I really can't believe some of you think Italy does not hype their youngsters. When Bonera and Legro first appeared they were suppose to be the next Nesta and Canna. Cigani was supposed to be the next Pirlo. and the list goes on and on and on. Youngster are always going to be hype by their own media. The difference is how much info can we access. For example, we are watch Serie A pretty closely, thus we also get access to MULTI media outlets from Italy. On top of that, if someone like El Sharr is being hype as the next Messi. We all get a chance to watch him closely for more than a few games. Does we can judge if he is the real deal or not. Same thing goes for EPL, Liga and Budles. On top of that, we can watch him in CL, if his team is playing there. Something we really can't do if the player plays in Brazil or Argentina or Czech.
Lastly, players response differently to different systems and environments. We all say T. Silva is the best defender in the world....but 6 yrs ago, he was a huge flop and I doubt anyone in the world including himself believes that he will become the best defender one day.

I'm not worried about the hype as excited MILAN BOUGHT HIM. All those players you listed Galliani never bought (Bonera was bought after his hype died out and he was almost 25 for a low fee).

Galliani has been notoriously conservative with youngsters with high fees. El Shaarawy's fee is quoted at 7 mil + half of Merkel for his whole contract. By time we buy back Merkel we'll have ended up paying close to 15 mil which was El Shaarawy's quoted fee.

The fact we moved so quickly on it means our scouts were VERY high on him. Milan scouts are among the best in the world, I've always contested. My problem is Galliani rarely listens. Braida had asked Galliani to buy Pastore but he stalled and Palermo bought him for 8 mil. Braida wanted Hernanes but Galliani said we didn't have money. List goes on...

I feel bad for Braida. Galliani buys some of his recommendations and they all FAIL miserably. Then the few Galliani doesn't buy, turn out to be great (Ilicic, Hernanes, Pastore)

I notice that B&G don't like to take chances. They want proven players at low costs, and they rarely will take chances with players unproven..

They are already accustomed with heavy spending without limit.

I read from other forum that their president said, they had a bid 40 mil euros last year and was rejected by Arsenal. And with depreciation, they can only make bid lower than that previous number.

I smell chance of Milan. It is pretty unlikely but we never know seeing how Barca's transfer budget this season and Milan really look for a high quality for their midfield.

to be fair, those he buys which fail (grimi, vuidez, even gourcuff) cost almost nothing and are basically gambles. "they have talent" if it works out its good, if it doesn't no real loss..

Still, fact we didn't buy pastore for 8 mil when we sold kaka and gourcuff was frustrating. Almost as frustrating as missing on hernanes last year, except we used the nonEU spot on Robinho (so atleast we got a great player in one aspect... in pastore's we got sheva instead.. ugh)

barca doesn't even need to spend a lot to keep going!

really, a defender for the future is high priority, and maybe some forward depth though afellay and jeffren should continue developing

LOL

It is much better if we are celebrating when we win Champions League. Winning this trophy is making me so happy. Getting world class player always give happiness but not as much as winning CL though.

My favorite transfer list is still Ganso.

I am with you, man. Miami celebrated crazily when they got James and Bosh last summer but that was the only party so far. Big Grin

Unfortunately only a matter of time before Heat win a championship. Sad days ahead for NBA (my favorite sport)...

Fabregas wants Barcelona. I highly doubt he's talking about Milan haha. However, we should buy Ganso, then tell Fabregas to join OUR Barcelona Sagrin

Another gone by without any solid news.
