You have to admire Berlusconi though. This old fart certainly knows how to play with media and people. Does anyone even know for sure if the alleged contact/transaction is for real?

At this point, I feel like both parties are as guilty as the other with this whole mess. For the life of me, I cannot understand why it would take this long for the two parties to even figure out what they actually want to do with the deal. Certainly, I can understand that it takes time to iron out all the details of a contract. Hell, it probably takes weeks just to write the contract that is thicker than a bible. But we are not even at that stage yet really, as we don't even know how much of the team we are selling right now. Either this was all a negotiation ploy by either side, or this is hands down the worst negotiation I have ever seen or heard of my entire life.
Either way, I think this ordeal revealed an awful lot about Berlu and the Chinese. Berlu is a selfish ass who is only concerned about his own well being. He can talk about how he loves the club and is only trying to do the right thing for the club, but it is nothing but lies. The Chinese, on the other hand, are on the same boat. This deal isn't about making the club better, it is about their own agenda. And any expectation we had about them coming in and became like Berlu from 30 years ago should go right out the window right about now. They are not in this for the love of the club, period.
I read today that Lazio sold 11 season tickets on their first day of ticket sales. I am anticipating something along those lines when Milan sells theirs too, albeit not quite as extreme. If the idiots thought San Siro was a rough place for Milan to play in last season, just wait and see how the fans will react this year. As the saying goes, you made your bed, now you gotta lay in it.

The problem is they won't make money, in China or elsewhere, if the team is led by Lapadula types. I would go as far as saying not even with Pjaca types (well of course if they reach ballon d'or level that would change). So unless the negotiation is all fake why are they willing to spend this much?

Soccer clubs tend to be money losers, that's kind of the reality of the situation. How many clubs are currently not in red every year? In Italy, Juve is the only one, nobody else even comes close. If making money is the ultimate goal for the Chinese, they would have never even tried to buy the team. The odds of us turning profitable in the next five years is almost non-existent. The odds of us recovering all that big time investment on players and stadium within the next 10 years is even worse. I have felt this way from the very beginning, and I still do till this day. I have absolutely no idea why the Chinese are investing all this money to buy this team. I just don't see a very clear cut motive for it. I guess maybe they want to do an IPO for us, and maybe profit from that, but even that hardly sounds very profitable considering how much they bought the team for and how much money they still have to invest to make the team respectable again.

Berlusconi played this very well. In a few months, he will say that the deal with the Chinese wouldn't have been right for Milan and instead they will start another year zero of the Youth Project instead.
When Montella was appointed in no way did I believe that the Chinese were involved. New investors usually want a big name coach and a couple of big name players. Like when Robinho joined City. The same goes for Lapadula. The Chinese probably didn't even know who he was.
Now it is pretty apparent that unless Bacca is sold, no new good players will come. This is how we missed out on Pjaca and this is how we will miss out on Musacchio coz teams aren't that interested in Bacca except West Ham and even if they are, they now know that Milan are desperate to sell. So in the Galliani regime, we sell the best for cheap and buy the trash for high prices. Even Musacchio is a good player, but 25-30m for him is insane? Does Galliani even negotiate ?
Berlusconi fibbing about the Chinese sale also means that he has an excuse for a bad transfer window. "Oh well the Chinese stalled the negotiations so much we couldn't buy any players coz we were waiting for money from them." He has no shame in giving out such reasons and his parrots in the media will only find logic in his silly words.
As for Montella, what say does he have to lose. He was at a struggling Sampdoria, with no prospects and his reputation taking a hit coz of their bad performances and he got a job at the once great Milan. What does he have to lose? If he does badly, the team loses and he is fired, no one will blame him.
By now everyone in football knows that Milan's management are stupid and the players below average. Montella gets Milan on his resume and moves on without a blemish.
The players get their overpriced contracts, get paid to jog around once a week and sleep without a worry. The only one who loses in this deal are the fans and the reputation of the club.
Berlusconi and Galliani are too precious to hold on to their toy. Like an overbearing mother who keeps an iron grip on her kid, and does not realize that it is in fact hurting the kid and will ruin him in the long run. If we are to move forward they have to leave, at least one of them has to.
