Or is there any last minute drama left? I mean, Allegri declares that he needs Pirlo & AC Milan give him a 2-3 season contract. He can still be used as a regalar LCM or RCM with MVB, Boateng & Flamini

Pirlo is without a doubt not only one of my favourite players in Milan's history, but imo another legend in the club's history and Italian football. Technically he's an incredible player with quite possibly the best range of passing I've ever seen. In addition, he has very special qualities which all great creative talents have and that's vision and intelligence. These qualities defined his game and Milan's for 10 years.
Many have also argued Pirlo was dropped deep in midfield because he didn't have the pace or strength to play higher up the pitch. I couldn't disagree more, as anyone who saw him in the second half of the 2001/02 season will know that without him as trequartista we'd never have reached CL in 2002/03. His transition from AM to DM was purely tactical, as he was too vital to leave out of the team, but with Seedorf and Rui Costa, also struggled for space as trequartista.
If Zidane and Rui Costa were the last of a dying breed of traditional playmakers, then Pirlo was argubly the biggest influence in the rise of the modern equivalent of a trequartista in the form of a deep playmaker.
It is extremely sad to see a player who I respect a great deal to leave Milan, especially one who has been the quiet centrepiece of the side in the past 10 years, but I do think this is the right decision for both parties. Our game no longer uses a player of Pirlo's qualities, and it would be detrimental for him to stay only to awkwardly fit into the side. I wish him all the best in the future, and hope he can maybe return to the club in the future in a different role.

He would be as old as Seedorf is rite now, so he could still play for AC Milan

Another comment inspired by your article: when Ancelotti arrived, he replaced Albertini with Pirlo; I feel that Allegri is going down a same path - to put his stamp on the team. The question is now: who is Allegri's new "brain"? I hope it is Ganso. In my opinion, Ganso resembles Rivaldo, a perfect LCM who can be used in the center behind two attackers if necessary. I hope that we get him this summer and that he stays injury-free.

xudong: Astute points. Robinho has indeed dropped deep on several occasions. In fact, Seedorf's positioning in that game in general was horrific (his slip with the ball was the final straw).
Regarding the "brain," (as you put it nicely) I really hope whichever player we get doesn't take too long to settle. This is my biggest concern. The thing that struck me about Pirlo's performance in the Coppa Italia recently was how naturally he slotted back in after injury. Of course, he has been at Milan for so may years, so that helps. But I hope any player coming in is able to acclimate quickly. KPB and Robinho have (credit goes to Allegri too); hopefully, the new player, whoever he is, does the same.
It is especially crucial that they do because they will be the "brain" of the team, and if our play hinges on them even to a degree they need to get in the groove from the outset.
