RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gio-mania - 03-10-2011

I agree with ACM1983. No need for a revolution. Just an evolution.

I don't think we need anyone else in attack. Next year we will have four quality strikers available for Europe; Ibra, Robinho, Pato and Cassano. And then Super Pippo. Adding another big name wouldn't help much. As the situation is right now only three of them can play together, and it might be less if we reinforce the midfield. If Prince is permanently placed as trequartista or we get a new one, only 2 will be able to play at the same time. It is just a recipe for dressing room troubles. Maybe a youngster, some guy from our primavera. We had a kid called Oduamandi (sp?) with us this summer, so maybe he can join the squad.

Midfield is an area we need to invest. Ambro, Pirlo, Seedorf and Van Bommel's contracts are running out, and I suspect not all of them will be renewed. They are all past their prime, although Ambro and Van Bommel are still going quite strong. If we want to challenge in Europe, and Italy too considering Inter will surely reinforce this summer, we need fresh legs here. Depending on how many of those guys we keep, we could take 1 or 2 new midfielders. Ganso is all the hype, so I guess I "want" him, despite never having heard anything about him. It does feel like Inter are closer to him now, but anyways. The second player we get should be more defensive but still fully capable of playing on the ball and going forward. If we get Ganso we shouldn't get Kakà too. Superfluous, imho. Well I don't want Kakà back in any case, but that's a different story.

In defense we need a left back. Zambrotta and Jankulovski are too old. Antonini is in his prime, but I fear he isn't at the level we need to win challenge for the CL. And if we get a solid LB then Antonini could be moved to the right, act as a substitute for Abate. I guess Urby could be converted to LB, but I don't think we can hope for him to solve all our problems. We might also need a CB. Nesta is becoming slow. Is the Mexés deal official? Not sure I'm too psyched about it.

------------------------------- Abbiati
Abate -------- Nesta/Mexes ------ Thiago ------ ?? (Antonini, Urby)

Gattuso/Ambrosini -------- Ganso/Merkel ----------- Merkel/Flamini
-------------------------------Prince
---------------- Ibra --------------------- Pato/Cassano/Robi

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - GeoTav - 03-10-2011

I would be happy with that kind of roster next season:

GK: Abb, Amelia (or any other good GK, Sirigu ?), Roma

Def: Nesta, T.Silva, Abate, new starting LB, probably Mexes, Antonini, two between Yepes/Astori/Sokratis, Zambrotta
=> Give a chance to the youngsters if there is any new injury crisis, especially with our FB

Mid: Pirlo, Boateng, Merkel, Flamini, one between Ambro/Gattuso, Van Bommel (one year deal), Emmanuelson, Strasser, new AM
=> A new CM could also be useful, but if Boateng is used in midfield along with Merkel or Pirlo and one of our DM, behind the new AM, it could be solid enough

Attack: Ibra, Pato, Robinho, Cassano, one between Paloschi/Berretta/Verdi
=> Paloschi would probably refuse to come back to be the 5th striker and almost never play, so the best options are in our Primavera, Berretta (a finisher) or Verdi (another second striker who likes to play wide)

Bold: players already in Milan
Bold italic: players not in Milan but co-owned
normal: new players

As you can see, we don't need that much, and we have some co-owned players who could be useful and allow us to save some money and as a consequence, use it on less players (which means more quality).

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - shegs - 03-10-2011

I agree with you Geo; We need another option in attack, so I think Paloschi or someone similar to him (a poacher) would be our best bet. The guys in the Milan attack are too similar (3 SS and a 21- year old who doesn't know if he's a CF or an SS) and it's made our play a bit one-dimensional at times. In games where chances are few and far between, the team needs someone that will almost certainly score those precious chances.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 03-11-2011

Agreed^ what we need is a poacher, huntelaar would've been good to have this season if we knew this would of happened to inzaghi. Our CL run may have been cut short prior to the fact that we could not use Van Bommel nor Cassano, even emmanuelson would've been useful against totenham because of his pace / hence why seria a running were doing alot better then we did in champs league. If we get paloschi back im stil expectign a cb and fullback and midfielder to come in. also i dont care what anoyone has to say on this matter but id love for kaka to come back.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Hitman - 03-11-2011

Geo, Strasser and Beretta are both co-owned with Genoa. To be honest, Beretta looks very good at his current age, he looks alot better than Zigoni, Paloschi and Borriello at the same age. Verdi is the one that is talented but is not able to express what he has when it counts (Davide Di Gennaro too).

They are co-owned but they already are in Milan so we can keep them without paying for moment, and if we decide to buy the other half, well, they haven't done anything great yet, Beretta isn't even in our first team, so we won't pay that much ...

