Well, according to Transfermarkt his contract will expire this summer so that explains why he's available at such low price and not necessarily the indication of his quality. After a quick Google search, apart from the clubs I mentioned before, it seems that he's linked with several big EPL clubs too.

My only gripe is he's a DM, not exactly the kind of players I think we need at the moment.

RE: Winter Mercato 2014 - Jay Crisp - 01-08-2014

€3M for loan €6.5M for half. But that does not mean that his other 50% will be €9.5M for the second half ,it could cost more or it could be another €6.5M..but likely a small fee and some co-ownerships to Cagliari.

Either way Roma have a good squad and want to make it better ,have got a good player with room to get better.A player many wanted at Milan in the past few seasons.
Roma have direction and a plan that may or may not work out brilliant.I think it will see them in the UCL for years to come.

Us well just look at our latest link a DM from Porto only being looked at because he might go on the cheap.
Hes not bad but Fernando is in no way we need and cup tied for UCL.Free running down contract troublesome loan cheap that is Milans only plan and my god its a terrible one.

Exactly my point Nalx, why would a good player be out of contract!?!

RE: Winter Mercato 2014 - Nalx - 01-08-2014

There are so many reasons as to why one player is out of contract that I won't bother to discuss it. His footballing quality is the only thing that I'm interested in.

If he went through some trouble with his club with regards to the contract renewal like Jay suggested, well, CSKA president denounced Honda's agent, Galliani, (and I bet Honda himself too, in private) for the way they handled this saga.

Having said that, Honda is exactly the kind of player we need now, therefore his coming as an out of contract player bears little significance to me. I can't say the same thing about this Fernando guy though, again purely from footballing perspective.

Anyway, I don't think this thing will go through, at least not in this winter mercato. If Galliani wouldn't pay for a player we desperately needed, then why would he change his mind for the kind of player we don't really need?

Nobody pays 3 mil for a 5 month loan. Nobody. That's just idiotic. That 3 million has to be a part of the valuation somehow. But in any case....Roma has the option to purchase 50% of Naingolan for 6.5mil on top of the 3mil loan. Which means Roma will have paid 9.5mil this summer (3mil loan + 6.5 for 50%) and will still only own 50% of Radja. If they want to fully own hom they have to dish out whatever the other 50% is worth at that time. Looking at today's valuation, that's 6.5mil. So if we go by today's figures Roma will pay 16mil when its all set and done.

I do understand what you are saying though. Who cares if you fully own him or not as long as he is playing for you....and Roma has done that. They have Radja in their squad till June for 3 mil, and they can have him for another season after that for an additional 6.5 mil.

And I guess you are right. However, as tight for cash as we are, and as type of a player that Radja is (I don't think he is what we need), and with the valuation that was put to him.....I'm personally glad we didn't buy him. If we already have that money ten lets use it on a different type of a player.

This all goes back to my first sentence about the 3mil loan. I don't believe for one second that this is a loan, but just a part of the valuation....which puts Radja's at 16mil......and that's too much. This is just a way to spread the payment of some sort.

I don't think this is a good deal, FOR US. It's a good deal for Cagliari and for Roma. Cagliari got their money.....Roma got their man, even if by somebody's books they may have overpaid a couple mil. It's not a big deal. You have to identify the target and see what value he represents to you. To Roma, Radja represented that value. To us, it didn't and I actually agree with that. That's the way it works. We need to now identify our target, and figure out what value he will be to us. Then go, and close the deal....even if other teams may think we overpay. However, this is exactly where the problem lays for us......and this is what's frustrating all of us.

Agree. For the price sold and on our needs, Nainggolan wasn't a necessity. That said, half owning a player I think can only happen for a short period of time (imagine the loopholes if this wasn't the case), eventually the clubs must work out who has full ownership or it goes to envelopes.

I don't agree, his contract is coming to an end hence the supposed small fee. Under Villas Boas, Fernando was one of the most sought after DM's in the game and we were linked to him then too. However, his price was too high and unlike guys like Hulk and Falcao, nobody was going to pay absurd amounts of money for the guy.

However, I must admit I was baffled by this rumour as he's not a player who has qualities we need in Milan. Then I saw his contract is about to run out and it all made sense.Dodgy

We just got Honda as his contract ran out. A pretty good player if you ask me Wink

Truth is, as Nalx said, there are many reasons why a player might have his contract run out. Disagreements with their club, potential to earn more or an "under the table" agreement with another club.

EDIT: Sportmediaset has reported the deal is pretty much done for June (other rumours say until 2018 and 3m per year). Also worth noting that in the report it says we want him now, but he will cost 8m (rather than 3m previously posted), which we're unwilling to pay.

RE: Winter Mercato 2014 - Mathias - 01-08-2014

Apparantly Balo is staying, but leaves us in the dark as to post-wc. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just f'in with the press.. But losing this guy would be painful, as he's the only forward in our team able to hold up the ball apart from Niang (who obviously is not able to do it as well as balo, apart from the fact we loaned him out).

It's clear that you initially thought the 9.5M was for his full ownership when you replied to me, while it was only half of him. It's a lot easier to just admit you made a mistake than to post figures and give your logic from the original post a complete 360.

Actually it's a 180, not a 360. 360 and you're right back in the same spot.

Nevetheless, if it makes you feel better, I am sorry. I assumed Elieassi was right, as he clearly made it seem like it was a full contract. I didn't have time to check the sites yesterday for the news.

Don't worry, I don't have an ego and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No big deal.

I don't get this. Montpellier won't give us Yanga-Mbiwa, they were HUGE assholes in that whole saga, and we then loan them Niang? WTF? I wouldn't even loan them Matri. Fuck that team.

The other part is WHY WHY WHY loan out Niang? He should be molded into a top Striker with his size and athletic ability. Get rid of Matri and make Niang and Pazzini the backups to Balotelli up top.

Apparently he could be available at as low as 3M, has EU passport, and attracted the attention from other clubs like Juve and Napoli too. That's all I can deduce from the Google translation of Milan News.

So, anybody know him? Is he good?

Is this Fernando Reges from Porto?

He was hyped a lot some times ago... maybe 2-3 seasons ago. If we get him, we will get a quality backup for NDJ, that's all I can say.

RE: Winter Mercato 2014 - Nalx - 01-08-2014

Yep, that's him. Fernando Reges. The latest rumor says that Galliani, as expected, is gonna wait until his current contract expires. If he's at de Jong's level, I don't mind giving him a chance next season. I sure am sick with players like Noce or Muntari.

Hopefully Balo will have a good World Cup so that Chelsea wants to pay €50 million for him before next season. Then we can buy 4 more Matris! Devilol
