200mill could get us Verratti, BErnadeschi, Belotti, Astori/Rugani, Insigne. Still leaves us without a LB unfortunately...

I was thinking the same thing, though it might be wishful thinking at best.

Forget about the 200mil guys. That money belongs to Fininvest, not Milan.....if it was ever there to begin with. They'll probably cover the loss for the year and call it a day.

This is probably the only company in the world that makes record losses every year yet nobody has to answer for it.

I know it's wishful thinking... the reality would be a bunch of money on sub par players and the rest gets pocketed.

Unless specifically stated in the contract, I am not even sure if Fininvest get to keep any of the deposit at all. That money is more of a good faith gesture than anything else to me, not free money to Fininvest.

RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - xudong - 03-01-2017

The whole purpose of deposit is so that Milan can get compensated if the potential buyers fall through. It should not have been any good faith gesture, but if it happened, that wouldn't surprise me a bit because it probably was another masterpiece by Berlusconi.

Last year, Bee didn't have to pay any penalty because they revised the deal in the last minute and the penalty was dropped. Berlusconi is a shrewd businessman and an old fox, so that's not the type of rookie mistake that he would make. The only possible explanation is that he was the mastermind behind that. Laundering the money? I don't know. Or, otherwise innocent play to pacify the fans? I don't know.

Don't be too surprised if in a few weeks, Berlusconi would decide not to sell, and decide to "return" all the "deposits" for the sake of "friendship" and "good will". Rolleyes

At this stage I'd rather see Berlusconi's ItalMilan project happen than Chinese owners. This is too shady of a deal. Pulling out so many damn times. Clearly they do not have the money.

I think Berlusconi just wanted to cash in one last time before he dies. He has made a quick deal, just like he was trying to do with Bee. Since day one, I have not believed in this deal and I do not think the club should be sold to the Chinese.

I also completely believe that Maldini knows something we don't. It wouldn't have been easier for him to say no to working with Milan, at the same time he knows that if he did agree to come back, that would give legitimacy to the new buyers who are people no one knows anything about.

With Galliani and Berlusconi, the evil is known. Who knows what the Chinese, who apparently haven't been involved with top level football ever and have no experience, will bring?

RE: Venting, sell the club, etc. thread - nefremo - 03-01-2017

There were news that the deposit was non-refundable....but again, as it's been said, who knows if it was even paid. Nothing will surprise me anymore.

Like many of you are saying, I would rather Berlu not sell to this group. This is as shady as it comes. Until now, I was entertaining the different ideas of why the investors don't want to be known, why the money isn't there yet, the red tape ideas, etc, etc, etc. But I no longer believe in any of it. I can't for the life of me figure out why investors don't want to be known, especially if the entire negotiation process is already finished anyway?!?!? If this is a legit operation, there really isn't a good reason as to why they would mind so much if they were announced to the public. Also, the money was supposed to be in Luxembourg last week already.....now a couple of investors "walked out on the deal"??? The money was supposed to get through a few hurdles already by know, which means that it had to have been deposited somewhere (Hong Kong according to reports) a long time ago. Clearly it wasn't. I don't buy any of it.

This has bullshit written all over it and the only reason Fininvest is still in this is the fact that they just want a payday. Simple as that. There is no way they don't see the writing on the wall, but they don't care. There is no way that they don't know that there are some huge issues with this group but they don't care. They (and also Berlu apparently) simply don't care about what will happen to Milan after the closing. They want out, and they want out right now. They are even willing to let these people keep paying in installments just so they can get their money and get rid of this club. They don't give a damn if they get the money now, or if it's spread out over the next 3 months because this group is scrambling to find the cash. It makes no difference to them, as long as they gather the money and break loose of this money wasting machine called Milan. They also know that it would be very stupid to pull the plug now as no other sane person will give them the same valuation.

So this deal will be closed because Fininvest will grant all the 30 day extensions that Yonghong Li wants until they take the very last penny that was promised to them in the negotiations. That's for sure imo. But what follows after that is not so sure and will probably not be pretty for Milan and for us. Obviously, neither Fininvest nor Berlu care about that part. As I said before, this will end up being a "Erik Thohir type of takeover". It will be like a "Peter Lim Takeover" in Valencia. I don't expect anything more than this. A group that's taking almost a year to come up with funds to buy the club will surely not come up with 150-200 million per transfer market to strengthen the team. It makes no sense.

I am sooo disappointed and so mad with Fininvest and especially Berlusconi for letting this happen. They knew who they were dealing with, and if they didn't know they simply didn't care. Either way, they are just sweeping Milan and the fans under the rug. I thought we would finally get out of this dark tunnel this year with new investments. Instead, I see no end to this disaster. We seem to be heading from one tunnel into another.

The whole thing is a joke. Broken promises as usual. Maldini was right all along.

Berlusconi rejects reduced offer

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, this has led to SES proposing a reduced takeover fee to Fininvest, in order to close the deal now.
With the remainder of the money reportedly promised once the takeover had been completed, such an offer has been rejected by Silvio Berlusconi.
