I think I'd prefer Keita over most our targets at the moment, other than of course Douglas Costa who remains a dream for all of us IMO. He's definitely a target that if we try hard enough to purchase, I think we can get it done, but there has been little to no articles or anything linking us.
Keita reminds me of a young C.Ronaldo IMO. He's a bit selfish on the ball, he's got quick feet and very explosive runner with some decent finishing technique. He has the potential mold to become a very similar player. Again, the direct comparison is a bit foggy but I'm just trying to give my evaluation on him, specifically the things I like.
Buying Conti will be a step sideways financially IMO, his arrival would almost be a guarantee in my eyes that DS is gone. If we get 20m for DS and we buy Conti for the same price, I'm happy. He's a couple of years younger and he had a phenomenal year @ Atalanta.
As far as strikers go, we're linked with Aubameyang, Belotti, Morata & Diego Costa right now. I'd take any of the 4 IMO, whichever one makes the most financial sense at this point. I'm a bit hesitant to spend 70-100m for Belotti or Morata tbh. It's a lot of money - but then what makes us any better, we do after all expect 100m for Donnarumma
I do not want Bernardeschi - never been thoroughly impressed by him at all tbh, and again he's mainly RW like porcho said.
In midfield with Biglia & Kessie wrapped up, I'd expect our next signing to be the big name. If it's James Rodriguez I'd say we're all but set to win the scudetto as long as Montella can put together some decent chemistry.
Finally, apart from signing Keita & our big name striker, I do believe we need at least 1 attacker, maybe even two if Niang leaves. We lost Ocampos, Deulofeu, Honda and Bacca/Niang look on their way out. 5 players out, only two in will leave us way too thin. Thankfully, it looks like we're going to sign Ghezzal from Lyon on a free transfer. I actually read that we're trying to conclude that deal in the next week or so, what are your thoughts on this player?
This is what his agent said:
The agent and brother of Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal has confirmed talks with AC Milan.
The 25-year-old will be out of contract next month.
"Milan are interested in my brother Rachid," agent Abdelkader Ghezzal told Mediaset Premium.
“There was already a meeting a while ago. The door is always open, we'll see how this pans out."
It's a smart move imo, we were looking at Papu Gomez, but why spend 20mln euros for a sub? Bear in mind, I don't know too much about Ghezzal, but from what I've seen he looks at least capable enough to be a solid & reliable sub/rotational player and he'll be free.

ghazzal is ok. Not the best, but hardly a rubbish player... Better then what we've gotten rid of and would be a good back up. Of course we'd still need a back up LW and ST if we sell Lapadulla...
Saw a rumour that Deulofeu wants to stay in Milan so, if there's any truth to that, that would fix our LW backup option... And I would keep Lapadulla as back up

Politano or similar(backup LW)
James/Kovacic

Assuming Conti and Biglia are done deals
And get rid of;

Palleta(Bologna?)
Zapata(in with the Belotti deal?)
Niang(in with the Belotti deal?)
Edit: This is what I find potentially achievable given the $$ available and the deals we've been making with the loan and obligation...
If we could. I'd have Petagna back instead of Lapadulla. Verdi back instead of Ghazzal. And someone like Politano instead of Deulofeu.
Problem there would be cost although Politano would likely come cheaper and nefremo does have a point about him wanting to come back to play. Changed my mind now... Politano it is... Or similar at least.

The problem with Deulofeu is that he won't come here to be a back up. He wants to go to the World Cup, and he won't achieve that from the bench. The problem for us is that he simply didn't prove himself to be good enough to warrant a starting position if we are to fight for the top spots. He is too erratic and wasteful. Maybe you'll think I'm crazy but I would rather see us bring back Simone Verdi as a back up/rotation to be honest rather than Deulofeu (but also as I said, keep in mind he won't be willing to be a back up and we should aim higher for a starter). He is a youth product, I am sure he would love to come back and is more than good enough to be a back up. He is good for several goals and assists a season and can play on both sides of the field. I wonder if we can strike some kind of a deal with Bologna since they are interested in Poli and Paletta.
Also on Deulofeu, I don't think Everton would allow him to leave for anything less than 15mil and I really don't see them giving him to us on another loan......so I really don't want us to spend that kind of cash on him.
In terms of the list of players you provided....I can't say I have many complaints. But realistically, even in this so far incredible summer....that seems unrealistic and frankly too much....too many players. I don't see us signing that many players, and frankly, I don't think we need to.
At this point, with the way things are developing....
DEFENSE: Musacchio, Rodriguez, (Conti), + 1 CB (quality level depends on formation. If 4-3-3, than back up is adequate. If 3-5-2, than needs to be a starter....the other factor will be whether Zapata leaves or not, so we might not even need another CB especially if we are sticking to 4-3-3 and Zapata stays)
MIDFIELD: Kessie, (Biglia), + 1 CM (depends on where Jack's primary position will be, this can be a rotation young player with potential like Thiago Maia<haven't seen much of him, so I am not vouching, just using an example>....or a starting material player like Kovacic. Again, it will all depend on whether Jack will be primarily in the midfield or on the wing)
ATTACK: 1 CF (starting material) + 1 LW/SS (starter/rotation) + 1 RW (back up).....if we go to 3-5-2, than obviously we don't need 2 wingers but instead only 1 support striker.
So after Musacchio, Rodriguez, Kessie, (Conti), and (Biglia)....I see us buying 3-4 more players, maaayyyybee 5 at the most, depending on formation and departures. But I certainly can't see us buying 9 more players.

For me, I love Verdi but it goes back to the same as before... he's a RW and if we're already potentially getting ghezzal then we end up with two backup RW.
Out of the two I'd prefer Verdi but I suppose Ghezal comes for free... Yet another youngster we let go that we shouldn't have. he had a great season this year.
I left ghezzal because we're linked to him. But Verdi would be the preferred. Just like I'd love to get Petagna back and let Lapadulla go but the money could be better spent elsewhere

True about Verdi. We sold him for only 1.5mil also. Terrible piece of business. That's Galliani for you. Doesn't mind paying Raiola 7mil in agent fees for Rodrigo fucking Ely, but will sell Verdi for 1.5mil when the club finally decides to play with wingers. In any case, he is not completely a RW imo. He can play on both sides, and if I remember correctly, he started off his career as a support striker. Anyway, as you said, there is nothing in it and it's just a name I brought up. I don't think there is a chance of us getting him back, so someone like Ghezzal who we are currently linked to is a lot more plausible. I can live with that as a back up. No real issues for me there.

Keita is what he is.Hes talented and can be very good or be non existent.I don't see the Ronaldo comparison as at Keitas Age Ronaldo had won a Ballon Dor or maybe was in the season where he won one.Keita has some horrific attitude issues that may or not get worse or better.He is explosive & has quick feet but that's where the Ronaldo comparison ends for me.
Rodriguez Musacchio and Conti next.Thats a huge upgrade to our defence.Kessie next Biglia and 1 more mid with a winger and striker and we will be on the road to success.8 players ...maybe we won't sign 8 but defo 7 will arrive.

Completely agree. Let's close Conti and Biglia. Than focus on the winger and 1 more CM.
That will have our team 90% completed. Spend the rest of the summer working on the ST and maybe some small operations for back up players.
