Dev, thanks for sharing yet another insightful piece of analysis.
I will rewatch this match this afternoon and will keep your evaluations in mind when I get another chance to observe more clearly on a HD link (see below, if anyone is interested). Another young project that should be optimised.
I totally agree with other posters, best thing for us as fans is he is out from transfer list (either sale of half contract or loan).

I agree with most of what you say in that post. I think his major strengths include his vision (his passing does remind me of Pirlo), his confidence that is uncharacteristic of his age (willingness to take risk), his tactical awareness (both offensively and defensively), and interestingly, his physicality (despite his young age, he seems pacy and strong). I also agree that his weaknesses include his occasional lack of focus, and sometimes poor judgment of ball, which leads me to think that Allegri did play him in a proper position, at least until he gets more experience under his belt. In a way, I agree with Allegri that too much pressure may not be a good thing for young players like him, even though he looks very mature for his age. I guess that's the only thing I disagree with you in your post (you believe that regista should be his best position, if I understand you correctly).

I actually agree for now using him as mezzala is fine as he's obviously still learning. I just meant for the long term he's better suited for regista.

Does anybody know what happened to Cristante? He hasn't been called up to the first team matches but I don't think he has been playing for the Primavera either. Is he injured again?

It's a shame his season has turned out as it has. Like El Shaarawy, I just want him to recover for next season, with a proper place and opportunities in the first team squad.

Shame that he has been on the sideline for this long due to injury, when this season really could have been his breakout one. But at least age is on his side, (hopefully) with an administration that truly trusts him and a coach that knows to how to develop him, this young kid will have a bright future with us.
