RE: Summer mercato 2020 - Demonbanana - 09-17-2020

Sky: Freiburg offered 6m plus 2m in add-ons for Rade Krunic, Milan will accept the offer after the Europa league tie.

CorSera: Paqueta is on his way to Lyon for 24m plus add-ons.
If this true, good deal!  Next Calabria and Duarte please.

I wish we are still interested in Ajer and close with him, Chiesa, Myron Boadu (loan+ obligation). A decent LB to backup Theo would be great too.

I'm expecting Bakayoko to come once Krunic and/or Paqueta are sold.

..I'd prefer us to sign someone that hasn't hit the ceiling yet and could potentially displace a starter in the near future.

The thing here is though, Keita isn't really in competition with Samu. Different roles. He is in competition with Rebic

...and dumb or not, Ibra or not, Rebic was huge for us this past season.

Highlighted the 4 parts of your post that I disagree with.

- Decent would be a goal/assist every 250-400 minutes. A goal/assist every 146 minutes in his BAD form according to you is definitely better than decent.

 - Keita is 25, and hasn't found stability in any club after Lazio... on what basis do you assume he has already hit his ceiling? Our current starting front 3 are Rebic, Ibra, Castillejo/Diaz. He can definitely displace any of those 3.

- Yes, Keita in competition with Samu as well as Rebic. He plays across the whole front 3 positions.

- Rebic was huge for us ONLY after Ibra joined in January so only for half of the season. Before January he was an absolute joke. He was abysmal. Piatek and Bacca also had decent 6 month periods with us and we know how that  ended. I'm just not comfortable betting on Rebic for the long-term and has definitely not done enough for long enough to earn that trust.

Loan + Option for 15m is really a no-brainer if possible.

Well, Paqueta was a good young talent who excited many at the time we signed him. What happened afterwards so far makes him a huge flop both technical and economical, yes.

But it's not like we have a fantastic history of signing young South American raw and not established talents and make them good. Has it happened more than twice, with Kaká and Pato? Kaká even had 5-10 matches for Brazil when he arrived. And you could say that Pato never achieved nowhere near what was expected from him although he was very good for a few seasons.

Are you kidding? How many times have Rebic start for us before Ibra join us?

That was my exact original point a few pages back. I agree with you. Yes, Paqueta started well then I think in part he is homesick but mostly he doesn't fit in with GP then Piloi.

My post about this was every "scout" we have in South America should be fired.

Well  , don't worry now. Keita is supposedly about to go to Sampdoria.

RE: Summer mercato 2020 - Demonbanana - 09-17-2020

Lyon sold Bertrand Traore to Aston Villa for 21M+bonus. Paqueta money?

So far we are :

Biglia > Tonali
Jack > Diaz
Begovic > Tataranasu
Krunic > Bakayoko ?
Paqueta> Chiesa ?

By the way, does anyone have a opinion of De Paul? It seems he is ready to leave Udinese.

-ok. It's good. Not just decent. Fine. I guess i used a wrong word. My bad.

-on what basis has he hit his ceiling? On the basis that he hasn't bettered his Lazio performances which were years ago. He's stagnated and bounced from club to club. On what basis is he still growing according to you? Goals/min? The fact that he's 25? Yes, he's still got a long career ahead and anything can happen. But he has it all to prove. Monaco and Inter, despite the stats, were failures. This is the reason they are fine with moving him on.

-Keita plays across all 3 front positions? Sure....He could step in on the right if needed, but that's not his position. If he displaces anyone, it'll be to play as a LW/LF/SS. Not RW. Yes, he could step in there. But won't be his main use...or use at all.

-not sure what your point here is? So what? Everyone was shit prior to January. Do we replace everyone? Also...if Ibra had such big influence on Rebic's game (I agree that he did), then great. Ibra is still here and he can influence Rebic for one more year. If Rebic keeps playing the way he did since January, it's good for me.

I agree with something though....Loan + Option is a good deal. It's a "no-loss" and "low-risk" situation. As long as we are not dishing out 15mil for him up front. He's got a hell of a lot to prove. Lazio performances were a looonnng time ago. So loan + option, ok.

Report: Keita Balde to Sampdoria done deal

Official: Kumbulla to Roma

RE: Summer mercato 2020 - reza - 09-17-2020

Kumbulla didn't cost Roma much, they sent three players on loan to Verona as part of it but overall not much.
