think Arsenal would want Flamini back, or worse yet, why would Flamini want to return to a place he left because of the lack of trophies?

Modric is not as good as Pirlo, he never will be. He's a good player but guys, please, Pirlo was one of the best playmakers we have seen... Pirlo of last 2-3 years has been utter crap so yeah maybe maybe Modric was better than that one, but Pirlo in his prime is a total different player. I also don't think we should bring Modric not only because he is not good enough, but because we are trying to get rid of playing in a system that had a player like Pirlo... I don't think he'd fit into our system particularly because of his physical presence and size.

Very unlikely... even today Pederzoli said the idea of Strasser interests Novara alot. I do believe we will have Calvano added to the pre-season squad though.

About Sneider, it is only one success story where there many hyped players ended much worse. Even Sneider failed in big club like Real Madrid.
I doubt he is great playmaker, he is even not playmaker IMO. As someone said, he is not Pirlo's type (has great vision and creativity, can change the style/tempo of the game). He is a more central midfielder who can decide fast when and where to pass but he is not that good at playmaking the game. With him as left CM our play will be stuck if we play Boateng as CAM and Bommel+Gattso/Flamini as DMC and MRC.
I prefer a more creative one than Modric. If we get creative left CM, Modric will be great to play as right-central midfielder.
Luck played with him, IMO. There are players like Rui Costa and Batistuta who were signed at a declining age. Millito is another example. Luka is non-EU. Croatia now don't have many talents like in the era of Boban, Suker, Jarni, Tudor,... His club is not big and even played him at wrong position (deeplying). Let imagine Pirlo's partner is not Gattuso but Jermaine Jenas
Now he plays free LCM and succeeds there but he doesn't have many class attacking players to use. He is short and not handsome

I think PSG suit him the most. They have crazy money now and Flamini may like to play in his country.

Pirlo's main job is distributing the ball. He played far from opponents' goals so his shoots and passes couldn't reach there easily. Therefore, His goals & assists are not too many.
Season, Matches played (subbed in), Goals, Assists
0809, 26, 1, 2 (no CL)
0910, 44(2), 1, 4 (A and CL, the only goal was his long-range against Real)
1011, 19(6), 1, 3 (A and CL, another long-range)
Modric has only 3 goals, 3 assists this season. But if the two topscorers are Van der Vaart with 13 and Pavlyuchenko with 9, how could he be treated as bad.
Modric plays higher than Pirlo, but his main job is also passing the ball and he doesn't have many class teammates. Pirlo's stats were much better before 0809 when we had Kaka and Sheva, and our team were still young.

Modric does NOT have the vision Pirlo had. You cannot compare them now as Pirlo is washed up and his career is finished. That's the reason why we released him. Modric may be playing better NOW, but in their primes, there is no question as to who is better. Comparing them is silly.
We have not been linked with Modric. We have been linked with many other players and no one knows who we will buy at this moment. We know Allegri likes dynamic midfielders, strong, can defend, can run etc. Therefore, we may have an idea of who it could be, but we do not know who it will be.

it was just a sarcastic retort. I didn't expect you to take it personally. well, its difficult to compare them in their primes, because one is past it and the other is still to get there. Yes, they are far off now, but I still believe modric can do much much better with the right coaches and players around him.

At least, if you are trying to be witty, it would help to your some pertinent examples to make a point. Pirlo is not Baressi's age, he is 32, Scholes at 35 had one of his best seasons,even getting Premier League Player of the Month for August 2010, whereas Pirlo has been playing below par for the last 3 seasons. Some would argue its because of the decline in quality of the teammates around him. There is a 18 year gap between Baresi and Kaladze, one is still playing the other isn't. Whereas, with Modric and Pirlo, there is a 7 year gap, both are still in the game. Now, if you were not half the idiot you are and actually bothered to read my first post, you would clearly see that I did not state he was better than Pirlo, I said he has the potential to be and I also was referring to their current form.

im a bit unsure about this deal with el shaaraway and merkel.. they are both talented and can develop into good players, i dont understand why we would sell 50% of merkel rather then just do loan deals with option to buy or something idunno.. I was sort of lookng forward to seeing merkel as a reserve next year.. So now with el shaaraway will he be in our first team?

IMO one of the few CMs who can truly conduct a team.
He's quicker, more combative and better defensively than pirlo every was. Pirlo has more range of passing, possibly more vision. Modric plays more like xavi than pirlo though. Almost a xavi/iniesta hybrid.
I think I might prefer him to hernanes because he plays at a higher tempo than hernanes (and pirlo for that matter). Kind of a more modern take on the maestro CM position...
yes, he is a lot quicker than Pirlo and plays at a much higher tempo, he has to due to the nature of the English game. He lacks Pirlos ability to dictate a game and is not as deliberate as Pirlo. Pirlo is more deliberate but at the expense of tempo and quickness.
Like others have alluded, he is a quick passer and distributor mostly, whereas Pirlo is a primarily a metronome for the team.
Imagine Pirlo(in his prime) playing in the premier league in totenham, how much would he accomplish? he wouldn't get much time on the ball, his distribution would be too slow, his tempo too slow, the players around him would not be as intelligent and experienced to work with his playing style and thinking, he would probably end up on the bench in no time, he would have trouble communicating with the others etc.
