he is too old, he should retire and give the younger players a chance! plus he commands a high wage which could be better spent on a young player who remains fit for more than 5 games a season

I have very mixed feeling. On one hand, I think he has proven himself to be very useful in big games; he can be invisible the entire game but when you see him he may have scored; on the other hand, he is getting old and very injury-prone (he can hurt himself just by running). I am afraid that he won't be available for services when we need him (like Gio-mania said, he is probably fit for 5 games a season).
I am sure though Milan administration will give him a one-year extension. I just hope that it won't be on a high salary.

he earns over €5 million a season, I read €7.5 million, not sure if its correct. That means he is getting over €1 million per game if he only manages 5 games a season. Only an idiot would keep him.

In the seasons prior to this one he has averaged about 30 games a season (I'm not sure how many from start). This year they have only been 8. So maybe I was vastly exaggerating when I said 5 games.

Players like Pippo, Maldini, Gattuso, Ambrosini etc etc have always given more than 100% for the shirt. They're icons for the club (Maldini is a legend, but anyway). They have accepted the bench, but when duty calls they are always ready and have always delivered. Also great influence both on and off the pitch These players are also role models for the aspiring young players. In one word, they are priceless. Icons and legends should be kept at all costs at the club until they retire, and if possible later to give them roles within the club or the coaching staff. I don't want us to be a Real Madrid type of club, who sell Raul for example just because some prick like C.Ronaldo wants the number 7, or Barcelona who sell Ronaldinho just because they think he's finished and they have Messi. Hell, I'd better have one Inzaghi than 2 crybabies like C.Ronaldo in my team.

To those who think Pippo should not be renew and retire. Pls know this FACT. Milan scored a total of 7 goals in 8 CL games this past year. DInho got 1 while Ibra got 4, Pippo scored the remaining 2 goals. I am not a stats wiz but that should be 2 more goals scored than the combine efforts of Robinho and Pato. Beside, where can you find a critical finisher like Pippo who is willing to sit on the bench for a month and score goals when call upon with a manageable wages?
This is something I once read over a Chinese Columns, it published around the time where Raul and Pippo were exchanging lead in the all time CL scorers.
Basically it stated that Raul is an example of Blue Blood in society, as he was extremely gifted and was brought up by one of the best environment possible(A. Madrid then Real youth academy). Due to that, his first job was at a huge company(Real) and he never look back(breaking scoring records after records). On the other hand, you have Pippo, who is the people champion. As he was never naturally gifted like his peers, and had to work his way up step by step(Piacenze, Parma, Atalanta...). Due to his hard work, he managed to make something out of nothing for his life(becoming the legend today).

Very nice comparison between Raul and Inzaghi.
Just to clarify: I love Pippo, and am firmly convinced that he will be useful in big games while most of our "stars" can't seem to step up. My only concern is that he can injure himself without contact, which was what happened to his last injury. He is getting old. That's why I have mixed feeling, but I guess I am more inclined to having him stay as our 5th forward.
It is too hard to say goodbye to Pippo.
