Therefore Digao's leaving has nothing to do with anything.

FIGC should change the rule, (2) Non EU's per year and then we can buy Ganso

Does anyone know why they implemented this rule in the first place? Is this an effort to promote local talents or something? Huh

After the disastrous Euro and World Cup showings, Serie A officials were quick to blame the results on an influx of foreigners taking the "God-given" spots of the local lads in the leagues, hence stunting the development of the Italian youth. Thus, the rule was implemented so that we'd all sign less foreign talent and concentrate on grooming our own batch of kids to do better for the NT. Not that I blame them, given that the NT really has been through its downs in the past half decade, but still.... It's a huge inconvenience to all those at club level, given the restrictions in place.

Italians always find someone to blame for their own NT's shortcomings, and their decisions to rectify are not always the best.

Kicking out An Jung Hwan from Perugia after the 02 WC was just plain stupid, and this 1 non-EU rule is just as dumb.

After the embarrassing exit to North Korea in 1966 World Cup, FIGC banned all foreign players. Those already playing in Serie A could be transferred within the league but no new purchase were allowed. The ban was maintained for about 15 years until early 1980s. Imagine that.

Something like Cassano wants to leave and we're chasing Pastore and Hamsik. Nothing new really.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Aficio - 06-12-2011

It is boring without real competitions. I'm waiting for Copa America. Many "wanted" players will be there Big Grin

Binho, Silva and Pato, please attract some teammates for Milan. Big Grin

You can always watch the UEFA Under 21 championship. Big Grin

There will be some interesting youngsters there. Hopefully some Milan scouts are watching it.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Aficio - 06-12-2011

I'm afraid we'll sign another Adiyah (Sorry if I misspelled Big Grin)

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - theaxeofpain - 06-12-2011

Actually there are some great players there, either proven or with bags of potential. Not some mysterious guys like Adiyah. Big Grin

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 06-12-2011

Actually, this should be one of the better U21 World Cup, as a lot of the players there are already National team players.
