Match fixing? I can't imagine a player to be so daft to lose track of which goal he was supposed to defend.. Especially when he took the shot himself

I can't think of any other explanation than match-fixing. Wonder what the player himself has to say, but all I had was the video. If anyone has followup, I would be interested to know.
Maybe he thought that by shooting right at the goalkeeper, the ball would not have gone in. The goalkeeper must have really disappointed him.

That's a pretty cool story. I've been following the Asian Cup and must say there have been some great goals. Was tempted to make a thread, but really depends if people have an interest as I can't follow the cup too closely.

Very cool story indeed. Fans in China are ecstatic these days. It was the first time ever in Asian Cup that China beat Saudi Arabia.
Fun fact: the ball boy himself is a goalkeepers, so are his two (or three?) brothers.
The Chinese goalkeeper, Wang Dailei, later visited the boy again, and the two exchanged gifts.

Dev, I am interested but I don't know if I have time following the tournament either. But it would always be great to read whatever you write, and it doesn't matter in which threads.

Thanks Xu. My issue is I'm really just watching highlights as matches are played at odd times to watch here, so I probably wouldn't have much to say about the games.
