The rumours at this point are suggesting if Robinho goes, we'll push for a RW, while if Balo is sold, then we'll replace him. That should give us an opportunity to strengthen our attack. Of course, whether I trust the management to find a replacement is another matter, I just don't know what to expect from them these days, but I'm prepared to take the risk.

I'd also consider keeping what we have if we sell Balo. Balo for his individual moments of brilliance is a terrible team player and it impacts the rest of the side. While what we have isn't exceptional, let's not forget that in the months before Balo joined, the same group were doing pretty well without him and were well on the way to turning around what had been a disappointing season (the year we managed to get 3rd).

I'd agree with Balo's sale only if we get an adequate replacement. In the season you're referring to, we had to rely on a pre-injury El Shaarawy who was in the best form of his life, scoring pretty much all of our goals. Currently, we don't really know what El Shaarawy's form is going to be like post injury (he only made 2 substitute appearances post surgery). I think it would be a big risk and quite unfair to leave all of the scoring burden up to him in these conditions. At least Balo or the new striker would take some pressure and attention off El Sharaawy to allow him to get into form again.

I'm not sure he would shoulder the burden himself though. Pazzini at the time was suffered for a few months but did score reasonably that season (15 goals). We also now have others like Honda and Menez, which we didn't have back then and with the likely sale of Robinho, we should be getting at least one new attacker to help in the offensive department.

It's not ideal and I would expect a replacement to Balo, but if not then I'd still sell Balo because he's a problem and risk we really can't afford to keep in such a delicate time.

Mario Balotelli Unhappy With AC Milan Training - xudong - 07-30-2014

AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli is reportedly unhappy with new coach Filippo Inzaghi’s training methods.

The mercurial forward has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, though an official offer has yet to materialize.

Despite numerous controversies on and off the pitch, Balotelli has maintained decent form throughout last season, scoring 14 goals in 30 Serie A outings.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the striker was confused and unhappy with one of Inzaghi’s drills. While in training, the player asked for further clarifications on an exercise that focused on finishing. However, he was quoted saying “but how the heck can we score goals if we play like that,” due to the large amount of misplaced crosses during the training exercise.

Inzaghi’s reign as coach of the club has already began poorly, as 2-0 wins against lower league teams Renate and Monza were negated by a 3-0 loss to Olimpiacos and a 5-1 battering at the hands of Manchester City during the team’s preseason US tour.

Who did we have providing crosses? I can't remember when last we had proper service from the flanks..back in Cafu and Serginho's time? Oddo was disgraceful..Abate is poor..Constant Facepalm Zaccardo Facepalm Janku was okay..and DeS is okay so far but definitely needs practice

Just to clarify from what I've read Balotelli's comment was less about Inzaghi's training and more about the lack of quality from teammates. I agree with him too, we need to strive for quality and he won't do anything without proper service.

I've criticized Balotelli a lot lately, but he doesn't deserve criticism for this. The media are focusing on every little thing that he does and says now. Comments like this happen countless times in practices around the world. It is not a big deal. He was probably right too. If crosses are terrible, how is he supposed to score. It's something out of frustration that every forward out there would say and I'm sure every forward out there does say something like that when service is poor to them. No problem here. It also has nothing to do Pippo's training methods. It's funny how the media twists things around and creates a story where there isn't one.
