RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Best-Pundit - 06-05-2011

I was and am never interested about Mercato gossips (simply because no one cares what fans are thinking, its all about the pocket of B&G), but this point of AC Milan never reaching the level of Barcelona is strange. AC Milan has its own levels to follow Sleepy

Honestly speaking, I never enjoy the fast passing game of Barcelona. I am more into this slow tempo game, where the midfield is tough to beat & defense are extremely hard to unlock, just like Italian team of 2006 & 2000. SO AC Milan should try to built a team in an Italian way, rather than following Johan Cryuff's philosophy of total football.

So instead of trying to be like Barcelona, AC Milan should be AC Milan & the teams to compare should be ACM of 1989-1995 & 2002-2007 Devilcool

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - mrki - 06-05-2011

Only 2 players are the ones i want for the LCM position: Fabregas and Bale. One ofthem, hopefully, will end up in Milan. Different caracteristics, yes, but both bring extra instant quality.

Ganso will arrive and that is a BIG +, as he is not considered as the big new player etc., etc. But, in my oppinion, he'll add much more impact then people expect him to do.

And as Thiago said: yes, MExes and Taiwo are good, but the best signing in NESTA.

For PERFECT mercato I'd sign Cesc and Ganso, creatin a perfect mix in our team, which will add Milan's famous class and technique into tactical discipline.

I want to add another name: Schweinsteiger.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Siregar - 06-05-2011

I still can't understand why people want Bale as left CM. Anyone can give an example (if possible some) a winger plays well regularly in the left/right CM and used as the play-maker of the team? Bale is expensive and he is not the type of player we really need.

I think you are overthinking the formation. Allegri's midfield is about fluidity and movement of personnel. Look at main midfields we used this year? It's not about defined positions aside from Anchor, it's about intelligently moving. When Left side pushes central, AM goes left/right, the RCM drops back. It's why this 4-3-1-2 was a lot better than last few we used.

Besides allegri realizes if we r giving a proper #10, players like cesc or ganso who aren't very quick, he knows pace and movement are needed in the midfield so they aren't marked out. Do you remember jube's rigid 4-3-1-2 last year? Diego is a good player but f, if unless you have spectacular movement, it's easy to mark out the CAM in the modern game if your cm's don't push up and your forwards cannot drop back (and that was case w/ iaquinta/amauri and marcisio, melo, sissoko).

Allegri wants 4 midfields who push up and attack together and drop back together. This is why he loves Hamsik, Schweinstagger etc. Bale would qualify as well even if he's more of a winger. Don't focus on that. Focus on fact Bale is hard working, technically skilled, good in posession, etc. All that said, I'd clearly prioritize a player like Cesc/Ganso over Bale. If we can get Bale as well, woo hoo!

To me:

------Cesc----------
Bale--MVB--FlamBoa

Good midfield. In many ways it'd take 4-2-2-2 or 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 looks in attack depending. And considering our forwards go wide a lot, even more. You'd see Cesc dropping to pure CM w/ Boateng and Bale pushing a lot

I'm just gonna be honest, I love Allegri's tactics. I liked them in 2008-9 at Cagliari. It was the natural progression of 4-3-1-2. It's just a fluid 4-4-2 w/o defined midfield positioning as much as a core team concept of roles and understanding where your teammates are and where you move.

I agree, but that's why Allegri wants hard working side CM's who attack and defend. The 4-3-1-2 is a dying formation. The classic 4-3-1-2 Trequartista is a dead position. That's why you need movement around him.

Let me say this... if we ONLY sign Cesc, and go w/ midfield of flamini, mvb, van bommel... with robinho/pato is it bad? No. Think about it...

Robinho naturally floats left, Boateng pushes up right our team would look like this in attack:

----------Pato
Robinho--Cesc--Boateng
--------MVB-Flams

This is a big reason i love Robinho, he provides incredibly intelligent movement and workrate, and is hard to mark out of a game. He takes up many different positions dragging defenders everywhere and he's amazing in posession. For a forward to complete 86% of his passes and he has no strength on ball? It's amazing. you could make case he holds it up better than Zlatan, even though they do it in COMPLETELY different ways.

Otherwise if we didn't have this ability you'd have to use Cesc in pure CM and have forwards ahead of him. You know like a 4-3-3 (we could sign another winger for ex.)

But yes, if it was up to me, I think I might prefer David Silva to Cesc. Silva is just sooo silky smooth with an amazing touch. Or maybe I'm still quivering after he tore the USA apart. It was like watching a professional play in park with amateurs.

see I just don't know how ganso and cesc will fit. They could, but both wanna be central brain of a team. Neither of them have the iniesta/seedorf quality to compliment the xavi/pirlo type player (if you follow). For this reason I think Hamsik + 1 of the Cesc/Ganso would make us infinitely better while providing us with world class technical midfield.

Than again, Cesc and Ganso are both brilliant players and intelligent players, so who am I to say they can't inevitably adapt.

I love this, love midfield., by far my favorite node of the team. I miss having a young pirlo, seedorf, savicevic, boban, albertini etc. I'm excited to see us pursuing next gen

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Hitman - 06-05-2011

Schweinsteiger - a great player for sure that any team will need..

however if we are going to be using a destroyer (ambro/mvb) in the middle, and prince/flamini on the right, we will definitely need a player with creativity and ability to be a trequartista from the left (seedorf, ganso, fabregas)... Schweinsteiger if bought should take the box to box position, whilst we still will need that star maestro player on the other position.... thats what I think.

