Yeah but that's just not the blueprint for this management. I don't think they are interested in doubling our wage bill anytime soon, certainly not until we get a new stadium which is many many years away from happening. I would love to keep Leao but the avalanche of big pay raises that will follow is going to give management major pulses. I actually do think Dortmund is the model we are following anyway. We also wouldn't need to worry about not winning anything like Dortmund. Serie A does not have a Bayern like team in it with Inter and Juve both on shaky ground these days.

Salaries should go in correlation with revenue. I think while Elliot is in charge, they will ensure this happens. I am all for it. Having said that, they have also shown that this whole idea of a "salary cap/limit" is an invention from the media. When someone is worth it and the money is there, we will pay market value. AS LONG AS, the money is flowing in (that means success on the field, CL, titles, sponsors to follow, etc). Take Theo for example. He is now at 4.5M a year net. This is in line with many great fullbacks in Europe. No, he's not in the top 5 or 10, but if he keeps this up and Milan make it to deeper rounds in the CL, than I'm sure they won't have a problem bringing him up there.
Same goes for Leao and the rest of the team. It's no coincidence that when Milan was on top of Europe sporting wise, we were also on top of Europe salary wise (or top 3-5). There is a correlation between the two. It's the same now with those that are on top. You have outliers, but they don't sustain that over a longer (or even medium) term.
Anyway...I think Elliot has made it clear. They are not looking to profit from Milan's normal operations. Meaning they are no looking for profit on an annual basis. As long as we are not bleeding money that they have to cover the losses, they'll be fine. So therefore, up the revenue and we'll have less of a problem keeping up with salaries.
So where is Elliot looking to profit (because they sure as heck are)? That's in the sale of the club, which we are seeing play out right in front of us. They know the name of the game. It's not worth looking to profit 10M a year (big IF in football), when you could profit 200, 300, 400M when you sell the club. But to sell at those prices, you need visibility. You need success and media frenzy around you. You need sponsors and big players. Hence, if revenue goes up 50M, than no problem in raising salaries by that amount. It ensures you could sell the club at high figures later on if you keep your best players to keep you in the conversation along with the elite.

In my opinion, the Leao case is really difficult. What is the benefits of selling for that amount?
1: As you all say we can reinvest the money in some serious talent. We can actually have a sniff at top players like Nunez, Jesus, Mahrez, Nkunku etc. Lets say we could get Jesus and Nkunku for that money, and Rebic is healthy and in fine form we would still have a great attack(4-3-3): Nkunku- Jesus- Rebic. Maybe we also will take a sniff at Traore for the left ving. A good attack.
2: We will not have problems with the wage structure. As you pinpoint really good Slifersd1, if Leao gets 6 mill this will absolutely influence other players. Rumours says Kalulu will be offerede 1,5 mill. Thats peanuts with his talent. I would be mad if i was him and was told that Leao got 6 mill. Its a BIG difference. Then we have Maignan, Tomori, Tonali etc. It could cause trouble within the group.
3: We could got serious money for a guy who have been really good for just a year. I love Leao, but he is a moody player. You really dont know which kind of players you would see on the field. He has actually been stable for the last 5 games, but its easy to forget the matches against Torino and Bologna etc. He was poor and lazy. And i still have a problem with his defensive contribution. Yes maybe that left side is OK in Serie A, but if we gonna be serious in Europe, that left side will have a lot of holes and room for the opponent to take advantage off. Leao is not excactly Sadio Mane defensively. Thats the secret of the best teams in Europe, no one cheats defensively. Look at City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. Vinicius has been stunning this yeat, but look at his defensive contribution against City, Leao is not there yet.
Why keep?
1: He is 100% a world class talent with a immense future if he keeps developing. His dribbling, pace, and strength is second to none, if he also could be more effective, and stronger in defence he has the whole package. He has a really rare talent, and hos former coach in Sporting said that he had and has more potensial than Ronaldo, that says it all. He could be the pillar of our future, our diamond to future glory.
2: What would the team think if we sell? Were are the ambitions? This could cause a bad enviroment and maybe more sales. The psychological effect could be devastating.
3: If it stands or fall on the wage, i think we will have no problems to pay 6 mill each year. Roma, Kessie, Zlatan, Castillejo and more will reduce our wages a lot and i think that Casper Stylsvig, Gadzidis and co have done a fantastic job to really polish our brand. They got a lot of new sponsor deals, existing ones will pay more, we looks to the future more than any club in Italy, and this will bear fruit in form of more renevue and more money to salaries. This is easy, we are a attractive top club again, more money in, and more money out to keep the teams as it is. But the important thing is to have a roof. If im not wrong, this is 7 mill each year(Zlatan). No one deserves this kind of salary after one good season. In my opinion Maignan, Leao, Tomori, Theo, and Tonali is the ones who are closest but not over 5 mill. Show this kind of performances in Europe next year, then we are talking. Bottom line: I think we could give Leao 6 mill and dont suffer much from it, but i think he will accept less.
My final opinion: Keep him. He is so exiting that i think 10 000 more people are at the San Siro just to look at him. And we finally have a healthy financial situation so we can afford to keep him. What Elliot means is another case.

