RE: Summer mercato 2015 - xudong - 05-19-2015

@Reza: I wonder if it would be a silly idea to set up a huge poll, basically asking for each MM member to voice their opinion on current Milan players on current roster (including the ones expected to return from loan - speaking of which, is Dídac Vilà still on our payroll? Facepalm). Something like:

Abbiati stay, go, can't decide
Lopez stay, go, can't decide
.....

I wonder (1) if it is a silly idea; (2) if it can be done.

I am particularly curious in how people feel about a few players, such as de Sciglio, Poli, Montolivo, etc.

Poll is a good idea, have to do it in groups, may be by position

I have actually been thinking the same. It would definitely be interesting. The ones I absolutely want to keep are:

Diego Lopez (player of the season)
Abate (quality player, bleeds red and black)
De Sciglio (big potential, needs an injury free season and better teammates to grow)
Paletta (reliable centre back, good to have on the bench)
Rami (see above)
Antonelli (a very good player, definitely one to keep)
Bonaventura (definitely a quality player)
De Jong (might be leaving, but will be important if he stays)
El Shaarawy (very similar situation to De Sciglio)
Honda (another good player to have on the bench)
Menez (frequently does the unexpected, can be brought on to unlock matches)

I wouldn't mind if Van Ginkel, Destro (that's right, I said it!), Montolivo and Zapata stay either, but that's about it.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - nefremo - 05-20-2015

I agree on most of what you said.

Some of the players I don't agree on...

Menez - I think if we are to build a "team" he has to go. If we are going to have a soloist, it has to be someone like Ibra, Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, etc. These guys dominate leagues, not only teams. Menez on the other hand is a soloist, but way below the class of the guys above. He can win you games here and there but will not make the players around him better. He won't help you become a team. I don't mind having him on the bench like you said, but he won't accept that and makes too much for that. Hell cause chaos in the locker room if we do that to him after benign the top scorer this year. It's definitely in his head now. IF we are indeed going to create a team and invest, I'd like to see us cash in on him while his stock is high.

De Jong - can be a quality player if he has the right players around him. So if we are going to bring in some technical players in the midfield then make every effort to keep him....but if we are not then he is going to be more frustrating. It seems like he won't renew anyhow.

Van Ginkel - yes only if he can stay on another year loan. I wouldn't spend a dime on him while our midfield doesn't have a single technician in it.(in other words, similar case to De Jong...although a different player with different - bit more attacking - qualities)

Zapata - he needs to get out IMO. Not good enough. I would keep Mexes before I keep Zapata.

Montolivo - not sure what happened to him. Used to be a bright spot but seems to have lost all his marbles. Injuries are an issue too obviously, but even when he was fit this year, he looked sloppy and heavy footed. Far from the player that carried our midfield some time ago. Problem is that even if we want to sell him, nobody will buy him now (that will offer him the salary he makes with us). Maybe, just maybe, an English team might go for him and that actually might be enticing to him, but I highly doubt there is a buyer that will interest him out there. The best case scenario is that he stays on as one of the senior members of the squad and regains his form (at least some of it). He also needs to be ok with spending some time on the bench (especially if he gives shit performances like he has this past year) and not create an uproar against the coaches that bench him.

Destro - coasts a lot of money. Before we get a proper midfield, even 1 CENT is too much for him. If we do get a proper midfield then I can understand why someone would want him....even if I personally am not a fan of him. I think he is an average classical penalty box striker. At this point of time, spending money on him will be a waste. But of course that may change like I said.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - reza - 05-20-2015

Threads and polls are now live in the Players forums, please use those threads for specific player discussions, thanks xu for idea.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - xudong - 05-20-2015

Thanks, Reza. I will now go to the threads and post my thought. There are however players whom I couldn't really decide, or just feel indifferent, but I will try my best to explain my thoughts.

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - nefremo - 05-20-2015

I'll post a reply here to summarize my votes on who I think we should keep since they are all in deferent threads. (Great idea by the way Xu and thanks for doing that Reza)

GKs - (3) - Lopez, Abbiati, Agazzi

DF - (9) - Abate, Antonelli, DeS, Feliciolli, Paletta, Rami, Bonera (5th CB), + BUY 1 starting CB + 1 Primavera CB (De Santis?)

MF - (7) - Montolivo, Poli, Suso, Bonaventura, +promote Mastalli, + BUY 2 starting CMs

AM - (3) - Suso, Honda, Mastour

SS - (2) - SES, Cerci

ST - (2) - Pazzini, + BUY 1 starting ST

That is 26 players out of which four ( Feliciolli, Mastalli, Mastour, De Santis) are from our Primavera. We would have to buy 1 CB, 2 CM, 1 ST. That's 4 starters...and if we do really have money to spend I would rather spend it on these starters then of average players.

Now for some fun...let's say that the papers are not Jist having a field day and are actually right that we'll spend somewhere around 100mil sales we bring in.

- Verratti (50mil I think will do it)-this is a dream of mine Big Grin,
- Gundogan (20mil, contract ends in a year),
- Ibrahimovic (10mil - issue will be salary more then the transfer fee I think)- only because he guarantees goals and victories and wouldn't be as expensive as other forwards who do the same. I really think we need a guarantee in this position. The other option is Falcao but he is more of an unknown these days.
- Starting CB (20-30mil) - can't think of one within the price range right now that's proven and world class and would also be willing to leave

Time to wake up! Big Grin

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - xudong - 05-20-2015

One more question: who would you want as our head coach?

Maybe Reza can have a poll too! (*giving myself a pat on the back*) Grinundwech

P.S. suggested choices: Inzaghi Big Grin, Conte, Ancelotti, Emery, Jesus (the one with Benfica right now, not the one that many pray to Icon_lol2), Berlusconi :d, Sarri, Seedorf :d, Brocchi, and others?

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - reza - 05-20-2015

We can have a new poll for that too, and of course I have to include my first choice ... Bielsa Big Grin

RE: Summer mercato 2015 - xudong - 05-20-2015

Who else are rumored? Montella too, I think?
