Honestly speaking, I never enjoy the fast passing game of Barcelona. I am more into this slow tempo game, where the midfield is tough to beat & defense are extremely hard to unlock, just like Italian team of 2006 & 2000. SO AC Milan should try to built a team in an Italian way, rather than following Johan Cryuff's philosophy of total football.

So instead of trying to be like Barcelona, AC Milan should be AC Milan & the teams to compare should be ACM of 1989-1995 & 2002-2007 Devilcool

i think Zeekay if you look back Barca play the classic Italian way, they play the percentages and keep the possession, draw the opponent in then hit them with pace.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 06-05-2011

The thing is that what is the classical ITalian way? If it means by midfield controlling possession wupith a tough back line then, you really can't say Barcelona is not like that. Since nobody can break their midfield. Some discredit ManU and stated that they played bad.....but to me Barca got close to 70% possession through out the CL final. That's not an easy thing to do.

Milan confirm talks with Witsel

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/05062011/58/serie-milan-confirm-witsel-talks.html

How can we sell Ibra if he was only on loan? Will Real not have to pay Barca the money?

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - shegs - 06-05-2011

I don't see any reason why the team should go for Witsel. He might be good, but is he really better than Merkel? or Strasser? Schweinstegger on the other hand, might not be the greatest CM of all time, but he'll add something different to the team as he has a wide array of abilities (sadly, hitting the bar is one of them) and can play anywhere across the midfield. Plus he's at the age where he might start hitting his peak. And He's experienced. Overall, I'd say he should be higher on the priority list than Witsel.

While he might be a good buy (and very expensive!), Bale's signing will only unsettle the any formation Allegri might intend to use to accommodate him. Why? Because for you to have a balanced team + wingers, you need two wingers! And since the present Milan doesn't have any wingers (I don't even remember Milan ever using wingers)... So, except there are plans to buy another winger I don't see how Bale's coming to Milan.

Fabregas. He might be 24, but he's played so many games, he's definitely a veteran! Veterans tend to get injured a lot, and Fabregas is certainly visiting the treatment table a lot these days. What's to say that even in a slower league like serie A, his injuries won't keep flaring up? Hamsik, IMO, is a better option (not necessarily a better player): They're around the same age, Hamsik scores a lot more (our midfielders don't score a lot these days) and costs a lot less. Besides, Hamsik knows serie A.

Mr. Moggi's comments:
"Hamsik is not a star, he's got class but very inconsistent. Fabregas obviously would be the best recruits. Milan should carefully see their options and invest their money in the right direction.”

Ganso.... A must!

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - abbeyleemania - 06-06-2011

Barcelona's team defence, passing, movement is thanks to their system... However Our Milan was really strong on 2004...
But We didnt spend to strength that team, signed freebies, old players or Gilardino kind of players...

Kaka, Sheva, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf midfield trio, One of greatest CB partnership in the world, World's best RB in Cafu, great GK in Dida... Barcelona is spending, but we didnt... We won 2 CL, lost one final, lost 2 semi finals thanks to Deportivo and Barcelona's refs...Marcus Merk, thanks to his stupid decision... Juve were great and had refs...Chealse were great with Mourinho, Manchester was always good, Real is worse than this...

Barcelona is reallly spending...They can pay 40 m euros for a striker...Let me remind you, Milan were looking for a striker, we loaned Crespo, who was out of self, was not playing, he was injured e.t.c. cuz we had Milan lab...

For instance Evra was on the market, When we need a LB, then United came and got him for 9 m euros in january market... They got both Vidic and Evra at same transfer period... for reasonable fees...

When we need for a RB, Cafu was too old and he was not like he was, but we didnt sign a RB, While inter got Maicon just for 5-6 m euros...

Today, we need 2 quality midfielder for midfield trio, but we are going for Witsel... i dont have anything againist Witsel or Belgium... i watched him and made my comments about him. Firstly, it seems we watched different players, as Witsel is not a complete midfielder, he is just tall, because of this he is great on arial game, he is good scorer, but vs weak teams... in Belgian league... Many says that he can play many position, yeah he can...But That many also says that he couldnt play good because of he played out of position... What counts if he can play various position? They say that Witsel can improve because he is younger than Asamoah... i really dont know why they are saying this, as he is really 1 month younger than Asamoah...

Complete midfielder means to me, dynamic, skilled, strong, fast, dribbler, shooter, passer, presser, agressive, can play 2 part of the game, creative e.t.c.

Criscitiello on Witsel...

You can see it, many is like me about Witsel, for me Asamoah is another level to Witsel...i wanted him...i still want him... They cost almost same amount, more or less...Asamoah is much better player, just 1 month older... He showed himself at Serie A e.t.c.

