Agree with Nefremo on this. Based on the stuff that's out there right now, I think the media are just speculating at this point more than anything else.
A business deal of this magnitude is always negotiated in secrecy. In fact, I think parties who are involved in these negotiations have to sign confidentiality documents and there can be severe financial penalty for violating such agreement. As such, I sincerely doubt parties that are directly involved in negotiating this deal are putting any information out there. If you read direct quotes from Sal Galatioto, for example, he gives one liner answers to almost every question he gets from media. Since directly involved parties are not putting anything out, I have to think media members are either getting information from outside parties (friend of a friend of a friend), or trying to make a big deal out of small details (Berlu's joke on Chinese). Either way, I wouldn't trust the quality of the reporting right now. I remember media outlets were reporting how Berlu was not going to give the Chinese exclusive negotiation rights one day, and the next morning, Berlu gave it to them.
This negotiation, at this point, should be fairly clear to all parties what needs to be done. Either the conditions can be met, and it is just a matter of taking the time to put everything in writing, or the conditions will not be met, and the parties will either find common ground to keep going or go their separate ways. In all honesty, I am ok with it either way. This rebuilding job is going to take a few years to complete no matter what happens with this deal. Even if Berlu doesn't sell, it's just a matter of time that his health deteriorates enough that he relinquishes the team to someone else one way or another.
I think there is a wild card in this entire scenario here, which is Berlu's fiancee. Considering that Berlu is turning 80 in a couple of months and is starting to have major physical problems, I wonder how she views this entire situation. Unlike Fininvest and Berlu's kids, who Berlu doesn't listen to, she has Berlu's ears and can be very convincing given their relationship. Does she want Berlu to keep on running the team? Or sell the team for a nice bucket of cash and focus on other things in life? Weird as it sounds, she might actually be a key player in all of this.
I know all of us Milan fans are looking at Inter and getting envious, but in all honesty, I am not impressed with Suning. It is not a very rich company, all things considered, and they have very little experience with soccer. They started owning their own team in China for like a couple of years and now wants to take on the big dog. This thing sounds a lot like Thohir to me, or maybe i am just overly pessimistic about them.

Suning may not be as wealthy and powerful, but they had no issue dropping 80mil on 2 players just 6 months ago. I think they'll spend big for Inter, and the good thing is that they are not changing much in the management. They are going to let football people like Zanetti do football, while they will provide the resources.

That's exactly why I don't trust Suning's ownership with Inter. For a company that is not supremely wealthy and powerful, dropping 100M every year on a soccer club is lunacy and makes no business sense. I don't see what their end game for this is. Unlike the Man City case, Italian clubs do not have huge TV contracts on the horizon and the economic conditions in Italy is not supportive for a profitable franchise. Juve started that process decades ago, when world economy was in a much different state than it is now. If I were an Inter fan, I'd be concerned with what happened with Malaga happening to Inter. An owner with no clear motive come in, then lose interest in a couple of years and toss the team aside.

Well it's the same for Milan, isn't it? I agree with you, and I think that's why Berlusconi is asking for these clauses before he gives up control of Milan. I will say though, that if Milan and Inter return to the levels of the past and have their own, modern stadiums, then that will benefit Serie A as a whole tremendously.
Anyway, I am actually feeling somewhat optimistic about the sale again. An article on Milannews.it made the point that by extending the deadline to June 30th, Fininvest must think it's quite likely that the club will be sold. The reason is that if it doesn't happen, then Milan is not just severely delayed in entering the transfer market, but will also not have much money to spend on new players. That would leave us completely screwed for the coming season. To be honest, if the sale wasn't going to happen, I think we'd know by now. They're probably just working out all the details still.

I am a little nervous about Milan's takeover as well, truth be told. But at least, it's a consortium, not a single company or owner. And the funds will be pooled together and managed by professional managers instead of going through the owners. Even if one owner changes his mind about something, the entire funding pool wouldn't just evaporate, so it's a little bit safer. And I do think some of Berlu's terms when it comes to commitment on funding will do us a lot of good. At least that's how I see it.

Yeah, me too. But you are right, there seems to be a very solid plan behind all of this, and that is reassuring.

Seems that Suning which bought majority of Inter was one of the backers Mr.Bee was hoping for to finance the 48%. Suning backed out, they were not convinced the 48% was a good arrangement.

Sal Galatioto has landed in Milano according to reports. Some are saying he is there to personally oversee the complicated negotiations, some are saying he is there for the closing of the deal with some details to iron out.
Either way, it's a good thing.
Apparently the Chinese have set up a fund based in Hong Kong that guarantees liquidity of 1.5bil with investment plans for the next 5 years, including a stadium. The created holding company will also be listed on the stock market in China.
