RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Sputnik - 05-20-2011 (05-20-2011, 03:55 PM)ACMILAN1983 Wrote: Strasser did say he really doesn't know about Cassano staying. I think Cassano will leave though, purely because he's not really settled in Milan (the city) and his family moved back to Genoa. He's also a player that needs regular first team football, as he wants to take responsibility of being a leader in the national side, but this isn't something he's even close to guaranteed at Milan. I agree. Cassano might stay but no first team football guaranteed for him. Fester said that we won't buy V.d. Vaart cause Allegri wants "a more combative player". That fits the Essien type of player. In fact, since we're already dropping the deep playmaker thing, Essien would not be a bad idea at all. He is 28. Though, he's not the spectacular and skilled trequartista everybody seems to expect. You think a midfield of MVB, Prince and Essien would lack creativity in a 4-3-3 formation? This could be a great move, - He is a true & class CAM. - The reunion with Robinho. - Unexpensive. His body frame looks like Seedorf's, we can make a good LCM out of him. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - reza - 05-20-2011 (05-20-2011, 04:13 PM)Sputnik Wrote: You think a midfield of MVB, Prince and Essien would lack creativity in a 4-3-3 formation? My new found faith in Allegri tells me surely this will never happen. Unless Abate and Taiwo keep improving this will mean the 3 'forward' players will forever be isolated. I really like Prince, and even Essien - I am remembering some Chelsea games from years past - and what they have in terms of making forward runs but this is not enough by itself. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 05-20-2011 The 4-3-3 will not happen. A guy like Diego is good as a trequartista, but I do not think he has the characteristics that Allegri wants. The problem from what I've seen & heard about him, is that he plays "too close" to the forwards. He does not drop back, and he's often out of position. He also sometimes plays as a Second Striker, and likes to attack a lot. He's creative, quick, and a good shooter, but as a true #10, you have to have the system for a player like that. Allegri clearly wants a 4-4-2/4-3-1-2 [Diamond Formation] .... All 4 in Midfield must be dynamic, and the ACM must be able to drop back and defend, as well as make runs into the box. Essien, Boateng, Van Bommel could work, but only with another midfielder at the top of the diamond who can create, make runs, and frankly, be all over the field (ie. Hamsik, Ganso, Fabregas) RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - russo-neri - 05-20-2011 Diego should replace Cassano then. Let's give Cassano to Napoli or Lazio for Hamsik/Hernanes and then replace Cassano with Diego. $10 million is a steal! I don't watch EPL. But I thought I heard that Essien isn't as good anymore after sustaining an injury. Is it true? RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Ca Rossonero - 05-20-2011 (05-20-2011, 04:21 PM)Aficio Wrote: This could be a great move, heh i always think same thing when i see him. I agree with some of criticism above about Diego, but at same time, he is a bit combative. He has no problem with contact and playing thru it... Here are some recent Galliani quotes: Milanello AC Milan News Galliani: "We also agree on Ganso. We need a dynamic player, a classic #10 is not enough. If Seedorf leaves, we need two new players." 6 hours ago AC Milan News Milanello AC Milan News Galliani: "Van der Vaart? No. Allegri wants a more combative midfielder and we always agree, I don't know why." 6 hours ago AC Milan News Milanello AC Milan News Galliani: "Pastore and Hamsik? We will not sign someone from Italy. We are looking for a left midfielder from abroad." 6 hours ago AC Milan News Milanello AC Milan News Galliani: "Kaka cannot return because the tax in Spain is lower. I suppose I could see Cassano in Napoli or Palermo. Cassano gives them a different look but if we could use him to get hamsik i'm all for it. Napoli seemto have Inler locked up. But they need to sure up the backline. Perhaps selling Hamsik for 30 mil + Cassano would allow that. They'd have cashflow to shore up backline and have front 6 of inler, pazienza, gargano...lavezzi, cassano, cavani. I can make the case it's logical RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - russo-neri - 05-20-2011 "Perhaps selling Hamsik for 30 mil + Cassano " Huh? That's way to much. Cassano+10 is more than enough RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - ElMago99 - 05-20-2011 (05-20-2011, 04:58 PM)russo-neri Wrote: "Perhaps selling Hamsik for 30 mil + Cassano " Of course! RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Ca Rossonero - 05-20-2011 (05-20-2011, 04:58 PM)russo-neri Wrote: "Perhaps selling Hamsik for 30 mil + Cassano " No chance on earth. Cassano has so little market value.... consider: his history his fitness his age This all points to why i think he's still way more valuable to us, than as a 'market tool'. Why on EARTH would Napoli give us hamsik (who is turning 24 this summer) for a 29 year old Cassano who has been kicked off every club he's played for, and often unfit and only 10 mil? If they put hamsik on market one of chelsea, city, man utd would offer 35 mil (all 3 like him) To be he's worth it too because of age, versatility and production. Especially with Robinho and Zlatan, an AM who plays simple, and moves off ball, and does all the little things Zlatan doesn't will enhance him. Someone said you can find players who score as much as him but contribute more. Name me one midfielder other than lampard who averages over 10 goals (from open play) a season for over 4 years? If it was THAT easy, more would do it (no Ronaldo/Messi etc. dont count) |
