It is rumoured that Tassotti will start Rami as RB against Spezia on Wednesday. I hope that he is not too chubby to push up and back.

It's a strange situation, but if Rami isn't redeemed it won't be because he's not done enough to earn confirmation. I do hope we keep him, as he has the potential and moreso the personality to become a leader in the dressing.

I too hope that we manage to keep him. I rate him higher than Taarabt, importance wise, though I would like to see both stay. I will be very, I mean, VERY, disappointed if that didn't happen. I wouldn't mind giving Honda away if necessary.

Not sure if I value Rami more than Taarabt, because they both have been vital this second half of the season for different reasons. Rami has offered solidity and personality in defence, vital for the improved defensive performances. Taarabt's workrate (tracking back) and unpredictability going forward have been vital to making the team a bigger threat, but more importantly provided balance to the side.
Personally, I think both need signing (as long as they maintain the same positive attitude) for next season.

Interesting he says he's at the right age. We've been linked to Alex of late, but he's at the wrong age to offer Milan the consistency for a few years that we need while young defenders develop.
Rami is 27 and while not world class, I agree with Maldini we do need some players around this age to push us forward while the younger and more talented players mature. That's a reason that I think Honda should be kept too, while a guy like Kaka is someone we can sacrifice.

Kaka has praised Rami's attitude in the dressing room. Forget technical quality for a moment, but surely we should be looking to keep Rami for his human qualities. A guy who knows when some tension/seriousness is necessary (shown when training and in matches) and when to be more cheerful is an invaluable quality.
I think in Ancelotti's autobiography, Maldini wrote a foreword and described as Ancelotti always being very relaxed and knowing how to relate to players. Also, unfortunately I don't remember who, an ex-player said something similar about Berlusconi as well, in that prior to CL finals, rather than try to pump up the team, he'd make jokes and get players to relax. It seems Rami is kind of similar in this respect.

I am afraid that he is doing his best just to get him officially transferred here. His attitude and consistency were not regarded.

Adil Rami - ValenciaRami has in fact already had previous in terms of these kinds of incidents. He left Lille in very much similar circumstance. Following the club’s double-winning season in 2010, Rami became more vocal in his criticism of the club and his teammates. His attitude saw him quickly ostracized from the group and soon forced his exit from Lille.
Rami’s problem has always been his lack of humility. He often starts well wherever he goes, but things just as quickly go pear-shaped as his arrogance gets the best of him. Rami has a strong personality, which helps him on the pitch, but can also be grating and abrasive in a dressing room. This is what Galliani is bringing to Milanello, which is disconcertingly consistent with the previous type of players he has brought in.

Hmmm.. Somehow that reminds me of Mexes, who has had fallout with almost all his previous clubs just to force a free transfer.
His on-pitch quality is there though, so I guess it still beats those useless signing such as Essien and Traore.

Yeah, I'm aware of his past, but I can't deny he's shown maturity since joining. Obviously, my opinion is based on very little of what we see and hear of him. Obviously, the hope is those at the club see more and therefore are in a much better position to judge, but at this point I really don't have much to criticise him on. That said, outside of the issues at Valencia, I'm not aware of him being a particularly difficult character.
Both Taarabt and Rami have this problem and the biggest thing they have to prove is that what we're seeing isn't just a blip to get a contract, but will be the foundation for them to become better players at Milan.
