RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - Sampinjon - 07-23-2022 This is sad. We're now second year in CL + we are champions. It's not sport billy bag when it comes to money, but it should provide us at least 50-60M for mercato. It seems we're more poor now than we were five years ago ![]() Bitching about 2-3 mills here and there, at the end will leave us with Sosa/Constant type of signings... RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - xudong - 07-23-2022 I am usually okay with not getting new players. Winning mercato certainly is always exciting, but I have also enjoyed the many summers back in 90s and early 00s when Inter Merda dominated the market but always fell short at the end of the season when it truly counted. This summer, I am not concerned that we already lost Botman and seem to be losing out on CDK or Sanchez. I don't care. I will be happy to get them, but not bothered if we don't. What I do feel a bit concerned: 1. We have alarming need to fill certain holes in our lineup, and everybody is aware of that. Yet we can't seem to do anything about that. 2. I am usually not the one that complains about the budget, but if over the years we used 'not making CL' as an excuse to not spend, then when we made the CL two years in a row, and even won the Scudetto (I know that the prize money isn't much, but still), one would expect to see some big spending. Again, back to CDK saga, I don't get particularly excited by any certain player, or saddened by missing out on them, but what's unfolding is quite embarrassing. Those "journalists" make it worse and further tainted our image. 3. Most importantly, the change of ownership. The fact that Maldini renewed his own contract only in the last minute. I have said several times that I wasn't at all excited about this particular change of ownership. I wasn't a fan of Elliott either, but why fix anything that ain't broken? Elliott saw a great chance to profit, and that was the only reason this happens (so, yes, it was bound to happen anyway). The issue is that I have not yet seen anything positive or promising out of this new RedBird management. I know that this Gerry Cardinale guy had some emotional and inspirational speech, but being cynical as I am, I don't really care too much about those who talk a lot. I have lived in the US for long enough to know that there are full of this kind of people who talk a lot but really don't much to back it up. Again, this isn't necessarily that I think this guy is a fraud. He is most likely not, but it is that I haven't seen anything yet. Until I see it, I won't believe it. Back to Maldini, I have unlimited respect and trust on him. Milan is family to him. Remember when he refused to come out when he didn't believe Milan had a good project? I am worried that this time around he saw the same (or, similar) thing; if he was completely convinced, I doubt that he would need to wait until the last minute to extend his contract. The only difference this time was that he is already in the club and he probably couldn't throw away everything that he just built in the past seasons, and decided to give it a shot, despite that he wasn't given necessary support. If he wasn't with us already, I am afraid that he would just continue to stay away. I don't envy other teams who just splash cash and get players left and right just for the sake of it. I am excited with Adli, and I feel that we have a great core moving forward, even with an aging attacking line (this eventually needs to be addressed) and inapt attacking midfield position. But we will need to fix the gaping hole that is RW! We are not talking about lack of backup in CB or LB, or even midfielders (more quality and depth is certainly welcomed), at RW we don't have a decent starter!!! My dream (which will forever remain just a dream) is Chiesa. He is the biggest star on Azzurri and if Gerry and RedBird got him that would be a huge statement. Instead, we are sending all signals in opposite directions. RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - ACMmike - 07-23-2022 Back to banter era we seem to be going. What the fk is going on how stupid really is m&m or red bird or whoever is in charge here. We need signings you morons! Oh the pathetic state this team will be in if we don’t sign a midfielder. Talk all you guys want Kessie was half our midfield. On his own he’s not easy to replace and clearly we don’t know wtf to do I was super optimistic thinking ok M&M know what to do this is just a minor roadblock . The minute botman went to Newcastle after how closely linked he was I said damn we really are going to end up screwed RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - Codazzi - 07-24-2022 (07-23-2022, 09:41 PM)ACMmike Wrote: Back to banter era we seem to be going. I agree completely and feel the frustration wholeheartedly. Can't see any reason to be optimistic. We screw this mercato so far, clear as day. RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - honsano - 07-24-2022 I get people are frustrated that we don’t sign someone and get instant impact. I’m not even talking about spending a ton of money, but just adding bodies. The media are a mess and they are making things seem much worse by their speculation. BUT, it is clear we have a limited budget. For now, it appears that sums of about 5 - 10 mil are a lot for us and result in haggling. That sucks yet let’s not forget, the difference of not over paying for a Vlasic last season resulted in us having Adli this season. The signs are pointing to him performing at high levels. If management continue to move smartly then we can grow this slowly. At some point, to reach CL semi levels and keep big name players wanting success, we need big investments to fill holes AND add depth. Let’s see where RedBird takes us. Good news that Milan at least shut down those referendum requests. RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - sylrus - 07-24-2022 (07-23-2022, 09:41 PM)ACMmike Wrote: Back to banter era we seem to be going. We need signings you morons! i disagree, we need a rw not a midfielder imo, adli and pobega can cover that spot, what we need is a rw and st, if we still have the budget we can go get a backup cd or just use our youth, sometimes you need to look at what you have not what others have Summer Mercato 2022 - Inas - 07-24-2022 Milan key signings this season: 1. Origi 2. Interested 3. Next Week 4. Confident 5. On the Verge 6. Close To 7. Che Fiducia 8. Grazie as seen somewhere RE: Summer Mercato 2022 - reza - 07-24-2022 (07-24-2022, 06:40 AM)Inas Wrote: Milan key signings this season: I am going to open week 1 match thread very early and take a break from mercato. I think my hate for the guy for leaving made me neglect the clear as day fact that he played almost every single game and was integral in Pioli system. I like Pobega and Adli but I really don’t think they fill Kessie boots at all. Our best 2 MF are Tonali and Bennacer IMO, Pobega and Adli as the alternative is good for me. I prefer our MF not to be limited like Kessie. |