So apparently, Barca is in such deep financial hole that they need liquidity just to pay their player's salary that are due in June. And yet, somehow they are still permitted to sign a bunch of free agents, as well as Lewandowski, Raphinha and other high priced players. I never thought FFP was going to be the be all and end all that fixes football finances around the world but it is ludicrous that FFP permits Barca to spend when they are in these financial situations and yet penalize Milan every time we bought a couple of extra rolls of toilet paper when Walmart had it on sale

You can’t necessarily say salary correlation with revenue as Milan are a proverbial sleeping giant. There is a lot of low hanging fruit revenue wise with consistent CL appearances let alone moving to knock outs. We already have the infrastructure from the Berlu days as people know this team all over.
Leao is the only reason we even have a chance at the Scudetto. He is a game changer that stays healthy! No other player like that on this team. He is inconsistent as he is like 22. With that said, he has only gotten better each year which is an excellent sign. The way he is finishing the season out is very impressive as he had to take on the offensive load with all those injuries. He is not a two way player like Salah or Sane with their defensive contributions, but he also won’t demand that salary realistically.
Also people worry about other players asking for big salary ups and that is reasonable, but goal scorers ALWAYS cost more. Salary wise, transfer wise.
You have to renew Leao. I wasn’t on board early this season due to lack of progression and because He holds Theo back to be honest, but he has come big as we need him.

Most Milan fans and many others will measure Milan in CLs not Scudettos.
I am not advocating anything but "low" wages and going far or winning CL are pretty much not compatible.

I would rather offer 6M to Leao than Dybala.
That said, if we offered Dybala 6M from Ibra and Leao the 6M supposedly offered to Kessie, then the wage doesn't change much from that sense.

Elliott doesn't deserve Milan, period. Yes I like how they're running the club, but we need the superstars we need the high salaries and we need the trophies. If Milan is to truly return to its appropriate heights then we're competing with Madrid and Liverpool. Elliott isn't even who we have to thank tbh, its all down to Maldini. If they hired them, then that's all I thank Elliott for. Maldini & Co are who made Milan return to being a winning side with working so well in those constraints.

it's 20m now and the court case is to have Lille pay it as they should have from the start. Leao likely doesn't want to make a decision because Sporting losing the case means Leao is back to paying the figure.

I agree with most of what was said in this comment but would stil lreally consider selling at 100m. Only because we still have so many spots to improve and that money would make huge inroads to fixing those holes.
100% this comment. Nkunku would be a huge signing but I fear we'll be priced out with reportedly some EPL clubs interested.

I completely disagree. If we didn't have someone as conservative as Elliott take over, we very well might not even have a Serie A club by now. We were bleeding 100s of millions a year AND had nothing to show for it. Elliott have resolved our spending while also got us challenging for top spot again. There's no evidence that they'll be holding us back from progressing.
we also can't go from exile to Top European club within a couple of seasons.
It took us years to become a nothing club. It will take us years to get back up to the top IF we ever get there to be honest. Look how long Juve have been trying and they never really got there.