I don't usually disagree with mrki, but this is a first... I dont think Bale should be brought as our LCM in a 3-man midfield, I am not too convinced he can do performances like he did against Inter consistently. I do agree with you about Ganso and Nesta though.

I'm still hoping for Cesc. My dream transfer for a few years, oh boy how perfect would it be if we got him. Galliani keeps saying don't worry we have up to August 31 - implying we will be bargaining until that day, and then we will just give them whatever offer we agreed upon. I hope by then we won't lose our targets to clubs like Inter or Barca or Real by them outbidding us.

btw - whats up Inters a$$e$? every single player we want, they go after! It's like they're trying really really hard to get our attention but they keep failing miserably... look at the Ganso saga for example Big Grin

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Siregar - 06-05-2011

@Ca Rossonero

With Bale-MVB-Flam/Gattuso/Boateng our midfield will lack of creativity even Fabrages plays (unfortunately in your formation behind strikers) except Fabregas ALWAYS drops back to the midfield each time we are in attacking mold which won't be 4-3-1-2 but more 4-4-2 since Fabrages will be always in the midfield position (CM). IMO the midfield is the heart of the attacking and a team must have a creative midfielder there to hold the tempo, build the game, etc. That's why Serginho as left CM was not a success even Pirlo was playing (the problem is Pirlo had to move forward which he couldn't).

So, a player in CM (left, centre or right) needs to take the ball from Bommel or defenders and play-make the game. Fabregas, or player behind striker will be only a helper to bridge the midfield and the striker. That's why when you see our game, we always used a creative player in the midfield either Pirlo or Seedorf (left CM) and in most of time Seedorf couldn't help much when he played as player behind striker (a part due to his characteristic not so suitable playing there, the other was that the team didn't posses a player who could build the game when Pirlo didn't play).

I believe Allegri won't play Bale as left CM since it is not his best position and Milan earn minimal from his form in that position. If we get Bale, he will be used as player behind striker, I predict.

With 4-3-1-2 formation we need:
1. Creative midfielder in the 3-midfield position (last year is Pirlo in the first half of the season and Seedorf the second half of the season).
2. We need player who can bridge the 3-midfield and the two strikers (last year is Boateng)
About Ganso, from Galliani's interview it seems that we will get him. Galliani said pretty often (I don't know if it is the same interview used from one day to another day for the transfer news) that Ganso will come if the non-EU rule is back to the previous one (2 non-EU players outside Italy per team each season CMIIW).

So, a normal transfer season for midfielder in this season IMO is a cheap midfielder (5-15 mil euros) plus Ganso. A better one (if Berlusconi does give a gift) a high quality CM plus Ganso. Other player could be bought if we sell our important player (Gattuso, Flamini for example).

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - LebRN - 06-05-2011

again news about real madrid wanting Ibra for 40Mio and we might look for Balotelli as replacement...

I know there has been a lot of debate about the possibility of selling Ibra but i don't think we had a number to consider....so 40Mio is a huge amount for a someone who will be turning 30 in Oct.

I think if that is really the offer then we should go for it but definitely not go for Balotelli as a replacement. I mean there is nothing i would like more than getting a young Italian talent which he definitely is but he is a such a freakin risk and I think Rossi would fit much better with the current strikers we have.

Another excellent option would be Aguero Smile

oh and another thing, i have to agree with Ca Rossonero about how Fabregas worth would show much better with a moving Rossi/Aguero than a static Ibra

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - mrki - 06-05-2011

It is so nice to talk to oyu guys so respectfully and peacefully about calcio and our Milan.

I do not think that Milan's formation will be strict, as we will not have a classical no.10 who can play in front of the midfield. Last player like that was young Kaka'. Later on Milan got the compactness by playing him next to the CF. ( Something I would to with Sao Paolo Lucas!! in some years...)

Ido not think there can be problems to play Bale in our midfield. As our team will basically be a vibrant 4-4-2.

Players like Ganso and Fabregas are capable of playing vetween the lines as a CAm, but that is not their main caracteristic. What is, is that they tend to play deep. That is why I do not see any problems in playing Bale + Ganso/Cesc.

Bale-Ganso-Bommel-Boa-

Ganso-Cesc-Bommel-Boa--

It doesnt matter on the paper. What matters is that those are VERSATILE players that can play up and down and dominate the midfield with quality.

I do agree, I'd take Cesc over Bale any day. But I'd take Bale over Hamsik as well.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Siregar - 06-05-2011

Ibra is our turning point to start a new era. He was not our best player of the season, he is however as other said in other forum (which I do agree) our most important (decisive) player last season. He brought and spread the champion mentality to other players including young and new players (I read that Ibra talked something like "Don't tell Merkel what to do, just let that kid play" when Merkel played for Milan). We suffered when Ibra played his first games but then he brought us to the scudetto mentality. I can't see him leaving, he is counted extremely important by our management IMO).

And if he does really go (which I do doubt it), I agree with LebRn, don't go for Balotelli. What he can offer to Milan? Only troubles? Cassano with his bad attitude still gave quality performances in his previous clubs. Balotelli in Inter? Man City? Was he that good in that club? Milan should not waste money for player like him. He is Italian, he is a Milan fan but if he gives little value to Milan, better to skip him.

About Schweinsteiger, I do think he is more than capable to play as left CM and be our conductor in the midfield since he has played a similar job for Germany as deep-lying play-maker (Pirlo's role). If someone could do Pirlo's role well, he should be able to take the responsibility of building the game as CM.
I read on other forum that Moggi suggested Milan to buy CM wisely. He suggested Fabregas not Hamsik if I remember it correctly since Fabregas is quality Milan need (or something like that). Anyone read that and could provide the Moggi's statement?
