Then it makes a lot more sense to me. Pioli does have experience and can probably stabilise things a bit, and he also tends to start strong with his teams.

it is a bit strange though; it is only 7 matches- 10 points from top and 4 from champions league spot- and we are looking for a caretaker !!!

As Stefano Pioli prepares to sign a low-cost, two-year contract with Milan, fans are unhappy that another Inter supporter is taking the reins.
Pioli is set to replace Marco Giampaolo as Milan’s Coach, and Gazzetta dello Sport notes he will earn just €1m this season, with €1.5m to follow next term if he sees out his deal.
That is markedly less than the €4-4.5m that Luciano Spalletti was demanding for his services, prior to Inter refusing to cover his compensation costs.
However, the Rossoneri’s choice to bring in the 53-year-old has been nothing short of controversial.
Indeed, #PioliOut is currently the top trend on Twitter in Italy, despite the former Inter boss having yet to be formally appointed.
Comments from his time on the blue side of San Siro have also since resurfaced, which do not make for good reading.
“My family are all Interista,” he was quoted as saying by Sport Mediaset.
“My profession took me elsewhere, but my faith was [Inter]. I grew up with the chant, ‘we’ll win the Scudetto with Beccalossi and Pasinato.’”
Pioli lost 10 of his 27 games in charge of Inter during the 2016-17 campaign, although he did lead Lazio into the Champions League.

Stefano Pioli is set to become the new coach of AC Milan but perhaps the Italian is not the best choice for the Rossoneri.
When two people fight (Spalletti and Inter), at times, a third one wins. In this case Stefano Pioli. The ongoing dispute between Luciano Spalletti and his former club has forced AC Milan to make a U-turn and focus on Pioli reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Luciano Spalletti will not be the new coach of AC Milan. Although the 60-year-old had agreed a two-year deal with the Rossoneri he couldn’t terminate his contract with Inter in time and AC Milan can’t wait for much longer.
Spalletti is under contract with the Nerazzurri until 2021 and will earn 9 million for the reamining of his contract. Spalletti asked for a severance payment in order to terminate his contract in advance. Inter offered 2 million while Spalletti wanted 4.5 million. The Milan management wants the new coach to be in charge for the upcoming match against Lecce that’s why they have turned their attention on Stefano Pioli, another former coach of Inter.
Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban are the big sponsors of Pioli. The management duo are confident in his qualities and corporate spirit. AC Milan will offer Pioli a two-year contract until 2021 at 1.5 million euros per season. Although Elliot are not 100% convinced by this choices they have given the green light to Maldini and Boban to close a deal. They are the guarantors of the Parma-born coach. But is Stefano Pioli the right choice for AC Milan?
Perhaps not and he risks becoming “the umpteenth own goal” of AC Milan. Pioli has been coaching for more than 15 years but with modest results. He has been in charge of Parma, Sassuolo, Palermo, Lazio, Bologna, Inter and Fiorentina.
His third-place Serie A finish with Lazio in 2015 is Pioli’s highest note on his curriculum. He lasted just seven months at Inter. With the rest of his clubs he records many mid-table placings and sackings. AC Milan were able to”snatch” Pioli from the competition of Sampdoria and Genoa but perhaps they are signings just a second Giampaolo.

Pioli is in Parma right now and will sign a two year contract with Milan - Pedulla
Pioli told his collaborators that he found verbal agreement with Milan. In the coming hours he will meet the club management to sign the contract. His assistant will be Giacomo Murelli. First training session tomorrow. Francesco Perondi as fitness coach and Gianmarco Pioli (Stefano's son) as performance analyst [@NicoSchira]

I'd like to see Allegri come back and save us from relegation.. Or maybe Sarri would have already secured the league title and pity us and come save us from our disaster.

nah..Allegri going to MU or Spurs...
plus Elliot can't afford his salary (5M)
Most likely will be Pioli+Maldini+Boban Sacked/Resigned...Gattuso come back ...similar like Roma last season (EDF+Monchi out midseason)