About Verdi, don't know how you can judge him this way as he hasn't got his chance yet and anyway, everyone in the club agreed to say that he was still too young (just 18 ?) to play in the first team, the best was to let him develop in Primavera one more year ... It was planned like that.

anyway just to save you some time, Jucilei is already sold to a Russian club for 10m euro...

and I certainly hope that your squad is wrong because I would definitely not be happy with it..I would like to get rid of Pirlo, Gattuso and Ambrosini, highly unlikely but hopefully. If rumors are to be believed from the last 3-4 years, 2011 summer was always going to be the summer that we will invest heavy in. Hopefully we can buy a few midfielders... I predict Aquilani could come here if Juve don't take the option on him.

One concern I have: Ibra/Cassano/Robinho/Pato - none of those four is world class and can take us to champions league glory next season. 3 of those 4 we just bought this year, and the fourth is the future of our side. I hope we renew Pippo's contract, he's the only one that can be depended on. On paper our forwards may seem to be the best in the world, but the reality is they are truly over rated... maybe Robinho can improve - because I've seen him at Real Madrid play truly spectac carrying his time, but Ibra - never did I see him carry his team in the CL (bar 1 game last season)... Pato's young and can develop... Cassano used to be great at Roma, he's never been the same since... I dont think he will be a good player at Milan (I"m one of very few who think this).

I think maybe you're a bit bitter about the loss last night. I've written the squad list 2 or 3 times, hopefully spurring on some others to do the same. I'm curious to see what others think.

I think you should take back what you've said about Ibra/Cassano/Robinho/Pato not being World Class. What's World Class then for you?? Cristiano Ronaldo & Messi ONLY??

In terms of Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Seedorf, I think we'll keep 2 of the 4. I think those 2 will be Gattuso & Ambrosini. I think we'll also try to keep Van Bommel. I think Pirlo and Seedorf are most likely gone. I also think we should sell Flamini, just as you do.

If you think we're having a Revolution, and you want all these players to be sold & released, and Jucilei is already sold to Russia, then who do you want to buy with all this new money??? Ganso.. anyone else? Coentrao?

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Dha Brain - 03-11-2011

we should go after fabregas barcelona has no room , and a catalan born player would never join real madrid , we need a mega midfielder , someone to help merkel boateng and van bommel mabey bataglia ( U - 20 ) argentina , i want to see whats going on with didac vila and sokratis too , widebacks that are unknown and good are Carlinhos , Papa ( velez sarsfield ) , Epharin Juarez ( celtic Fc ) i would take kaka ' back for a huge amount less we could use him like beckham was with us , goal keepers that are unknown are Memo Ochoa ( Club America ) , Tomas kuzchak ( Man United ) , De Gea ( Athletico Madrid ) , Italian players are

Domenico Criscito , Davide Astori , De Ceglie ( Juve long shot ) , Davide Santon ( Inter long shot outcast tho ) , we should really look at what wacky offer real madrid would offer for pato , is 40 mill plus benzema still possible ( 8 gols in europe ) ,

remember 1 mega midfielder , 1 top CB , and a so so or mega wideback , keep sokratis and boateng , buy Ibra's contract , and if we don't keep robinho then go after neymar real real expensive tho or promote cassano there ,

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Hitman - 03-11-2011

El Mago, I have been fantasizing about Fabregas for two years now, just as Dha Brain said , Cesc has no room at Barca and Milan need to start a new era, and with all these players contract's expiring, there's no better way to start. Highly unlikely.

And I do honestly believe we will see a revolution, we will see players in the mold of Constant coming in, and probably a new Gourcuff (Ganso) coming in, but I am starting to lose hope in Ganso as Kaka's rumors are increasing. Kaka was one of my favorite players of all time but I do not want him back not even for a free loan, he will simply postpone our decision to buy a new #10 and that is the last thing I want to see.

And to your question about who is a world class striker - Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Eto'o, Ronaldo (both), players who can change a game when they feel like it.... Ibrahimovic in Serie A... Pato could get there one day, but he plays like he is still 17 so I dont know when that day will be..... Balotelli looks like he'll get there..... Totti was great in his day but had similar probs to Ibra.... There aren't many WC strikers out there today actually, thats why we need to snatch players like Lucas (Marcelinho) at prices like 5m before booming into the scene and now his buyout clause is 80m....

Oh yeah I got one: NEYMAR. That's the kid we should sell any of our strikers for in my opinion. I also believe Coentrao is world class and can only improve here at Milan. He's much better than Cissokho who is a very solid player at best.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gio-mania - 03-11-2011

We are being linked to Alex Chamberlain, from Sunderland. Apparently the next Bale/Walcott.
