I want a fluid game, with a lot of through balls. So Abate's crossing isn't a problem for me. He's been better on that phase this season than in the last season. He's been working on his crosses throughout the season, and he'll surely improve his crossing. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - russo-neri - 05-18-2011 Is abate the greatest FB ever? No. Is he the best FB in the world right now? No. But is he above average with a lot of potential left? Absolutely! We should focus on the biggest holes in our team and they all reside in our midfield. When will Ambro meet with Galliani? RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gabriel426 - 05-18-2011 Abate is the best RB in Serie A and a top 5 RB in the world, yet, some of you still want a better RB! Milan fans are really hard to fulfill. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - cuoremilan - 05-18-2011 Hard to say I'm not a bit gutted by Pirlo's departure, almost on level with Sheva's departure (a bit less), more so than with Kaka, I guess because I knew Kaka was going to leave us sooner or later (kind of like Pato), but after all the rumours and all the time he was close to leave, I always thought Pirlo was going to retire here. . It's gonna be even worse if he ends up at Juventus, please Andrea think it twice before going there PLEASE. I dunno I still think he would've been very useful to the team, he still was relatively young (compared to the rest of the old guard, hence why I understand he didn't like the 1 year contract deal), he could still deliver good performances at mezzala, I think he could've develop wonderful chemistry with Zlatan (and he did), and for a good part of the time he spent injured it was clear we needed him...pity the injury happened... Anyway, guess this is it, finally we're starting to make those big changes we never did before...with Pirlo we would've still need another creative midfielder, now without him we need 2, it's a weird feeling between exciting and nostalgia, to see us changing the team that I basically grew up with, but bringing in new ones that will write a new page in the history of the team. Bye Andrea, and thank you for this wonderful 10 years, one of the best Milan signings (it was just genius), and a delight to watch him play. One of the last of his class available...we had him for 10 years and saw the very best of him so we have to move on (geez this is what Milan fans of the 90's felt when Albertini left, which I felt, but wasn't nearly as gutted simply because I arrived late to the Albertini days). RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - fLame - 05-18-2011 For me Pirlo is an all time great of AC Milan. Needless to say his departure is leaving me gutted here, although I realize it's for the good of the team. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Gio-mania - 05-18-2011 Bye bye Pirlo. It was an honour having you on the team. In my opinion one of our all time greats. The thought of him retiring is a sad one, but now we are actually giving him to Juve. It will hurt seeing him in the bianconero shirt. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - russo-neri - 05-18-2011 Thought I'd put together our prelim depth chart. This assumes a few things: Ambro stays, Villa is loaned, Papa is sold and Seedorf, Legro and Janku sign elsewhere. GK: Abbiati, Roma, Amelia/Marchetti/TBD FB: Abate, Taiwo, Zambro, Antonini, Oddo CB: Silva, Nesta, Mexes, Yepes, Bonera CDM: Van Bommel, Gattuso/TBD, Strasser CM: TBD, Flamini, Ambrosini, Emanuelson, Merkel CAM: TBD, Boateng FW: Ibra, Pato, Robinho, Cassano, Pippo, Oduamadi/Berretta It is quite obvious when you look at the team this way that we seriously need 2 mids. If Gattuso is sold, then we would need 3. I mean look who our #1 CM is - Flamini!!! That's the best player we have in RM/LM if we were to believe Galliani's statement about Prince being our CAM. No - we need to spend big money on an everyday CAM and slot Prince over to CM. Preferably, I'd like the luxury of having flamini/ambro/etc as squad players meaning we would need a CM opposite Boateng. This is why I want Hernanes and Ganso so much. hernanes' versatility in midfield coupled with Ganso's potential could be devastating! PS - I know everyone wants us to dump Oddo and Bonera, but I don't think either will happen. Both players know the system. You shouldn't change a successful team too much. Both players are very far down the bench, so there shouldn't be too much effect from keeping them. though potentially Galliani could lose 1 or both - simply to lower the squad total down (according to my list, we would have 29 players). And I would seriously rather keep Papa than bonera as a 5th CB, but Papa would get us a lot more money in the transfer market, so we should sell him. RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - brasileiro - 05-18-2011 (05-18-2011, 08:06 AM)Gabriel426 Wrote: Well, he did not have someone like Xavi and Iniesta next to him in Argentina 2010 WC squad. Anyhow, whats done is done. Beside, I just think that Argentina only had one bad game in the whole tournament, which so happened to be their last game too.BIG and OFF TOPIC: So Gabriel... You down play Pele by saying he played at the best team of his time. Ok... What I can´t understand, is the fact that at the same time you didn´t mentioned that Messi only shyne at this Barça, a team that for several pundits(and fans) around the World, is the best Barça of all time. Why the double standard, Gabriel? Plus, unlike Pele(that won a WC at 16yo being a BIG factor), everyone is still waiting for Messi explosion at Argentine NT(To be fair, Maradona also disappointed at Spain 82). Besides, I´m not only talking about World Cup... Messi still can´t be the same of Barcelona at Argentine NT meaningless games. And before you talk about playing for the great Brazil... Until Pele, Brazil wasn´t a factor at international level. It´s history, not my words. To make my point even more clear, before him(Pele) we´ve never won a World Cup!!!! To make the situation even more interesting, before our first title with Pele(1958), we lost to Uruguai at home in 1950. With more than 200.000 people at Maracanã... One more thing, after his retirement, Brazil take until 1994 to win a World Cup again. You also talked about play for to play and easy football... just imagine if Messi received the treatment Pele received at 1966 World Cup in England. Portugal players fouled him out of the game... game not, out of the world Cup. And no one received even a card. Watch the film(Pele Eterno) Gabriel, and see the segment of the way teams literally HUNTED Pele on the field. You will be amazed... and even more because no player were sent off. I changed a lot of my beliefs after that film. Just a sugestion... Today, if you look angry at any Barça palyer, it´s a sure yellow. Busquet cheat all the time, call Marcelo Mono(monkey) and nothing happens. I would love to see what punishment a player would receive for fouling Mesi out of the game the way Pele was fouled back in time. Plus, go to a museum and take a look at the type of ball Pele(and others) played 90% of their career. I had a chance to play with one for fun, and I would love to see people saying it was easy back them to play with that heavy peace of trash. Even more when wet... And the quality of the pitches back in time? Terrible... Messi is young, has all the time on his side, but still has a lot to do to dethrone Maradona as the best Argentine player ever. Pele is right and have the right to express his opinion. Why this angry towards Pele, my friend? Now, if you talk about his games predictions ![]() Btw, unlike several people I see at internet, I watched Maradona playing at Napoli and Argentine NT so, I´m very confortable to compare him with Messi... RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Arildonardo - 05-18-2011 Pirlo has been my favorite Milan player after Maldini for the last 10 years, now he's gone. I think it's a sad day. He could have done so much more for us. It's a shame to let him leave because I think he could do well in other roles than his usual regista role. He can split defenses like no other. And also, we're keeping Inzaghi? I don't get this.