Witsel didnt play vs Germany, was unused sub...Witsel played very little, 14 mins vs Turkey's first game with them, He played only second game...

Anyone here watched him vs a strong and solid side? Turkey was the only real test so far for him... im saying it because of tension and high pressure of the game... Otherwise, Turkey's line up was pretty weak... They dont know how to defence, with average DM, Average defensive line, if you remember they gifted a goal to Belgium thanks to LB..
Emre Belezoglu, Arda Turan, Burak Yilmaz... They gave troubles to Belgian defence, with just 2 players in Arda Turan and Burak Yilmaz, with supporting of 2 good passer...if Witsel played at RCM, it would be harder for him, He would play againist Emre and Arda Turan... (who had a good game and assisted their goal) Emre B. was a quality player when he was at inter, but now he is in declined... He was good presser, who runs until the end of the game, good dribbler, fast, agressive... he didnt have last touch and finishing... i dont rate others... i want to say, Turkey is weak...They are a team, even they say that he dont know how to defence...

i hope MGT got lessons from the past...like they did with wages and renewal policy...

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - abbeyleemania - 06-06-2011

i read some interesting comments from Belgian Milan fans regarding Witsel... They are comparing him with Boateng but minus runs and sacrifices... Boateng makes his name thanks to his runs, sacrifice, fighting spirit...

A player tries to dribble, take responsibility, it doesnt matter if he lose the ball or he passed the player... The most important thing here is he tries... Takes responsbility, make sacrifices...

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 06-06-2011

Italy of 2006 was a team who controlled the Midfield. However, they controlled it in a very different way to Barcelona. As opposed to Barcelona's ball possession and tight 1-touch passing, Italy played a flexible 4-4-2 in which the midfield and defense closed down other team's offenses. They would allow ball possession to the other team, but wear them down with excellent defense and quick counter attacks (a lot of goals from dead ball situations as well)

Milan can play a similar system to Italy. However, they will have more options in attack and more lethal strikers than Italy. Ultimately, the best team for next year would be:

----------------------------------Pato-------------------------
-------------------Robinho/Ibra-----------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------Ganso/Hamsik---------------------
----------Fabregas------------------------------Boateng------
------------------------Van Bommel/Ambro------------------

* The defending of this midfield would not be as good as Gattuso-Pirlo-Perrotta-Camoranesi-DeRossi-Totti but it would offer 4 Hard Working midfielders who will cover for each other and NON_STOP running
* Robinho is so important to our team that sometimes I feel he should possibly start over Ibra & Pato. His work ethic is excellent for our team.

Subs: I would prefer Asamoah to Urby. Maybe a deal can be made? However, I like the experience of Gattuso. Obviously we will have Flamini, Ambrosini, Seedorf, & Merkel as well. Not a bad mix.

I'm asking for a lot but as others say, the time is now to invest in midfield and set the standard for the direction our management will take this team in the future....

This is the end of calcio. The once mighty Milan talking to some dodgy mediocre division 3 player. Berlusconi knows he has no money, guess the little he has as to be used fighting his legal battles. Can you imagine Barca buying a mediocre player? I can't. Milan are not on the same planet

Just: LOL!

From what I've seen on Goal.crap, apart from the articles and transfer rumors, even the people who comment on there are waaaaaay too stupid, really. Just Messi, Barca and C.Ronaldo fans who have never watched Serie A, mostly EPL and La Liga fanboys and think Messi and C.Ronaldo are TEH BEST EVAR! I don't bother much with them.

As I said a few posts above, I have never really watched this guy play. He becomes good in Football Manager though. Big Grin

But in most cases, I trust Galliani and Braida and their scouting.

While also envy Barca, they are the ultimate guard to the Real monster and their ambitious coach and team. Again what disgusts me is their endless spending power with full of corruption and undertable stuff.

After huge spending and failure, according to wiki: At the end of the 2009–10 season, the club board of directors of the clud stated that Real Madrid had a net debt of €244.6 million, 82.1 million lower than the previous fiscal year. WTF

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - WCmilan - 06-06-2011

Witsel Bale and Ganso ? Witsel Bale and Fabregas ... if any of those two combinations happen i'll be more then happy.. We keep being linked to vice-ibras like klose and bendtner , what do you guys think of those two players? Apparently Klose is relatively close and we're going to negotiate with bayern within the week.. I wonder if this is just a vice-ibra or paloschis way out? I hope to keep Paloschi, I don't think he'll be sold because allegri said he's a good addition to the attack.. Adding a vice-ibra would be a good idea we never know when we'll be in the same position as last year with binho & cassano striker.. Inzaghi hopefully will be fit most of the season i missed him alot since his injury he still has enough to offer imo
